Living with a bunion and hammer toe can create issues finding shoes that fit comfortably. Per other reviews, I decided to try these and I am not disappointed. They're comfortable with ample support. I'm glad I ordered two pairs, because I will be wearing these daily!

First time I tried a 2E, but it fit beautifully.

I Purchased these as a replacement for the 1540 which fell apart on me completely after just three months. They are a softer feel and seem a bit wider in the toebox, but are very comfortable. And I think they will last longer as the fabric seems stronger. I use custom orthotics in my shoes so the amount of support isn’t that important. I agree with another reviewer that they look kind of clunky but that doesn’t bother me as they are very comfortable.

Placed new 840 shoes next to older and the difference is obvious- the new shoes are much too small, so I wish to return, as neither you or any other retailer has the 12.5 size. Off to buy Brooks from a local retailer. Don’t understand the quality control at New Balance- about tired attempting to buy the brand.

Held the new shoes next to my old 840 and the differential is obvious to the eye and when I tried them on my toes hit the toe cap.

Consistently a good, stable shoe for me. Works well with orthotics.

Everything about this shoe is perfect for me.I have worn many styles of the New Balance brand all of them have been a good fit for me.

Most NB shoes I have bought have not been what I really needed. These 840’s are perfect for my wide feet.

Wide toe box, plenty of room for my orthotics. Very comfortable all day wear as a teacher.

I had a previous version of the same shoe, most comfortable shoes I ever had. The new ones have half the padding in the collar, are stiff, don’t fit the same, hurt my feet, the quality has gone downhill, arches don’t feel like they’re in the same place. Unfortunately, I wore them outside so can’t return them but won’t be buying again.

Shoes fit well but I had to change out the inner soul on left shoe because of my hammer toe. It's a little thicker than my 940 NB and my toe was rubbing the top of shoe. Can't seem to get the 940's so I ordered the 840's and they are comfortable. They are not as supportive as the NB 940's so my foot still overpronates. I wish Zappos would re-supply the 940's in 8 1/2 W or at least let me know that they are discontinued.

There seemed to be something wrong with the insole of the right shoe. It leaned inward. Always buy New Balance - so I think it was just a bad pair.

I’ve always worn NBs and these have provided room at top foot for less pressure and pain. I have custom orthotics as well. Style-wise a few extra color combos Ike white would be nice.

These didn’t work for me - the tongue is really tall and although you can get it well secured so that it doesn’t slip off to the side, it looks weird and bulky. I also found the toe box to have too much room, especially height, which is maybe the first time ever having that problem as someone with wide feet and large, full length orthotics. They seem nicely cushioned and the light color is attractive.

These shoes cut into the sides of my feet. They were not comfortable.

These shoes fit my extra wide feet perfectly! The gray is very bright - almost white. I was looking for the darker gray that I have in 840 v4. I hope NB will offer the 840 v5 in a darker gray, soon. :)

Love this shoe. It's my second pair and worth every penny. My first lasted so long and still looked great, but I word out the sole. Comfortable, great support, stylish, fits perfectly.

I have been wearing the 840 for years and have always been happy. The V5 fits differently, it slips off of my heel.

The heel of the shoe was higher than the ball of the foot causing too much pressure on the front of the foot making it uncomfortable! Must return. Also, for an extra wide, it should have been wider, but was not wide enough instead!

Disappointed that I will have to return them. I tried various types of socks but they all bunched up under my toes and hurt my toes.

I love these sneakers! They're very comfortable and very supportive. I wear fill foot orthotics, so I went up half a size.

Great shoe. One heel was sewn bad and is irritating. Disappointed with the fact that nobody answers an email on replacing this item.

definitely for the runner. I bought for extra cushion and for walking and running shoes typically have been the best bet. Toe box too big. Returned
