Happy with jacket's features, although I find the sleeves on the Large Tall a bit short compared to other LT clothes I have bought from you.

Attractive, well made, very light & packable, but not as warm as described (35 deg.--15 deg.) I don't think it would be warm enough at the bottom of that range.

Excellent jacket. Good fit, very light and surprisingly good warmth. While rated for a potential of15 degrees below zero, I prefer a mid length coat for very, very cold weather. Otherwise, an excellent product for moderately cold days.

Excellent jacket that performs extraordinary and surprisingly warm. It sheds light rain well (DWR holds up pretty well still after 1 year and several washings). Not concerned at all if it get real wet out as this jacket stays warm and dries extremely fast. Face fabric is quick durable for a mid-layer puffy but the stitching is the weak link. I have had to tie knots and address numerous thread issues where the thread has given out throughout the garment. I would be have surely given up on this jacket and returned it if I had paid full price for it but I got it on a great sale. It has become my trusted go-to from fall to spring. Not as breathable as my down puffy if sleeping in it while camping but the trust factor cannot be stated enough about it keeping you comfortable regardless of the conditions. Pocket arrangement is great as well. If the thread used in the stitching/quilting were of durable quality, I would own 4 of these. Same problem with their Crest hiking/Mountain pants. Like the stitching is intended to fail, sad. By comparison the thread on my down puffy from Costco has held up impeccably for 2 years of similar use while this jacket started to have thread issues within a month.

We found the sizes of both men's and women's to be small. My wife got a women's XL which was tight on her. She took my men's XL and we sent hers back. I then got a 2XL which is snug, Seem to provide some warmth considering the minimal insulation. Our normal sizes from LL Bean are usually loose fitting.

I needed a warm, light weight jacket for our Swiss escape vacation! This jacket fit the bill on both. Warm up in the Alps! Packed nicely in my backpack! The only issue is I needed to go up a size because of the "slim cut". So the sleeves and jacket body were a bit too long. I still recommend the jacket! But, the slim cut puts the jacket out of proportion!

I really like how light this jacket is for the warmth it provides. When I was travelling for business, I liked folding this jacket down and stuffing it in my carry-on. That way I always had a jacket that would serve me in all but really cold conditions, and it was it wasn't taking up precious space. As been said in a few other reviews, the temperature rating assumes you are wearing layers and you have some level of activity beyond just sitting or standing around. With a short sleeve polo, a lightweight fleece and this jacket, I'm good for a walk in ~ +20F weather. Colder than that, and you need extra layers or you need to treat this jacket as a middle layer.

Good fit, very compressible, layers well, not much warmth for the money.

I've owned the previous version of this jacket for years and loved it to the point that it's looking rough. It's my favorite mid-weight jacket. I ordered the same size as the previous model (Large-Tall) and the new one was too small. I had to exchange it for an XL-Tall. The new one fits well in the sleeves and waist, but still is snug across the back and now is very long in the body. I'm keeping it, but it doesn't fit as well as the previous model. Bean's exchange process was top notch!

I ordered this jacket 2 years ago and the armpits were so small I sent it back. I tried again this year and it has been improved and I am very happy with it.

Previously had 2014 Packaway jacket (raglan sleeves, stuff pocket in left waist pocket), which rocked and subsequently was loved to death. This 2019 model (concentional cut shoulders, stuff pocket added to inside left chest) comes down longer past waist (1"), slightly higher collar when zipped up (1/2"), has slightly roomier arm girth (3/4"), but still has approximately the same length sleeves. So overall aesthetically not quite as slim/fitted as before, but still a fine layering system equivalent to a medium-weight fleece, and paired together with a fleece pullover and a light waterproof jacket makes a good shoulder-season day-hike system for shedding/adding layers.

As far as synthetic insulated jackets go, this jacket is a great pick. Lightweight insulation that really goes the distance in matching comparable jackets on the market. What's important to remember is that it's one part of a layering system(e.g. base layer, midlayer, additional insulating layer, shell). As a standalone jacket, it will seem colder than usual but if you're looking for a one off jacket, a parka might be better for colder temperatures. If you're experienced in smart layering, this is a great pick. I purchased a tall XL and it fits great without being too billowy. It works well with other layers and I have worn it almost everyday since I've purchased the jacket. I can dress it up or down and it packs down to fit inside a daybag very easily. For travel and outdoor pursuits, this jacket is a good buy. Recommended.

Concept and workmanship are great, but there are some questions. In LL Bean shirts, medium sizes work well. However, I had to return a medium Primaloft jacket as definitely too small. This large one works but is too snug fo go over a heavy sweater. In addition, the Primaloft fill seems scanty. I would hefitate to trust it as adequate intemperatures below 10 above.

First jacket was a Lg Tall, slightly too fitted for me, ordered an XL Tall and that fits fine. Jacket is warm and lightweight. Packs easily in its own pocket for travel. Wore the jacket with a sweatshirt layer under in 5 F temp.

Walked two miles with the temps at 26 to 33 degrees. Wore the jacket over a chamois shirt. Never felt cold or uncomfortable. As noted in other reviews, the jacket feels thin and light, but surprisingly, it did the job.

A lovely, smart item that is OK for all but the lowest temperatures. But very disappointed that I can barely wear even a tshirt, and nothing else under it, for layering. A very small cut for advertised size. For the money I paid, I am disappointed.

30s-40s this coat is fantastic. Light weight and nicely warm. High 20s you need a sweater or micro fleece underneath. Low 20s regular fleece is needed. < 20 get out your other coat. In addition it's made for activity not for sitting in a stadium.

Perfect for a chilly spring/fall day but it's not a winter jacket if that is what you are looking for. You can wear it with a warm sweater in upper 30's temps but once it hits freezing or below look else wear.

This jacket actually replaces the same one from two years ago because the zipper completely failed. Bean replaced the jacket (thank you!) and when I offered to buy a different one, my son wanted the same one. It's light so he can carry it at school (no need for a locker), and it's surprisingly warm in most conditions. If I could wave my magic wand over Bean's product line, I would fix the darned zippers. I have the women's version of this coat--zipper on one pocket is kaput, a zipper on son's backpack failed, and I returned a primaloft packaway parka last year because the zipper busted. Let's hear it for better zippers!

I purchased this jacket because I need a packable winter jacket for my travels. Unfortunately, this may not be quite insulating enough for use as a winter jacket in any state North of Texas. However, I LOVE it anyway. Did I mention it was very light and comfortable? It is definitely a keeper. Just know that saying it is suitable for 30 degrees is a bit of a stretch.
