I purchased this same shoe in Burgundy in 8W, and it fit perfectly. The blue in 8W is too narrow and too short, They are supposed to be the same shoe, with just the color being different. Blue in 9W was a better fit in length, but still a little too narrow. I'm giving up on the blue.

Way too tight. I ordered my normal size, then exchanged for a wide width. But it still smooshes my feet. I went to a brick and mortar store today to try on other hiking shoes, just to make sure it wasn't me and that's how they are supposed to fit. Nope. I'll be sending these back for a refund.

Stated sizes are incorrect. After two attempts (buying allegedly 8W and 8.5W) I give up and will buy hiking shoes elsewhere. I'm tired of schlepping mislabeled shoes to UPS drop-off. Wide is not wide!!!

I bought two pair of Summer Sneakers and the Trail Model Hiker 4 low in the last nine months. Those were a great fit. These shoes are completely different. I must send them back.

I had a pair of these a few years ago and I loved them. I had to tape up my heels and the shoe in order to not get horrible blisters but they were an awesome shoe despite that. When I finally had too many blisters to forgive them any longer, they went into the trash. I was happy to have found them again and was hoping the new design would have remedied the blister problem. It didn't. They are lots heavier, more stiff, and really unwearable. Very disappointed.

I had this shoe many years ago and I loved them, BUT for the fact that I got very large blisters whenever I wore them. I padded my heals and padded the shoe, but it never quite worked. I ordered it again because I thought LLBean might have improved it. Unfortunately, the shoe is even more boxy, very heavy, and very very stiff. I hate to send them back, but the new design is even more uncomfortable than the original styling.
I'd also recommend:
TOPO Athletic. A very nice shoe with a wide toe box but a snug heel and light weight.

I have had several pairs of these shoes and never a problem with the fit. I have literally relied on these shoes for their comfort. I ordered these several months ago and waited patiently for a pair to be in stock because I love the fit and the waterproof feature for walking the dogs in the rain. I finally received them and they are too short and narrow, no way I could wear socks of any thickness. I don't know if this pair was mislabeled or if LL Bean has changed their pattern for this shoe but after experience with several pair this was a definite change and I will not be able to wear them. Since they don't come any larger, not much I can do, so disappointing.

Stiff, heavy, clunky, unyielding — couldn’t take it off fast enough!

I wear a C width, so I should be able to wear a heavier sock in a D width shoe, but couldn't. Also, unbelievable pressure on top of large toenails after wearing for 1/2 hr. caused excruciating pain.

Unfortunately, I had to return these shoes as the side of the shoe rubbed against my ankle bone, making it painful to walk any distance. They are described as "low" but they are not cut low enough to avoid hitting against my ankle.

I really wanted this pair of shoes to work out. They were long enough and wide enough and really very beautiful but they felt like wood blocks on my feet. Extremely stiff unlike I've seen any other shoes. Not sure why they were so inflexible.

Horrible fit. Painful. Tried to improve with expanders and wearing around house to break them in but just couldn't endure the discomfort. Sending back ASAP.

I was so disapppointed. I needed a wide hiker with low countours. The 4 certainly had those traits but was stiff and hard on the interior- very uncomfortable to walk in. I need something with more cushioning inside the shoe as well as the sturdy exterior.

I normally take a 7W. I was disappointed that the wide shoe was not wide enough. I returned them.

These shoes were really heavy. I wore them a bit around the house and trying too hard to like them. I finally returned them. They looked really nice, but just too heavy. Sad.

The fit and comfort were good. I've worn about 6 months and both soles are wearing away. Not what I expected at all. Furthermore, they were not waterproof. I've had Bean hiking shoes before that I could recommend. These quite frankly were awful in durability.

My previous pair fit great. This pair is very narrow even though it says wide. Mislabeled? I can't even get my foot in it! I am returning them.

The shoe fit at first it felt a little snug but now its better. I'm disappointed on the fact it is not waterproof. It seemed to be at first but now just walking in morning grass my feet are soaked just like with my regular sneakers. The price is not worth it. I can't seem to find waterproof sneakers. I'm really really disappointed. I wanted to take a picture but I have them in the sun to dry so you can't see the wetness right now.

Although I had the generation prior, and love them, these were cut too narrow and short and had to be returned. Bummer.

These hurt my feet from day one, but I kept hoping that they would "break in", but they're just not. Very disappointing, considering how much I paid for them.

I was so excited to wear my new waterproof Trail Model Hiker sneaks. As soon as I tried them on I knew they had to be returned. Major disappointment. Both shoes were too short as my big toes hit the very top of the shoe and the width was way too small. In fact, the right shoe was extremely tight. I wear a winter weight sock and have worn the same kind of socks in my former waterproof Trek 2.5 snow sneakers from L.L. Bean in the same size and width. They were great and fit perfectly. Again, major disappointment.

I've ordered these same shoes in the past. They were fine. In fact, I ve ordered many shoes in the past and never had a problem. But these shoes hurt my feet from day one. Can't seem to break them in. Sore feet.

I had two pairs of this shoe. I ended up throwing out one pair after the first hike b/c they are so uncomfortable. They are absolutely not padded enough (after hiking a mountain trail, I tried running back down the road for a few miles and could feel everything). They also run way too large. I usually wear an 8, and an 8.5 in running/hiking/ski shoes. An 8.5 in these felt way too big, even with cushy socks. I would definitely not recommend. I will probably throw out the other pair when I get home, I hate them that much.
