I was looking forward to these boots because they were listed available in a Wide width. I have foot problems and couldn't find any other womens Wide hiking boots . Sadly the Wide fit me like a medium. Otherwise I would have kept them. They seemed very nice and good LLBean quality.

Well made but super weighty. Felt like I was walking in Herman Munster shoes.

I wanted to love this shoe but it ran way too short and too narrow for me. Also the sole seems too stiff for my natural gait. Love most LLBean stuff but I must return these.

I was not really on the hunt for some new hikers but saw these flipping through a catalog. I'm usually a Keen gal but loved the blue color, the wide option, and have been a L.L. Bean-er for 35+ years, so I figured I'd give 'em a try.
The color is great, they are substantial, well-made, maybe a tad stiff. The issue I had was they came up a little too high on the ankle and were painful when I laced up. I wore them around the house to see if I could make adjustments but just couldn't take how painful and uncomfortable my ankles felt. I do have thick ankles so that I'm sure makes a huge difference.
I really, really wanted to keep them but I knew they would just sit in my mud room. I'm bummed. I'd still recommend them to others, even though I can't review the sole or waterproof material.

Really needed shoes for hiking. Loved the color but these were so clunky I couldn't imagine wearing them for hours. Just too oversized. Hiking shoes generally are heavier and not streamlined like running shoes but these just don't work. Although the sizing is right, they feel like wearing boxes on your feet.

I have narrow feet anyway 7 1/2 - but wear thick socks for trail hikers- felt so narrow - my feet tingled I loosened the laces as much as possible!!
Will not reorder- keen is a better fit-
Very waterproof though!!

I have a flat, narrow foot, so I never know how things will run for me. I was bummed this shoe didn't work out, but it was mostly due to my odd foot. I would recommend others trying it, but I had to send it back.

This is a very attractive well made shoe. I really liked them and did all I could do to get them broke in. Unfortunately the shoe is very stiff and too heavy and every time I've worn them feet hurt.

My feet don't sweat but the water proofing in these makes my feet soaked. Bad wicking design in the materials.
The lack of an arch in the shoe makes them uncomfortable to wear. There isn't room in the shoe to add an insert.
I don't recommend these for the price or the lack of comfort.
The rubber sole is hard and can be slippery.

I purchased these for a hiking weekend because I read they were comfortable for walking. And mostly, they are. However, they cut in at the heel - not in a way that causes blisters, but rather in a way that bruises the area of my Achilles' tendon. I will keep wearing them, but they've got at least 20 miles of breaking in in them, and it is still an issue.

The hiking shoes fit but they were too masculine looking and very heavy. I am going to return them. I would not purchase this style again.

I use them almost every day to walk my dog in the woods or on pavement. Water proofing lasted about a year. Now when I walk on tall wet grass my feet get soaked even if I'm not walking into a puddles. This wasn't a problem when they were new. So after spending all that money, I. Need a new pair of waterproof shoes.

They fit well for the most part. But they are pretty stiff and heavy. And don't seem to be breaking in well. I can wear them for a short time, but won't be able to use them for 1-2 hour dog walks, which is why I ordered them. So, if someone just wants them for errands, etc, they would probably be ok. But I am disappointed in them. I thought they would be more comfortable.

I wanted to like this shoe, but it just didn't work for me. The D width is too narrow in the toe box & the shoe feels clunky, heavy & very stiff. I am returning it. On positive side, shoe seems very well made & sturdy.

I wanted a sturdy walking shoe/hiker. It was good until after 8 months of only moderate to slight wear the lining at the back of the heel wore through and caused rubbing and blister. The front also shows wear where it bends. I have reordered a pair in hopes it was a one off defective one. I am disappointed. They refunded my money. Refunds and exchanges are good within a year I understand.

Wanted to love these but just wasn't feeling it. To narrow for me in toe area and just overall to clunky. I had a pair of no tie ones for years and was hoping to find them. Wish they would bring them back.

I wear a size 9W. It fits perfectly! I had enough room for my toes, however, I will be returning this pair. My first reason is it is too stiff. Maybe with more wear, it will loosen up but I am not patient. The second reason why I am returning this that it hits my right ankle bone and after a 3-mile hike I develop a blister at my ankle bone.

This shoe looks good, and is made well, but for me it was too bulky and heavy. I wanted to wear this shoe as I worked in my garden and yard, especially for the waterproof feature. However, they were just too heavy and "clunky" for me to wear.

I always wear 8 C/D in New Balance shoes, so that is what I ordered in spite of what some reviewers said. These were a bit short and a bit narrow. Had to try out with very thin socks and they were quite uncomfortable in a short amount of time. I was looking for more of a sneaker to wear in bad weather and these were more like hikers. If that is what you are looking for, they were OK and seemed well made. Just remember to go up a half size. They weren't for me though and went back.

I like the look of these hiking shoes but they are just too tight for my feet. My first pair were in my usual size -- 6 1/2. And I got them in "wide." After a couple of hours the toes in my left foot started to go numb and my right foot was aching. So I exchanged them for 7 wide and they still bothered my feet. I am going to return them this weekend and try a different brand.

I purchased these because I owned a pair of them a few years back. These hikers runs a bit short in the length and much too narrow for a D (wide) width. I don't have a particularly wide foot but there is just not enough width at the forefront of the shoe. The little toes end up being squished a bit especially if you wear a thicker sock. These shoes would be perfect if the toe was a bit rounder instead of being narrowed to a point. The older version of these hiking shoes were rounded in the toe. Also, the shoes themselves are very stiff and I returned them because I did not believe that the shoe would stretch with continued wear. Hopefully there will be some design changes in the future especially for those with wide feet.

I walk about 5 miles a day, so I need a good walking shoe that will last more than a couple of months. These seem like they will. However, I have worn them for 9 days and they are still very stiff around the ankle. They are indeed loosening up, but I am glad I don't give up easily.

I bought these for six days of walking in the English Lake District, where it seems to drizzle (or worse) for part of every day. For light drizzle they were fine. When the rain got heavier, my feet were soon soaking wet.
The shoes are quite comfortable, so I will keep them for future walks in dryer climates.
