He absolutely loves this shoe. He's planning to wear it this summer hiking but in the meantime has been wearing it to work and loving how comfortable it is. Great gift!

I usually wear a size 8 1/2 regular....I followed the advise of others an bought a 9 EE. The fit is good and was able to wear them on a 4 mile hike the first day ! I also got the gray color and like the red highlites....don't much care for the shoes people try to sell nowadays that are a bright red or orange..looks like silly clown shoes !!!

Very comfortable shoe for daily wear. Live in Colorado and feet stay warm and dry even in the snow. Would recommend these to anyone looking for a light weight daily wear type shoe.

I'd always bought walking/hiking shoes at a local store to make sure they fit and felt good. I've had Merrells and Patagonias, among others. I was a little cautious about ordering shoes by mail. But the LL Bean shoes were a perfect fit, didn't really need any breaking in, and feel good (I always wear wool socks with them). The price was 10 to 20 percent less than my previous shoe purchases.

I bought these low cut boots for a trip to Machu Piccu and loved them. They provided great stability hiking on the rocky and uneven terrain. The sole is sturdy with a bit of flexibility so your feet doesn't take a beating. The traction provided strong grip even in the slick conditions there. It started raining on our hike and the boot kept my feet dry. The shoes are super comfortable too, which is surprising given they are hiking boots. I find these shoes are excellent in the snow as well. I have snow boots but have started to wear these instead.

I am very happy with my shoe purchase. They were delivered earlier that expected. They have a very good fit for wide feet, making them very comfortable. They didn't take long to break in. We now have some slush from previous snowfall so will soon enjoy the waterproof feature! Thanks for making an affordable and quality shoe.

First, a couple of minor criticisms. Although not the ugliest shoes I have ever worn, I don't think they are especially attractive either - maybe they will grow on me. My 10.5 medium width pair fit like a glove with the middle weight socks recommended, but are wearably snug with the heavy woolen socks that I will wear for my intended use, winter urban and country hiking. Other than that, these are very comfortable out of the box with moderately supportive arches with a cushioned insert, are waterproof, have a very grippy tread with a moderately flexible sole, are kind of middle weight for a hiking shoe, which makes them very lightweight for a winter boot, and waterproof. They were delivered in 1 day. Native Mainers know Bean's for quality at peerless value and with the 20% discount, these hikers at $71 compare favorably with other hikers I've worn at $120-$140.

Not yet tried them on trails; I've been "breaking them in" around the house... Quite comfortable and attractively designed. I bought these based on my satisfaction with a previous purchase of hiking boots from L.L. Bean.

I was looking for a waterproof alternative to athletic shoes for cool, rainy days. I have worn these hikers now in the rain and also on dry days walking through the local park. Although they are not quite as comfortable as a good walking shoe, they are close, plus my feet stay dry. I would buy these shoes again. The fit is what I expected.

I had ordered this shoe back in May in size 10 1/2, and found the right shoe to be too short. I have always bought similar shoes from L.L. Bean without any problems! I thought that these shoes would stretch a bit but they didn't. Rather than return them, I donated them to charity and ordered the identical shoe in size 11. They fit perfectly! It appears that the Trail Model 4 shoes are actually a half size shorter than identified!

This hiking shoe has been perfect for me. I like to take long walks. Lately I've been experiencing discomfort in one arch. I have orthotics. So I bought them 1/2 size bigger. Discomfort has greatly improved switching from sneakers to these shoes. I highly recommend them.

These shoes were just what I needed. They fit right out of the box and were comfortable without any break in. I need shoes to use to take my 3 year old Belgian Malinois for walks and we go over dirt roads, steep hills and we go rain or shine. These shoes performed in any conditions and kept my feet dry as well. Great job LL Bean as always.

These are excellant light weight hiking shoes with great traction and padding. So comfortable I wear them for everyday use, walking around town and give plenty of support for hiking elevation trails. I tried the waterproof version and they were not as flexible or comfortable as these.

I was looking for a pair of waterproof hiking shoes, since I already had two pairs of hiking boots. These shoes are great! Finding a size 14 is not easy, but not only did LL Bean have the correct size, they were on sale! Fit well and are very comfortable with no break-in necessary; just put them on and go. Thanks!

Hiked the loop trail at Tumble Down in these. Got muddy, wet, climbed rocks for hours and they held strong and dry. Great grip and tread. Didn't have one blister after the 5 hour hike. Just a wee bit narrow but true to size other than that.

I wanted a comfortable shoe for light hiking. Ended up exchanging the first pair for my first "wide" shoes -- I guess these are made on a narrower last than other shoes I have -- but am glad I did. These feel cozy to wear all day and yet provide great support. I'll probably order a pair of the high tops too.

Very similar to my last pair of a previous design..Seem to have more room in the "toe-box for my wide feet. Have not as yet been tested for their waterproofing, but I'm confident they will do the job. New and interesting design of the laces which have some degree of elasticity which seems to keep them tied. Very comfortable casual hiker!
