I have low arches, overpronate, and wear orthotics with a neutral shoe. My orthotics did not work with Hoka's neutral options but I desperately wanted to experience running in the brand so I tried the most supportive shoe they offer. If you're looking for a shoe with extreme motion control, this is it. Personally, I found this model to be TOO stiff and narrow. They were uncomfortable during my 4 mile run. I couldn't wait to take them off. The inserts that come with the shoe dug into the outer side of my foot. I think this shoe will be good for some people, like walkers. For runners, prepare for a stiff ride.

I have three pairs of the Gaviota 3's in medium width and they fit perfectly. I ordered light blue and love the color. The width is much narrower in the toes (or maybe the fabric doesn't stretch as much?). I went to order it in wide and the 4's do not come in wide!!! The 3's came in both widths. I need the support and the cushion for my feet and the 3's were the only shoe that fit the bill.

I walk a lot & the fit was not the same as other 10s I've had. Not true to size.

I understand that materials are hard to find these days but it is very disappointing that Hoka seems to be unable to produce or stock a version of Gaviota in a wide that is not some loud obnoxious color, at least. I always purchased the Gore Tex version in the wide before and had to settle for this one last time. I have large, professionally made orthotics that I have to wear in my shoes and need a wide shoe. I normally wear a 7.5 wide but had to go all the way up to a 9 in this shoe to accommodate the orthotics. My feet are sliding around in these but, nonetheless, Hoka even still is the brand that causes me the least foot pain, so I will have to live with these until better selections are available.
Disappointed,

This Gaviota4 fits differently than the Gaviota 3. It does not have as much cushion.

My first pair of Hokas were the Gaviata 3's. They had a nice wide tread, lightweight "cloud-like" feel when walking and very comfortable. I joke that they ruined me and I can't wear ANY shoes now thanks to those sneakers! I walk about 4 miles a day around sandy cranberry bogs and literally wore them out. Bought them in September, but they were toast by April. The lining inside is torn, the material starting to split by the toes and the tread shows significant wear, so it was time to get new ones. Thought I'd try the Gaviota 4s as it seemed like the best replacement for what I had, but in all black (which was no longer in stock for Gaviota 3). The Gaviota 4 shoes had more "road feel" less "cloud" than my Gaviota 3s. They felt more plush around my heel which I liked, but tighter and narrower elsewhere. The 4s in the same size look significantly different from the 3s--less wide of a tread/narrower, not as supportive in the arch. After one lap, the arch in my foot started aching. Back they go! I have learned my lesson and will get the Gaviota 3 not matter what ugly color combo they come in, lol--they are definitely the best shoes for me! Also, if you could have all back options, that would be SO GREAT!

I had Bondi shoes in the past. But wanted to try these for the black color. They are tight and hard, not plush AT ALL. The bond's are wayyyyy better. In pain as we speak. Recovering from Ankle fusion. These are an expensive paperweight.

Initially very comfortable. Now less than a year later, they are falling apart. 95% used for slow (~18 min mile) walks 2 or 3 days week. I have shoes 2x as old that don't look this bad. They are literally ready for the dumpster.

Hoka used to run large and recommended size was my normal shoe size. I ordered them and way too small. Also feels like there's no arch support and cushioning so back they go.

I had the shoes less than a year and the lining started to break through the material on the heel of the shoe and the shoe strap on the back of the shoe broke. Zappos did not replace the shoe and did not uphold Hoka's year long warranty.

I was excited to try them after all the hype. Now I am not Hayworth my decision. I did Afterpay thinking it would e easier to get a refund. I sent the shoes back by UPS with code from the company Zappos. I still have Afterpay taking payment. The installments are about to be done. Looks like I am out the money for the shoes and the shoes.

I needed a stable shoe but this one is too stiff, no give, nothing like my other Hokas. I will be returning these. I Love all my other Hokas, these just aren't right for me.

I have had several pairs of Hokas and I really like them. I've only had this pair for 2 months and the lining is ripped I'm pretty disappointed in the workmanship as these are not inexpensive trainers.

The absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced. They did not deliver either of our two orders, then proceeded to not refund our money. We will have to find a different company to buy our shoes from. For how expensive these are and to care so little for your customers, absolutely unacceptable.
