This shoe is all that it's advertised to be and more. My wife has worn it while horse riding in the rain and the muddy soil is no match for the grip the shoe provides. It's totally waterproof and she has commented more than a few times on how comfortable the shoe is. It's lightweight and based on what she has put the shoe through, very durable. Couldn't be more pleased with the product. Congrats to L.L.Bean!

Another bean shoe that works well for me! I need solid support with my high arches and chronic Achilles' tendon pain. A slipping shoe or weak support pulls too much on tendon. These shoes are great. They may be a little "clunky" or heavier, but it is just what I wanted. Just a couple short hikes but so far so great! Yes, shoelaces are somewhat annoying because they untie a lot but play kid and double knot them! Very good hiking traction.

I'm a 40 yr old born Maine who wears leg braces for Cerebral Palsy. this is the only shoe durable enough & with enough support to wear with my leg braces & I have purchased the same shoe from LL Bean, for more years than I can count. Excellent Traction as well. I consider myself hard on shoes, & these shoes hardly show wear, even considering my CP. I would & have highly recommend these shoes for purchase

I haven't bought these in a couple of years and I had forgotten how firmly they support my feet. They are sturdy and waterproof, too! I'm throwing my older ones out now.

I purchased these shoes 10 months ago. I'm really happy with them. They are very sturdy and well made.I will buy again if they ever wear out.

I need wide width for room in the toe box. These are just right, but they surely don't look like wide sizing. The collar surrounding the ankle was stiff and uncomfortable at first. I manually kneaded and flexed the area on each shoe for a good amount of time before wearing, and that solved the problem. They were very comfortable from the first wearing.

A little stiff at first, but after wearing them and getting them broke in, they are very comfortable to wear.

These are so light weight and comfortable. First time I wore them Was hiking in airports, and back east. Hiked miles in them! No breaking in. Wore light pair of socks. Maine was beastly hot in August and my feet were not sweating. There is ample breathing. Like wearing a sturdy running shoe.

I ordered this hiking shoe for moderate hiking distances on trail and sidewalk outings. First, I was pleasantly surprised how well they fit and how comfortable they were on the first wear. My foot is not narrow, but more of a slim fit and these shoes offered ample room for mid-weight to heavier socks. Second, I love the firmness of the sole, because it offers me great support on uneven terrain and helps take the stress off of my knees. I opted for the plum/grey because they were on sale. I love the soft color combination. I ordered the same size I wear in my running shoes, and these were true to size.

I am grateful to other reviewers re: size - sometimes I get a 6 1/2 but I'm glad I got a 7 D width for this shoe - it's a very comfortable fit. I have owned these for almost 3 months. They kept my feet dry while walking in wet grass and while camping and day-hiking in damp conditions over a 2-week period. I crossed shallow (< 1" deep) creeks in them, but did not try walking through any deeper puddles. They are sturdy well-made trail shoes.

These shoes were very comfortable from the get go. I wore them around the house for several hours first and then over the next week I went on several 5 and 6 mile hikes. They were comfortable throughout.

Comfortable right out of the box. Fit is true to size. Will be wearing hiking, and running around. Shoe is a bit heavy, but to be expected from a sturdy hiking shoe. No rolled ankles in these! Love the shoes!

I ordered two pair of these shoes since some reviews said they run small. I found that my size (6.5) fit perfectly and I sent the larger size back. These shoes were 90% comfortable right out of the box, with the other 10% being due to slight stiffness. They seem to be adjusting to my feet as I wear them, so no complaints. I have not worn them much since I have a foot injury right now, but expect to get a lot of use from them. And they look great!

I really like the trail model hikers. I've been wearing them for years, through all the various subtle changes, and they are a wonderful shoe. They are waterproof, so if you actually wear them for hiking, which I do, your feet stay dry. They are also great as a normal wear-anywhere shoe. I usually have two pairs in use, one for mud and one to look presentable. In this shoe, I have learned to order 1/2 size up. My feet are size 8 wide, but in the trail model hikers I have to order a size 8 1/2 wide. All in all a very nice shoe and LL Bean always offers a color that I like.

I like these "boots". They are quite comfortable and a good fit. They are not comfortable when driving a car however. The soles are rugged and do not allow a driver to feel the pedals. Other than that I like them (just use other shoes to drive).

I was looking for a pair of lightweight, waterproof, comfortable shoes to walk around soggy Ireland and Iceland for an upcoming cruise. These are perfect. I plan to break them in (though comfy from the start) during the coming months and then put them to great use!

I have several other pairs in different colors. I love the fit (I buy a wide to accommodate Smart Wool socks and for comfort). I can hike (moderate hiking -- on trails) all day with no discomfort. These are fantastic and I've been afraid they'd discontinue them. So glad they haven't!

I really like these shoes. They fit well and are pretty true to size. I bought a 9 because I have orthotics. I haven't put them in yet, just trying to break them in first. I hope the orthotics don't create a problem. If I have any complaint, it would be the shoe laces. They keep coming untied so I have to double bow them, like I did with my kids shoes.

Great fit, very comfortable and awesome feel. My husband bough the men's version a few years ago, we loves them. They seem to hold up well and still look good. Now I know why he like his shoes so much.
