I bought my usual size, 9W, and found these shoes to be a bit narrow and very hot. Unfortunately, I found out by wearing them on a walk so I can't return them. Very stiff and uncomfortable.

Wasn't a good fit/design for me. Shoe felt clunky and heavy

Icky color, stiff in heals but I know from previously having these sneaks, that breaks in. I usually switch out insoles with Dr Scholls right away so I can't speak for comfort. They're good shoes in general, it's just that I have very bad feet and am particular about colors. I wish LLB made a wide that's not quite SO wide. I have wide feet but LLB's wide swims on me. I usually order men's regular a size down and they're a bit wider.

I thought these would be great shoes for my daily walks. I walk on the trails near my house, which have lots of hills, every day. However, the first negative was the cut of these. They are too high, and aren't comfortable to wear without higher socks, as they cut into the ankle and back of the achilles more than regular sneakers. I didn't want a boot, but a shoe. Then there's the heaviness. Anytime I wear these, it feels like I've added 5 pound ankle weights to each leg. I usually put on a pair of my worn-out trail shoes instead of these most days because they are literally exhausting to wear after a mile.

I was looking for a cross between a hiking boot and a sneaker. These were good quality, but the opening of the shoe dug into my ankle so much I couldn't wear them.

I'll give it 2 star because they seemed comfortable. They definitely were not wide. I was very excited to find a wide option and very disappointed with the result. I ended up buying off-the-shelf hiking shoes that were wider. I expected better from LL Bean

Although the shoes should have fit according to stated size, their length was slightly too short, so the shoes had to be returned at our expense. Otherwise nice shoes. Still awaiting refund.

These were incredibly uncomfortable when I first wore them. Fortunately I had shoe expanders to widen them a bit before I started wearing them. I also broke them in by wearing them a lot over a week. I had to have Band-Aids because they were creating calluses on my ankles! But once I broke them in I appreciate how supportive they are. I took them hiking. They are supposed to be waterproof. I am very disappointed that they are not. When I walk through my family's farm on the dewy grass field my socks are completely soaked at the end of my walk. They're good for hiking but they are NOT waterproof. I would prefer something that feels right when you first purchase it and doesn't take so much effort to break it in. And I would appreciate waterproof when it's marketed as waterproof! I don't recommend these.

The initial fit in the house was great, but these turned out to be the most uncomfortable "boots" I have ever purchased. The uppers are bulky and stiff, and the laces do not stay tied. A break-in period may help here?? But the soles are like walking on boards. I didn't get a half mile before the cramps set in. Finally, as if these don't cost enough I had to pay return shipping. That is truly annoying, will look elsewhere.

I splurged to buy an LLBean shoe to wear in the yard and garden as I was tired of ruining my sneakers, but didnt want a work boot. 5 stars for looks and gripability, but they were beyond uncomfortable. Like wearing bricks, no flexibility and my feet would actually fall asleep in these. I tried loosening laces, so much that my heel walked out of it, but it didnt help. I got so aggravated one day I literally threw them in the trash. My search continues.

I still can't break in after a couple of long walks, they are still feel narrow and tight. And my feet hurts afterwards. I was disappointed and Sad! Why advertised as wide when it isn't. It's not for people with wide feet to purchase from LL.Bean. I can't return it and it's past the grace period of returns.

I was excited to find a hiking shoe sold in a wide width. The toe box was very tight which made the shoes unwearable.. They had to be returned. Very stiff shoe. Nicely styled.

This shoe was super stiff and felt like a steel toed shoe when I put it on. I gave it a try on a 3 mile walk on sidewalks nearby and it did not loosen up at all. I've had other water proof hikers in the past which are always a bit more stiff then non-water proof hikers but this one was so stiff it made the shoe uncomfortable to wear. I unfortunately had to return it for a refund as a different size did not seem like it would be the solution. I had hoped it would be my new favorite hiking shoe but was very disappointed.

While I like the fit (probably too narrow for someone with a B width), the waterproofing seems to have dissipated in less than a month of wearing. I've only worn it in grass with heavy dew, not even puddles, and this morning my feet were pretty damp when I took them off.

I tried on the shoe at the Leawood KS store and ordered the wide because the regular was just a wee bit too narrow. Imagine my surprise when the wide I received was even narrower!

Unfortunately, this is the second pair I tried to order of this model. Visually, it is similar to a pair of LL Bean Hikers I bought last year and love! I thought this hiker would be the same. It even goes by the same name! I bought the same size as last year's Bean Hiker, an 8.5 medium. The toe box was super tight and no matter how I loosened the shoelaces, it was too uncomfortable. I returned those and bought a size 9 medium. The toe box on that pair was a better fit but, the shoe was cut too high at the ankle. It rubbed and hurt. So, I will be returning that hiker as well.

After 9 months of intermittent use ... maybe 10 days a months? I swap out my hiking shoes a lot ... this "waterproof" shoe leaks water into both shoes. I am walking in dewy grass with a labrador, and only rarely when it is full-on raining. I'm not fording streams. Coming home with wet socks annoys the heck out of me. Either mark these as "water repellent" or improve the Goretex design.

I was looking for some low hiking shoes for an upcoming trip to Maine. I saw these shoes on sale and the price was right. I always love everything I get from LL Bean. I guess I didn't look close enough. When I pulled them out of the box I had to check to make sure these were women's. They are very heavy and masculine looking. I know I will be wearing on the trail where fashion isn't that important but they were also stiff and too tight. Most of the time I buy a size 61/2, but if I need shoes for the gym I would get a 7. These size 7 are far too small. I tried them on with light socks and unfortunately these are going back and I will NOT be ordering them in a size 7 1/2. Sorry LL Bean.

These shoes may be waterproof when worn through rather shallow puddles. Although I haven't really worn them that often, they have been dependable in rainy weather from September 2017 until now. However, yesterday when, in a heavy downpour, I stepped off a city curb into a rather deep puddle of swiftly running water, water immediately rushed in through the mesh top in the toe box. Bottom line: these sneakers are not waterproof, as per your description of this item. And, yes, I am disappointed.

The shoe fits well except it is cut too high at the top and rubs on the ankle bone. I now have over 20 miles on the shoes and still have to wear bandaids on my ankles as they are rubbed raw.

The boot seemed fine but it was way too small. Since the size was so far off, I didn't want to chance reordering a larger size and just asked for a refdund which was handled well.
