Much too stiff and, unlike the details provided for the shoe, definitely not at all comfortable straight out of the box! I have been trying to find a comfortable waterproof hiking shoe from LL Bean for well over a year. This is the third or fourth shoe I have tried with no success. All are anything but comfortable! I have been shopping from LL Bean since 1981 and have always been pleased with everything I purchased. Unfortunately, this has not been the case for the past 2 or 3 years. The quality and reliability of their products has diminished tremendously. Perhaps they are now using vendors who provide lower quality items. It's really a shame especially for a long time customer like myself!

These shoes were so stiff that they actually cut into my foot when I walked. I did not attempt to break them in as they were too painful after a few steps and didn't want to break them in to the point they could not be returned. Returned immediately. They did not seem small, just overly stiff. I wish I could get the child's waterproof shoe in a women's size. My kids are super happy with their shoes!

I wore these once and they rubbed against my ankle bones and gave me bad blisters! I couldn't see them breaking in either as they felt very stiff and heavy. I returned them for a different model hiker which are much more comfortable.

These shoes are not waterproof. Walking through morning dew of the lawn and I have wet feet! Would not recommend.

These seem like very well made shoes, but after wearing them around the house to break them in, they continued to rub just at my ankle bone. I know that this will not change even if broken in so I am returning these shoes. They are also very stiff but maybe that would change if worn over time.

These low-cut hiking shoes are cut so high that they rub my ankle bones on both sides. Returned them.

I have crummy feet. Wide, flat feet with bunions. I have worn out probably 10 pairs of previous models of this shoe. They were my guaranteed to fit, make my feet happy shoe...until now. This model is fully 1/4 inch narrower in the toe box. I walk 5 miles 4-5x week. I actually developed pressure problems between my toes! Never occurred to me that my beloved shoes could be the cause. If you are looking for a wide shoe, this is not for you. These are going back.

This is terribly uncomfortable. Back is higher and rubs on heels and sides rub on ankles. Very disappointed in this purchase.

I'm returning these shoes right quick. They were imported from SE Asia, along with three other pairs, different styles, that I ordered. The quality is not what LLBean used to have. My husband could tell when he helped me get them out of the boxes. They're hard, cheap. Mr. LLBean wouldn't be happy.

I bought these about six weeks ago, and really wanted them to work, wearing them 3-4 times a week while walking dogs, doing yard work, etc. and hoping they would break in. But they are just as stiff as new, and the sides and bottoms of myfeet ache constantly while wearing them. They just don't work with my foot conformation. I will be returning them.

I purchased these shoes for a hiking trip last year & didn't get the chance to wear them. This month, I used them for some walking I would be doing during cool, rainy weather. This is the 4th pair of LL Bean hiking shoes that I have purchased in the same size and width. Well, about a mile into my hike, my feet were sore and achy. When I took the shoes off that evening, my toes were bleeding and blisters had formed on the bottom of my feet. The only positive note is that the shoes did keep my feet dry. When I contacted an LL Bean salesperson, she told me that the company has been making the toe box of their shoes narrower than in the past. This is the first time I have ever had problems with this size shoe. Since it had been over a year since I purchased the shoes, I donated them to a local thrift store. Very disappointed.

Used the shoes this past weekend for a hiking trip in the White Mountains, NH. At first I got really excited because the shoes seemed to be well made and provided good support. However, after 4 miles of hiking, my feet hurt so bad and there were some blisters. I had to take them off and changed to my Under Armour shoes. And my legs have been killing me. Mind you, I've done a lot of hiking and 4 miles isn't anything out of the ordinary. I'm a little disappointed with this purchase.

Got these sneakers/shoes last Christmas and I was excited to wear them this spring/ summer seasons! We have a dog boarding business and I am out walking dogs in all kinds of weather. Sadly after 3 times wearing them in rainy weather and avoiding puddles, I might add, my feet were soaked. I was really surprised that these didn't fit the bill.

I broke these in for a walking vacation in Britain. It was very misty, the grass was wet. The shoes leaked through the top within 10 minutes. I had to buy new shoes, fortunately comfortable. I emailed LLBean about the problem.I was informed I needed to return the shoes to get a refund. So I carried the shoes for almost 3 weeks until I returned home. Ugh!
I'd recommend you stick with Gore-tex.

I have purchased several pairs of LL Bean hiking shoes through the years. Some I have loved and wore out; all did the job and fit well. Until this pair. These did not fit me and we're also stiff and uncomfortable. Sent them back.
