The sides are not cut low enough so the bottom of my ankle bone that sticks out gets rubbed as I walk creating a sore. I like the sturdiness of the shoe's construction I have not been able to loosen it enough to get rid of this rubbing.

I've been trying to break these in for months and still they are too stiff, support uneven. Expected better from LLBean, especially at this price point.

Although I like the appearance and the fact that they are waterproof I am disappointed in the fit. I have always worn size 11 1/2 medium width footwear including that which I purchased from LL Bean. I found that these were too tight. Not sure whether I needed a half size larger or a wider width I returned them to a local LL Bean store. There I tried on and purchased the wider shoe. They do fit better but in truth they are not the most comfortable pair of shoes as they are hard and heavy.

Wide is not wide. As with many LLBean branded boots, the uppers are too high, stiff and dig into the ankle bone.

First the good: the soles are grippy and all but indestructible. They've held their shape very well through lots and lots of (often wet) trail walks that include gravel, rocks and dirt. These trail shoes are comfortable, roomy at the toe and reasonably waterproof.
The bad: the liner wears out surprisingly quickly at the heel and the ankle.
So, next time, whoever designed the sole, please give them a shot at designing a more durable liner.

These fit okay and looked okay, and I love it that they were waterproof, but they were too stiff for my needs.

Very comfortable well-fitting shoes but after almost 2 years, the material inside the shoes where it meets the upper heel started to wear and shred. But the soles are great and show little wear. I've worn other similar hiking shoes for much longer, constructed of similar materials, where the sole finally wore down but the rest of the shoe held up! Somewhat disappointing and would not purchase again.

Style much narrower and shorter, then my past purchases. At 74 yrs. old don't think my feet are growing that much. Got the biggest size (13 EE) and hope they stretch a bit..

It runs a little narrow for my feet. Not comfortable on the toe bar area.

I have other shoes that are 12EE, including a pair from Bean, that fit me just fine. These were very tight and short.

It's a good looking shoe with good support. I have always worn an E width until almost all shoe companies decided only two widths were necessary...D (medium) and EE (wide). I ordered the wide and even though by size it should have been too wide, it is a bit tight. Reading reviews, LL Bean seems to have a reputation for shoes running narrower and shorter than advertised, You would think a company with this reputation could fix that.

I haven't used them yet. I am scheduled to go hiking with them in Mid August in Canada. I will not be able to rate them until after that time.

They look like great shoes, but I am so frustrated that they are too narrow. I have narrow feet, but these MED D shoes are too narrow. I am shocked. I am debating about ordering the Wide EE, but I have NEVER ordered wide shoes before. I am not thrilled with having to pay $6.50 each time to try on a shoe.

The first hiking shoes received were not a pair. Left had higher side wall and cut into my ankle bone. Customer service was very understanding and sent an expedited second pair with free shipping for the return. Second pair fit better, but still hit ankle bones. I kept them; use them with a bit of discomfort. I like them but would warn potential buyers of possibility of returning.

Unfortunately the waterproofing doesn't last very long. I used these to walk my dog during a wet spring. After about 3 months of daily use tramping through wet grass, my socks now come out soaked. Comfortable though.

Nice looking sneakers, excellent construction but not wide enough for me. Would purchase again if they have extra wide width.

The WIDE was more narrow than the regular size fit of other brands. I really liked he look; but they were too tight to keep.

Cheap, short laces that won't stay tied. Your rep suggested I should go out and buy my own laces for two or three dollars!!! and that there is nothing wrong with the shoe.

It really isn't fare for me to review these shoes because I couldn't even get my feet into them. I generally wear a 4E shoe. These shoes seem well made. If you think they might fit, give them a try.
