I was trying to replace NB 840-4. This newer model is not as wide. Will return shoes.

The 840v5 style looks a little different (with stitching and such) and so seems to present with a more rounded toe vs. a more elongated toe line. It may or may not actually be different, but I like the look and style of it. I am glad to be able to order the same size each time and know it will fit exactly like the pair before. Thank you for a great product and easy shipping and return options.

Just okay but a bit tight enough to not be comfortable

An improvement over the 410 model I had been wearing but no longer available. Very well fitting arch support. Not enamored with the too stretchy laces so I substituted the laces from the 410.

Absolutely perfect out of the box the first day! Comfortable out of the box no break in time required. I work 12-hour shifts on my feet and good arch support is important for me and these shoes have it. Plus they look nice and are great on hospital floors for traction. Love ‘em!

Not even close to the V4These shoes had almost no cushioning. Hard as rocks for running/walking, so extremely uncomfortable. The padded collar reaches too high up on the ankle and rubs the front of the ankle. It fit in an odd manner, and I've been wearing New Balance for decades. New Balance should have foregone the V5 and stuck with the V4 which was perfect for walking/jogging/running.

Uncomfortable

I spent a lot of time choosing this shoe and it turned out not to have the support I was looking for. Also, the left shoe feels loose in the toe box and lacing tighter just created gaps on top. Truly disappointed! Returning.

These are the weirdest shoes. They are very thick around the top part that is next to your ankles on both sides. They are so thick that it hurts my ankles to wear them. I don’t know why they need to be this thick. The last pair of New Balance shoes I bought are no longer available. They were called Fresh Foam. They did not have the big, thick part around the ankle.

The sneaker is perfect. Roomy for toes without squishing your foot width. Best sneaker that is super comfortable and does not squish your toes.

Size was ½ size larger than I usually take in New Balance. They are comfortable and orthotic friendly. Interested to see if the shoe laces will hold up.

I originally ordered these in an 11… because that’s the size, I always wear in sneakers. I was so disappointed because they were too big. I ordered a 10.5 and they are perfect. Well made, stylish and super comfortable. High quality and I love them!

Still better than all other shoes for me and my problem feet and ankles (chronic peroneal tendinitis/tendinosis), but they have changed these a bit, very unfortunately. Why oh why do they do that?! They are slightly wider and the cushion is a bit different, and not for the better. I feel they’re a bit firmer than the old ones. The v4 hug my feet perfectly and these don’t. Giving them a try before I start the search for the perfect shoe again, now that they no longer make the perfect 840v4. It’s a sad, sad day. I use Superfeet Berry inserts with the v4, and even with those, the v5 isn’t quite up to par. Please please please go back to the v4, New Balance!
