True to size, these hiking boots are fantastic! I am thrilled with how well they performed through moderate hiking trails, including a short trip through an alpine lake in the Colorado Rockies. They are durable, comfortable, definitely waterproof! They still look great after a week in the mountains. I look forward to many more hikes with these shoes.

I bought these shoes mainly for winter dog walking on snow/ice pavement. The shoe has a nice firm/stiff sole, grippy and less slipping on ice and snow. I have worn them a bit on the trail as well. Great shoes and fit true to size.

This is my third pair of LL Bean hiking shoes in 30+ years. (shows how long they last for a moderate outdoor person). Just got them and they got a trial by fire on a very wet and muddy week in the WV mountains. My feet stayed dry and the shoes were very comfortable. I am very pleased - was worried I would miss the old ones which I also liked.

Going to Africa and wanted to break in new shoes in advance. These were trouble free and comfortable on day one. They fit well, I got them wet accidentally and my feet stayed dry. They are light weight enough for my packing restrictions.

Love them. They fit perfectly from the very first time I put them on. I had read reviews that they mentioned stiffness, but really I did not feel any discomfort at all. They are amazing when you walk on pebbles and stone covered trails. They also provide great support for my arches. Definitely recommend!

Great shoetruly water proof even in 3 inch puddles. Good tread and lots of ankle support. Other shoes (different vendors) with comparable features cost 20-30% more and few are available in Wide. No signs of wear after about 30 hard mileshope they last!

I've had several pairs of these shoes and wear them just about every day for day hikes and dog-walking. They fit well and are extremely durable.

I have a search and rescue dog so I need a good hiking shoe. These shoes are sturdy but light. I wore them in the woods on a light snowy day and my feet stayed dry. Love that I can wear a lighter shoe and switch out with my hiking boots.

I so wanted to keep these but they rubbed my inside ankle bone--for me they were built too high in this area. Excellent quality--sorry I had to return.

Everything about these shoes is top quality, especially the sole. Good solid tread. The shoe itself is so well crafted and looks good on feet. My problem is that I have large ankles and largish calves. The sides of these shoes comes up to the ankle and has too much pressure. I think on a person with a normal size ankle and wearing a thick pair of hiking socks these would be just the shoe. One more positive note... I wear a 9.5 and even with a bunion on the big toe the medium size fit fine and my foot was comfortable...

The shoe fits exactly as advertised. A thick pair of socks should be used when hiking; otherwise, regular socks are fine in town. Definitely keeps the feet warm and dry. Highly recommend. I look forward to many years of use!

I've never ordered a pair of L.L.Bean hikers, being low or high hikers that I didn't like. These fit perfect. I wear a 9.5 W. & that's what I ordered, perfect! I will say @ the ankles it's a little high but, I love my hikers. Better then any tennis, walking shoe and cheaper too. And I know these hikers will last longer too. Bought these shoes for trail hiking as well as just walking my dog. The toe area is roomy, which will allow heavy socks in the winter. They are extremely comfortable. My feet do not "over heat,'' even after a two hour hike. I recommend them highly.

These are the 5th pair of shoes I have gotten from L L Bean. Shoes are great and don't need to be broken in. The shoes last forever, my old ones are 3 years old and just showing wear on the soles even after being worn almost every day for my delivery job. Would and have recommended Bean shoes to many people.

A little heavy for everyday wear, but my ankles are so supported I never want to take them off. Plus, when got lost in the woods wearing these and accidentally walked right into a pond, my feet stayed completely dry! A+ accessory for hapless hikers, would recommend.

After more than 10 years, my previous pair of trail model hiking shoes, a mid-cut, showed serious signs of age. I'm not a hiker, but I do a lot of walking, both on and off pavement. I need shoes that fit and offer adequate support and traction. I saw the style was still available, ordered the current low cut, and crossed my fingers. Yes, the fit and quality are the same. Very pleased.

I love the Trail Model 4 Waterproof hiking shoes, and I use them for walking my dog outside in the fields and woods and some wet areas. These boots have good traction and are protective and stable. I walk about an hour and a half through this terrain every day, and they are comfortable and keep my feet dry. Recently I've started wearing low gaiters with them for extra protection against mud and ticks.
