Really wanted the version 4, but no longer made. I didn't like the feel of v 5 and the tongue is huge!

When I put on 840v4 the very first time, they felt perfect, comfortable, already worn in. Unfortunately they aren't available in Canada now. I ordered the v5, and it has a much larger, wider toe box, and less comfortable insoles, although they look the same. I put an insole from my v4s into a new shoe and it is much softer, but there is something about the whole shoe that feels different, not quite as comfortable. Both shoes have an 8mm drop, which I need. I ordered these shoes online due to covid and store problems, and have accepted them but have had to put Dr. Scholl's foam pads under the insoles for a more cushiony feel.

This is an excellent walking shoe. Great for people who are on their feet all day. This is NOT an excellent shoe to run in. My running dropped 63% the first week I wore these. They are heavy and clunky. My feet hurt with every stride. All I could think about during my run was how much my feet hurt. I literally dreaded running after buying these. This, imo, is the worst running shoe, ever.

This is the walking shoe that fits my foot. I would get 10 pair. Kidding, kind of. But I'm on my third pair. I'm sorry this version is discontinued although they still can be found for now. I normally wear a seven, but in this shoe I'm a 7 1/2.

I teach group fitness and I use these shoes for many different types of studio classes including strength , Cardio, and Dance. They are also excellent running shoes for the treadmill and outside. I enjoy New Balance shoes because they always can accommodate the fact that I need a wider toe box area in my fitness shoes! I highly recommend them!!

This shoe is very cushy as well as supportive for walking exercise. The laces are simply too short and needed to be replaced.

Bought this 840 shoe for my 87-year-old mom who's very mobile and active. Picked the 840 because her regular shoe (940) wasn't available. She's always worn New Balance, which her podiatrist recommends, and the New Balance "Wide" width fits her foot well. The 840 started out as a comfortable shoe for her, hower the patterns on the bottom of the shoe quickly started to "grab" and catch on the floor as she walked. She had frequent stumbles because of this, and eventually took a fall when they grabbed on her carept. She's a little bruised but ok. She stopped wearing them immediately. Upon comparison to her 940's, the tread pattern on the 840's are "rectangular" in shape, and are deeper with sharp edges. The tread on her 940's are more of a rounded shape with curved (not sharp) edges. She's never stumbled and fallen in the many years she's been wearing the 940 (she gets new ones annually). We have since returned the 840's and ordered her a new pair of 940s, which is back-ordered by a couple of months.

Sturdy, great fit. Excellent support for walking-love them.

These sneakers are amazing. I have been diagnosed with neuropathy and per my DR he recommended these to me and I love them. Wish I has two pair.

The color is an odd grey blue. Does not look like the photo but it was the only one with my size. And they are overpriced for sure.

The shoes ate great, the only thing is I order my size and they feel big, but they are comfortable.
