Reviewing size 9.5 WIDE, Torin 5. I have been wearing Altra Torins since my first pair of Torin 1.5s, and have worn 3.5's and 4.5's. Every time I would get a new pair, of Torins I was disappointed because they kept getting narrower with each new Torin. My last pair of Torin 4.5s were too tight so I wore thin socks to stretch them out before I could wear the thicker Thorlo socks I prefer. This Torin 5 finally comes in WIDE and I ordered my usual 9.5 size but in wide. The color choice for wides was ONLY the GRAY/CORAL, which is really a light green and coral. I don't like the color but I bought them anyway since I had no other color choice. They ARE wide! Nice and wide! They seemed like they might be a tad long but after I wore them when riding my ElliptiGO 11R, I found out they are fine in the length and width. I will be buying more Torin 5s in WIDE, but I HOPE they come in the Dusty Pink or Coral.

Coming off a foot injury, I needed a shoe with adequate width for my toes. This shoe definitely gives enough space where my feet need it. As a physical therapist, I want my feet and my patient's feet to be able to move freely in their natural way. These shoes give your forefoot and toes that freedom. Love the pink color too! Cushioning is medium to more minimalist which is what I was looking for. Sizing is pretty true. Already looking to buy other models thanks to the space Altra offers.

I love these. I recently ordered a ton of Altra pairs and decided to keep 3 different pairs! One for running and two to alternate at work! I finally have enough room for my toes and enough support for my feet! I'm so excited about these shoes!

My feet are on the wider size so I went up 1/2 size and these fit perfectly. I need a lot of cushion due to joint issues and these do the trick.

What's good: cushion is far superior to my previous shoes (Merrells), though it can feel a little mushy. Width is perfect; my somewhat wide feet have plenty of room to spread out, and my high insteps have room to breathe too. Durability ... these guys are two months / 200 miles old and still look and feel new. What's not great: while I like the look of the redesigned tongue, it did wear a hole in each of my ankles on day one. I put a piece of foam tape over each tongue and problem solved.

Upon first look and try-on, these felt a little shorter than size 11 Torins usually do, but they are fine. The edge of the tongue will slice your ankle, so watch out if you use short socks. I fold up the tongue and use the laces to keep it down. Otherwise, same dependable Torin cushion and width.

My first pair of Altras and I am sold with the toe box! Amazing feel, room, and light ride. Great shoe!

This is my first time running in Altras, and so far so good! The Torin 5 is super cushioned (in comparison to my past shoe) and ultra lightweight. I often get blisters and hot spots on my toes the inside of my foot, I haven't had this issue so far. I'm looking forward to seeing how these hood up as the mileage increases in my runs. The only issue I've had with these is regarding the tongue. The tongue is flat and rubs against my ankle so I have to wear a higher sock (I usually wear the no show ankle socks).

I really love this pair for all miles on the road, especially for longer runs. The toe box is a bit wider than my other running shoes, but feels amazing to help with blisters and swelling that I tend to get after several miles. Definitely recommend for marathon training!

Until I purchased this shoe, I've struggled to find zero-drop runners with adequate toe space. As promised, the Torin 5 has a normal heel and broad enough toe width to allow your feet to touch the ground without being crushed on the sides. The ankle has an adequate amount of support without rubbing the ankle bone. Highly recommend. I've already recommended them to three other people.

I walk on pavement a lot. Current shoes wear out in the soles very quickly. This brand was recommended by my doctor. I have a c width. Ordered medium width-fits well. This model was recommended by altra support vs the timp model (which i tried and liked) due to the sole that is made for pavement in the torin. So far all is good. I agree with other Reviews and the tongue. I wear ankle socks and have no issues. Will update on sole pavement wear in the future. Hopefully the soles will last more than 3 months for the price of these shoes.

This is my everyday shoe, for walking around and practicing Qigong. I have several foot and ankle issues. The Torin 5 is very lightweight, wide in the ball of the foot, yet can be snugged up around the heel, and the mesh upper doesn't put any pressure anywhere. Best of all, it's squishy to walk on; no injuries hurt! It's a very comfortable shoe that you can do things in.

I see that everyone on here is complaining about the tongue and I'll admit that it did rub and blister for me during my first run as well, but it seems to have soften up over my past few runs and doesn't bother me anymore. I love the fit! It feels snug in all the right places but still has the wide toe box. The cushioning is great, but also not so tall and thick that you feel like you're tripping over it. The bottoms are surprisingly grippy. I love everything about these shoes!

I love this shoe.. I know there have been some complaints about the tongue, but it didn't bother me at all, I've run in them several times in heat and rain. It's the comfort I'm used to with the Torin, I even preferred this version to the 4.5s.

I have loved Torin for years, and this latest update is fantastic. They are comfortable and a great shoe for those looking to transition to Altra as well as those who have been wearing Altra for years.

I've never worn Altra's before and I am now forever a customer!! I usually wear narrower shoes but the wide toe box was something I didn't even know I was missing. Also, I felt like I was running on clouds. I highly recommend this to everyone!

After a foot surgery and struggling to find a shoe that doesn't give me blisters on long runs, I have finally found the perfect shoe! I can't tell you how happy I am with this shoe. I've already bought a second pair. The toe box width is spot on with the right amount of cushion for longer runs. I still love my Escalante racers, but when going more than 5 miles, this shoe will be with me every time!

I tried these on while I was wearing my 4.5's, so had immediate comparison. The same size felt just a *tiny* bit short, but noticeably narrow through the toe box, which ruined my favorite thing about Altras. This could have been because the upper had stretched on my old shoes, but I don't remember ever feeling that in the 4.5's; they were perfect out of the box. So I bumped up a half size and they instantly felt right. I've only been out for five miles on the road so far, but my initial impressions are great. It *is* a lot of cushion, so if you're used to something like the Escalante Racer it might feel a bit pillowy. However, if you are coming from previous Torin's, these are a worthy successor. I always have at least one pair for work, where the extra cushion is great for hospital floors, and for roads, where I am training for my first marathon and my "masters" legs appreciate it as I increase mileage. Bonus: orange is my favorite color!

I have Morton's neuroma and I had done some research to find a foot shaped shoe. This shoe helped my pain tremendously, but the tongue is hard plastic and cut my ankle my first day wearing. I was wearing ankle socks. I ended up putting a foam metastargila pad on it. I hope it helps.

The only negative comment is the tongue is not padded. I had to trim the tongue to keep it from jabbing my foot.

I loved the wide shoe box, but the shoe was a wee bit too flat for me. The sole needs to be a little bit thicker, and the foot drop should be lifted to a 3 or 4 on this shoe. Altra really needs to make more shoes with foot drops between 0-5. That is all I can handle, and it needs to be in original sole, not the standard. The standard size sole is much to thin. Otherwise these would have done it for me, but as it is, I had to return them.
