I gave the shoe 3 stars because of the size. I have a narrow foot and all Bean shoes are medium wide or wide. I just can't imagine that I am the only narrow footed woman on the planet. That said, I sent them back and bought another bean hiker. It is wide also, however I innersoled them and wear thicker than summer thin socks. I wear my hikers every day2-3 miles, dirt, gravel, paved, up hills and down all weather conditions because I have two large dogs who need walks. Bought a different brand 2 years ago and they are literally deteriorating in front of my eyes. I also have a hiker (no tread left) that I have had for almost 15 and they are still my go to in the afternoons. The quality is there, the sizing, not so much.

Very well made pair of shoes! I had to order larger than normal. It will be awhile before I break them in. Wear with thick socks.

I was disappointed in the fit of the Trail Shoes. Even though I ordered a wide they where still to narrow. They where also very stiff. I have the hiking boot version and they fit great.

Runs small. I bought a size larger than I normally wear and these are still too tight.

Super stiff! Digs into my ankle. Not sure I can keep them. Also, no cushion - might need some sort of insert.

I wanted to love this shoe but it's much too narrow and a little shorter than my other shoes. I ordered my usual size, 8 1/2 medium. It's also stiff. I will return them.

I walk my dog in all kinds of weather every day. I was looking for a true waterproof walking shoe. Unfortunately this one is not. Walking him in wet grass, my feet did not stay dry. They weren't "immersed" in water but walked a few miles in wet grass. They are a little stiff starting out but they loosen up. If the had been waterproof I would have given them 5 stars.

These shoes were a pretty color and seemed well-made, but they did not work for me and I returned them. They were very stiff, and although I did order a wide width, they still did not seem wide enough for me to wear with heavy socks during the winter.

I bought my usual size 8 but the shoe was way too tight, even with thin socks. The toe box was narrow, which made it very uncomfortable just putting it on. The shoe is nicely made though. But I had to return it. It needs a bigger toe box and size up if you want to wear heavy winter socks.

This is a nice shoe but not wide enough for me so had to go back.

I usually have such good luck with LL Bean shoes, but these hikers were so incredibly narrow that trying to break them in wasn't even an option.

A good looking shoe. Returned them as they were incredibly heavy. Each shoe felt like lifting a 5 lb sack of flour.

This may be a great shoe for the right fit. I knew better than to order shoes on line. I bought 8.5 which is my normal size but the shoe was terribly uncomfortable. Not sure if it was the shoe itself or the fit.

I ordered in 'wide', they were not wide. I ordered 2 pair at once, size 7.5 and size 8. They were both too tight/narrow. My foot is medium wide, I can get away with regular size sometimes. Other then that, v a very nice shoe.

Nice shoe, nice color; haven't worn yet because very snug. My normal size but much tighter fit than past boots bearing your name. Didn't feel like returning and going to what? Size 10? Used to be 8 1/2, then went up to 9 due to products being unreliable. 9 1/2D might've done it but seems a stretch. Literally.

I love the way they look but they didn't fit me well. My foot shape and the shoe shape simply didn't work well for some reason. I didn't find them to have enough cushioning under my foot either. I had planned on them as a hiking shoe but knew we weren't meant to be so I returned them for a different style, which highly met my expectations. Thankful that I could do that!

I received my order in a timely matter ..I really liked the style & color. But, even though I ordered the wide width, the shoe did not accommodate my orthotics, so I had to send them back!

The shoes were attractive and felt solid. However, they were too snug all the way around even though they were the size and width I usually wear, so I returned them.

Seems like a great shoe, but sadly even the wide size did not accommodate my bunion. Sent them back, will keep looking for something with more stretch and flexibility on the toe joint.

Hiking shoes are very stiff, my feet would get numb in them. It took a lot of short walks to break them in to where I could wear them for longer periods of time. On the positive side they are very well made and have great treads for hiking.

The shoes were comfortable in the forefoot. But because they lack an extra grommet at the top it was not possible to tighten them enough to stop the heel from slipping.
