This has been my go to walking shoe for at least 5 years and they are still my favorite except for one issue (New Balance take notice). The quality of the shoe is not as good as it used to be. I am replacing them more often because the lining in the heel wears through very quickly. I've been extending use by putting over the counter heels pads in the shoe where the lining is gone but if I can find a shoe that feels as good as this one and doesn't wear out so fast, I'll be switching my favorite. I have a pair that I wear to garden that is at least four years old and the lining is still intact in that pair so I'm not sure what changed with the materials used to construct the shoe but I wish New Balance would go back to using whatever materials they used in previous versions.

I got this shoe because I have morton's neuroma in my right foot, which results in toe pain. I need a wide toe box and sufficient cushioning in the ball of the foot. This shoe works great. It was a difficult decision between these and Brooks, but these ultimately won out because of the toe room.

The width was good. And it was true to size but overall the shoes did not feel comfortable.

Bought these for my daughter who wears a 6.5 2E. They fit so well with the wider toe base. The color is greasy since most extra wide shoes are pretty boring. Transaction was easy and shipping was fast. Will buy again from Zappos!

I really like these shoes, but they were a little to big. I'm ordering a half size smaller and they hopefully they should fit.

Too narrow through the mid-section (arch) of my foot. Not wide enough.

Love these shoes. The first pair that I can wear that I do not have pain.

For me, the V5 is not as comfortable as the V4. The length and width was good in my usual 9.5 2E, but the bottom just feels harder and thinner. I can’t do a lot of cushioning, but the bottom of my feet hurt a little in these.

I love the fit and feel of New Balance. My feet are wide and thick and it is difficult to find comfortable shoes. New Balance never fails

In the past I purchased size 11 B 840v4 and loved them. They were perfect. Last summerI I bought The New Balance 840v5 in my normal size 11 B. They were too tight on my toes. I even ordered the wide size in 11 and still my toes were cramped. So in February, after discovering 840v5 were offered in 11 1/2 B, I ordered them. They are comfortable, maybe a hint longer than my 840v4. But they feel good and I love the looks of them. I walk at least 30 miles a week. These shoes cushion my steps with support. They are not squishy like HOKA.

Finally! I've found a replacement for my old favorite New Balance shoes that are so old that I can't read what style they are. I've tried so many over the years but none of them fit right. Most were too narrow and had no room in the toe box. I have wide feet and need a solid base for support, but hate heavy clunky shoes. I love the colors. I have worn them every day since I got them! I have never spent $140 on a pair of shoes, but the comfort is worth it!
