Had to return. Too tight/inflexible across the top of my foot. Also, too heavy of a shoe.

I purchased these shoes for an upcoming trip to Scotland. I wanted something waterproof. The day after they arrived I wore them for two miles on a wet road. They kept my feet dry, for sure. But they were too clunky feeling. I was hoping for a lighter weight, easily packable pair of hiking shoes. These were not that. They're good looking shoes, and comfortable. But they just feel like they take up too much space on my feet. I exchanged them for another brand and am hoping those work better for what I need. I've ordered many pairs of hiking shoes and boots from LLBEAN and have loved them all, never returned any. These just weren't exactly what I was looking for.

I returned these because of the fit. They felt bulky and klunky when I walked in them. I am overall petite was needing something light weight and waterproof for beach walking and gardening. The heel curved in so far it actually was uncomfortable. From a style perspective as I look down on the shoe it looked way too wide and bulky. Just not for me.

I wanted so much for these shoes to work for me. I need a wide women's shoe which isn't an easy thing to find. These were rugged enough for the trail & stylish enough for running around town. But even the wide width was just too narrow for my feet. So sorry that I had to send these back. My quest for comfortable hiking shoe continues!

While the shoe looked great, I have a wide foot and these were to tight. I am sorry to have to take them back

Liked the color and style but the fit just wasn't comfortable at all for me with a high instep. Did return these.

The shoe looked nice. I like the color. However, it was extremely stiff. I really tried walking with the shoes, but again never was flexible. I ended up returning them.

I haven't had the opportunity to test the waterproof quality of this shoe, which was highly important to me, but the fit is my main disappointment. These shoes hurt my feet more than any other shoe ever has. No allowance for high arches and the natural transition of height from toes to instep cause my feet to ache after an hour of hiking or walking in them. I have loved LL Bean boots and shoes in the past so perhaps this is an outlier or a result of different shape/sizing from the country in which they are made. I live in the Pacific NorthWest so I need a waterproof hiking shoe 10 months out of the year.

These shoes didn't work for me. I ordered them because wide was available and they looked good. After wearing them inside for a couple days, I was still hesitant about comfort, but took them anyway to CO for hiking. My mistake; they are heavy, stiff, and not very comfortable. I'll use them this winter for neighborhood walks.

sturdy, Lacks arch support, stiff and pressing at points on top of foot near ankle and back of ankle. Best to break in slowly around the house, and worn with crew socks, improves over time - need to add arch support.

Unfortunately I had to return the shoes. I believe the shoes were missed marked by there size. They were not 7.5 wide which I ordered.

I was looking for a winter walking shoe, these do not have enough cushion in the sole for daily walks on all sorts of surfaces. I used them once on a trail - they felt very stiff.

Runs small. Had to order one size larger than regular 8. Not good arch support. A bit thick and clunky. A bit too expensive to make myself like them.

I really wanted to love these shoes. They look great and the color is gorgeous. The top of the shoe around the ankle is extremely stiff and cuts right into my ankle, though. They hurt just trying to walk around the kitchen. They also run small -- I consistently always wear a 7 1/2 but these shoes were too tight in that size, both in width and length, even with my lightest weight socks. I don't know how they'd do on the trail because they're too uncomfortable to even try to break in.

These trail hikers are very attractive to look at. But they are stiff and heavy. I'm disappointed and am returning them.

It's a lot of shoe -- too much for me. I'd like a waterproof shoe for hiking on muddy trails and running errands in poor weather, but I don't want to look like I'm conquering Everest at the mall. Too stiff, too high off the ground, hits my ankles in an awkward way, looks too clunky. Not sure how well it actually works -- sent it back after walking around the family room.

Great looking shoe but very snug uncomfortable fit at top of foot. I am returning. Recommend purchasing one size up.

I take an 8.5 or a 9. Sometimes regular width, sometimes wide. I ordered a 9 wide. It was far too narrow and very uncomfortable. it was uncomfortable under the top of my footbed and too snug on the sides. I was very surprised as I'd previously ordered the higher version of this shoe and loved the fit of the foot part, but did not like the part that went up my leg (it was too tight) so ordered this to replace that purchase. Now I am returning these and doubt I will buy shoes online again. The return process is easy, I just wish they would have worked.

It is too high on my inner ankle which caused me to return them. I was really hoping for a successful pain free fit as they are very attractive low hikers.

They are comfortable on the bottom (lots of cushioning). However, if you have ankles, these might not be the best choice. The area around my ankles got so sore from the stiff material rubbing against them. The only way I could tolerate wearing them at all was to make the laces as loose as possible. I wouldn't recommend them.

Ordered size 10 and 11. I take a 9 1/2. The 10 fit with a half ankle medium thick golf sock. I have very narrow feet/toes. Ten fit but a little too wide. Arch was not supportive but more soft. The described color was not true color. They are mostly black with just a touch of green trim. Not quite as pictured So sent back and ordered a different LLBean tennis shoe that I love and is the perfect fit. :-)
