I will start off by saying im very hot natured. Does not take me much to sweat. The great thing i have found out about this coat so far is I dont get overly hot. I can wear it at 40 degrees while wearing only a t-shirt and im fine. Im not hot and Im not cold. If it dipped down into the low 30's I might would put on a long sleeve shirt and be ok. It's a very light jacket. very light. Perfect fit. I have broad shoulders and no problem with the jacket. The material is very thin. I worry about it ripping or snagging. Apparently it's hard to mess it up bc I have had no problems with that. I like it.

This is a good jacket. I'm 5'11" tall and 152 lbs of slim build and found the medium tall to be perfect in size. The Jacket is very light weight.
As for warmth I'm not sure it is the warmest jacket. For leisurely walking it is comfortable down to the 40s. When walking the dog in temps around freezing, and layered beneath I would find the jacket is comfortable but never warm. It's not cold either but I find it seems to hover around a couple of degrees lower that I would find idea.
If you are generating a sweat though it is perfect. I used it fat biking in temps of around 11F at 9,000+ ft and it kept me warm, a little too warm (fat biking in snow generates a lot of body heat). It got wet from my sweat but kept the wind off and kept me warm and dried out quick with no funky smell.
So summary: as an Activity jacket it is perfect. For a casual lightweight jacket, it looks good but you need to layer some to keep warm.

NICE JACKET, WELL MADE, LOVE THE COLOR. RAN A FULL SIZE SMALL. SINCE I ORDERED A XXL, I HAD TO SEND IT BACK. IF YOU CAN ORDER A SIZE UP, IT IS A VERY NICE JACKET!

Lightweight. Warm to about 50 degrees. Whiteinsulating material comes out through stitching, making the jacket look funny.

Really disappointed with the fit, men's large fits like a medium at best, sleaves are utterly too short. Very little to non-existent fill in the upper chest area. Do like the dark green color. Bought a similar product 3 years earlier that was closer to a true large fit.

I can tell this will be comfortable and worm if I ever fit into it. Issue is it has a tapered fit for the macho types, second the shoulders are not roomy enough for your body to move freely for active wear; and I don't recall the description mentioning tapered for macho types. This product needs to be fit 1, and possible 2 sizes up if you really are using it in the outdoors. Want to strut your stuff and look cool, buy your normal size.

Thought this jacket would have a better zipper. One month and zipper opened from the bottom.

The fit was weird so I returned it. Shoulders and arms were fine but it was baggy in the front.

This is not as warm as we had hoped, even though it is rated as medium warmth.

Be aware that this jacket has elastic at wrists, not cuffs. It is a disappointment. I noticed immediately. My husband does not seem to mind that feature. Also color is very orangy red color. It is so light weight and truly packable so it will be used. Fit is true to size.

Watched for 2 years. NEVER WENT ON SALE. I have a 48" chest and had to but a 3X to fit. Wanted this specific color combo so I bent to your will, but will never buy LLBean ever again.

I realize this is supposed to be a light jacket, but it really offers no insulation. I may still return it. It just dissapoints.

This the second version of this jacket I purchased. The first I purchased several years ago and the sleeve and zipper eventually wore out. This newer model is cut larger, and has a less-than-pleasant outer fabric that has a stiff, vinyl like coating. I had also purchased a Marmot packable jacket. They have the same design. The Marmot has a softer feel and is less barrel shaped. I'll keep the Bean jacket, but will not likely replace it when it goes.

purchased as a bday gift for spouse. Wasn't what we were looking for. Was light and too square in shoulder. Mostly based on style

I liked the idea of a lightweight jacket for hiking and using as a middle layer. It doesn't keep me as warm as I expected and that the cost would merit. As a middle layer, I would go with the Airlight Pullover. It does the job at less than half the cost of the Packaway. As an outer layer, it should work just fine in balmier weather, but so would an Airlight. (Mind you, I'm a skinny senior citizen, so warmth matters more for me than ever.)

Generally less insulation that anticipated. Not much insulation in the collar.
