Bought this shoe for indoor training with an option for occasional outdoor running. Haven't run in them yet but love them the indoor training I've done. I have wide feet and it's a good fit. Love'em.

I bought these for CrossFit. They have plenty of support for running but still give good feedback when lifting. I wear toe spacers for foot health and balance and these have room to wear those. Only complaint is outsole started peeling off after 5 months of wear (doing CrossFit 4-5 times a week). Other than that it's a good shoe.

I wear them everywhere, work in the office and workout.. the only reason I gave 4 stars is because I have to buy cur rex, an arch support, to get the benefits of the shoe in the gym and at work.. I love the roomy toe box.. especially in the gym!

Great room in the toe box. I normally run a very wide shoe and my options are limited to ASICS 1000 or 2000 series. After doing some research for shoes with a minimal drop and trying to find options that could help strengthen my feet, I thought I would give this option a try. The upper cage is supportive, the sleek design is eye catching and it’s lightweight.

Pretty great every day shoes. The inside sole is pretty flat, so if that's an issue you might need to get some inserts. Otherwise they fit great!
The tags on the tongues got ripped out through daily wear (9 months and counting), and I glued the sole back on as I do a lot of pivoting on concrete.

I loved everything about these shoes, except the soles were too soft for me to run in. They looked great and fit my feet really well. I loved the balance feel and width. However, coming from a minimalist running shoe they felt like memory foam sponges - very energy consuming to run in. A firmer, thinner, and more responsive sole would make it a perfect shoe for me.

Understand this. As long as there is a new solstice shoe I will will own a pair. Maybe tone it a little with plastic cage support stuff. This years was a little too much in my opinion. But still best shoe ever.

Altra, why did you add this strip across the top of the toe box????? The original, with a full mesh upper, was perfect! Those little strips across the top, and then the larger one towards the front of the shoe do nothing but interfere with toe motion during exercise, and deform the toe box when walking. The rest of the shoe feels great... the tow box strips are a constant reminder that there is something there that doesn't belong. Please go back to the full mess upper on the toes, leave the rest of the shoe alone.... and go ALL BLACK!!!!! Whats up with this white sole trend... its stupid.

Overall, this shoe feels great, fits well, and is very versatile for the gym space. I like the low stack height and the zero drop qualities very much. This shoe seems to be durable so far. The best thing about this shoe is the wide toe back. I can't go back to narrow toed shoes after trying these.
The bad part about these shoes is they lack color choices. It's either all white or simple black design. This is the main reason why I wouldn't buy another pair. I want some options like the rest of the fleet have. I would buy multiple pairs there were more creative color options.

I mainly use it for working out at the gym or functional fitness type of workouts. I don't run distance in them. After less than three months, there is already tearing on both upper metatarsals

I've worn the HIITs for years for all things in the gym so when they finally blew out I had to at least give these a shot. Ultimately they didn't stack up to the old design. The foot shape was a little tighter than the older models, the lacing was a little off in how high up the shoe they run and the tongue of the show was too long. The biggest disappointment was the loss of stability in the heel, I loved the heel in the HIITs and how they mimicked the lone peaks in how they feather out to provide a more steady base when squatting or deadlifting. I'm loyal to altra but hope the next design stacks up to the old HIITs.

Good looking shoe but is too narrow through the mid foot. Toe box is not as wide as expected. Also lacking on edge support.

I use the Solstice XT for my F45 workouts. I love everything about the show feel wise (wide toe box, zero drop, low profile) but like many of the other reviewers I too am having issues with the quality. Fabric on the tongue tearing away, I have had to Gorilla glue both soles in multiple places, and the show continuously keeps coming untied during my workouts. I am now researching an alternative show and in process of determining whether to give these a second chance. Unfortunately, it appears I am not the only one experiencing these issue.

On my third pair of Soltice XT's. By and large I like the shoe. The large toe box, lightweight and the minimalist profile. However, I'm most frustrated with two things;
1. Shoelaces almost always come untied. I own MANY other pairs Altra in different styles and don't have the same problem.
2. The sole starts to fall apart rather quickly. I have had to glue parts of my soles back into place with every pair. One of my three pair started falling apart around the instep by the ball of my foot.. Frustrating.

So disappointed in my purchase. I buy Altra for the wide toe box and they just aren't the same. I could go on and on about the issues but I don't believe Altra will go back to the what they were. My next pair will probably come from Xero.

I have worn the Solstice XT2's for over three years. On the last two pairs, the bottom of the sole started separating from the rest of the shoe after only about three months of doing WODs, strength training, and CrossFit. Mind you, this was all on turf, not outside. While the shoes are perfect for my feet (love the wide toe box) I will be searching for a replacement that will not fail me in three months. Look elsewear if you you want better quality craftsmanship. I did reach out to Altra and they were not able to help with this issue and seems common - sole separation. C'mon Altra - do better.

Great shoe for the gym and weight lifting. Roomy toe box and zero heal provides stable footing. I have had no issues with materials, shoes are in great condition after nearly a year of use.

I workout in these shoes 5-6 times a week for strength training and the adhesive keeping the bottom of the shoe together has loosened and part of the tread is peeling up in many places. I have had these for about four months and they are falling apart. I used some nail glue to keep it together and that has worked ok so far.

Great Fit, Good feel. Design flaw long term. the mesh material between the harder plastic tears and ripes with time and gets worse the more you wear

I really liked these shoes when I got them, they fit my foot shape great. I walk my dog 2 miles a day in asphalt roads, after 120 miles/ 2 months of walking and some daily wear in the weekends, the tread had worn down. After 200 miles the upper tore by the left big toe.
I would love to see a more durable walking shoe, that could handle daily walking for more than 2 months. I've had at least 5 pair of Altra shoes prior to this and they all made it past the 6 month mark.
These shoes are nice and airy on hot days. It's almost like you're not wearing a shoe.

I love my original XTs(and numerous styles of Altra running shoes). I had to return the XT 2 almost immediately. Unfortunately, Altra is going away from the natural shaped toe box that people loved. It's getting harder and harder to find Altras that fit now. I might as well be buying Hokas. Sad.

I'm a scientist, so per my comment earlier about the amount of dirt, soil, particles, stone and other cr*p that the Solstice shoe leaves behind: I'm a scientist and Six Sigma Master Black Belt, and in my professional opinion, Altra should have performed an *FMEA* (Failure Modes Effects Analysis), which is a quality tool NASA used for the space program asking, "What can do wrong with this specific design?" Well, Altra, here is some *hard data*: is some photographic data of about *1/3* of the amount of dirt, particles, grass, mud, and little stones that just *one* shoe left behind in my kitchen today from a 30 min walk outside with the cats. I'm literally having to clean my floor 2-3X/day when I wear these shoes outside. FMEA, Altra, you should be doing an FMEA on your shoe designs.

I love the look and feel of the shoe. I am a Physical Therapist and wear them in clinic only. The bottom of the shoe is coming off after 4-6 months of wearing. Durability is low on wear time
