The sole of the first pair I received fell apart in a week worth of use. Exchanged. Second pair soles went out in 2 uses. Will return these.

Bought these as gym shoes, used them daily for the gym , did not run outdoor or on trails, and the bottom sole adhesive started coming apart after 2 weeks

Long time Altra consumer. Really liked these shoes after first workout. Then after second workout the sole is coming off. Had them less than a week.

After about 2 to 3 months, ONLY USING TWICE A WEEK, the sole on one of the sneakers has torn off. This is unacceptable to me. This is the second pair I have bought but will not buy any more. Reached to customer service and they apparently need a laundry list of information to help. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops.

I was really looking forward to wearing this shoe, but the design of the shoe is a disappointment. The length and width of this shoe is perfectly fine, but the height of the shoe is only good for someone with a flat foot. When wearing the shoe, the top of my foot is exposed on both sides of the tongue resulting in my foot making contact directly with the laces. There is simply not enough fabric to the tongue to cover the foot of someone who has a high instep. I imagine that this shoe design would also give issues to those who need to wear an orthotic or an aftermarket insole.

I've owned these shoes for about 2 months and the sole is already coming off the bottom of the shoe. These shoes are my daily work shoes but I sit most of the day so I'm not sure why it's already peeling off.

The show fits well but is made out of cheap components. I wore these 3 times before the sole started detaching. I've gone through a bottle of gorilla glue keeping them together. Do not recommend.

I'm an Altra fan and I really wanted to love these shoes. Love how they feel and look. So I was incredibly disappointed when the sole started coming off the shoe after wearing them for only 3 days.

Fantastic shoe. The fit and firmness are great. But the sole is already peeling off and I have only worn then for 8 weeks, and only to the gym (not general walking around, so very few miles).

6 pairs in. I keep thinking it's something I'm doing wrong. Nope they just don't last. Break down soo fast.
Nice shoe. I hope quality and durability get better but not looking hopeful.

Quality of altra shoes needs a major upgrade. My sole started to fall apart after just a couple of weeks.

This is my daily shoe and is very comfortable. The shoe is terrible quality, the sole was starting to peel off a little over a month in, and the mesh is wearing on the sides. Very unhappy with it.

I've had two hair of these shoes so far and both pair have had the sole of the heel start to peel off within 2-3 weeks. Until they are fixed, I can't see myself buying Altra shoes again.

Tongue tag fell off after 2 weeks, stitching frayed along the hole for your foot after 3 weeks. Heel cup is worn in after 1 time walking the dog. Not sure what happened to Altra but this is unaccepted for $130 pair of shoes. Contacted the company with pictures and receipt and they will not honor warranty. Claimed normal wear and tear. I've walked about 4 miles in these shoes. Would not recommend buying from company at this time as they seem to be going through quality control issues or using cheaper materials and charging more to us as consumers.

Sole started to peel away after light wearing. Altra would not warranty the shoe. Disappointed because the shoe fit well.

First off, I love these shoes and it makes me sad to have to give them 1 star. In so many ways they are exactly what I want in a cross-trainer. They've got the anatomical toe-box, zero drop, they have pretty good lateral support, the sole is thick enough for running on a hard surface like concrete but thin enough to be responsive for a wide range of cross-training workouts. Plus I like the look of the shoe and how light they are. This would be a 5-star review if not for one thing, after only about a month of use the out-sole is already starting to peel off from the mid-sole. When doing plank work I noticed that my right toe was slipping drastically sometimes and I later realized it was because the out-sole is already peeling off from the mid-sole up by the right big-toe (see picture). This is really frustrating because these shoes are pretty much perfect otherwise, but there's no way a shoe at this price should be breaking after a month. So unfortunately I have to give this a 1-star review. I love other Altra shoes and will continue to buy them but this one with it's different out-sole design is not worth it. For what it's worth, I think another out-sole design like the foot-pod for example, which has less corners like this where the out-sole can start to get peeled off will work better but it's hard to say. I really hope that Altra can fix this aspect of the Solstice in future iterations.

I own the first Solstice XT(TM) iteration and I love it.
One of the reasons I like Altra is the "natural", actual foot-shaped toe box and the zero drop. Not so much for environmentally friendly nor fair-trade characteristics, I must mention. I also bought lone peaks RSM.
With this pair, the whole fact that there's now a scale from "Original" to "Standard" to "Slim" foot-shape is a teller that there's either an admin change, new marketing approach or they're forgetting why they got people's attention in the first place and moving away from their roots. If their business strategy is differentiation, it seems they're losing it. That's bad for them, for you, as it is for me.
I actually cannot believe they would make narrower shoes that are inherently not foot-shaped. With this pair I was skeptical at first, and that was confirmed very early. They say to buy a size up if it's too narrow but no, that affects the space/size everywhere, tried them first. That shouldn't be a thing. Why is that? (rhetorical:more "normal"=broader target customers). On another note, I dislike the cushioning so much. It's not like it's really going to protect against anything, it just makes the shoe a ton less breathable, why? They're not supposed to be waterproof... It also uses a ton of glue for those structural additions; unlike the Solstice XT(TM), which would make those more durable and have a lot less breaking points. In this design, it seems durability is a lacking factor, and for the price it's quite unacceptable, we should be getting a premium product. Cheap labor and high margins, I guess. The color scheme is also weird in the black, I thought it would grow on me, but alas. Unfortunately I'd use those for work and black means it's a lot harder to get visibly dirty, the white sole and the grey is just very far from ideal, especially the white sole like... that's the thing that gets the dirtiest the quickest.
Overall not a buy, pass, perhaps the next iteration, that one's a miss. Hopefully they don't continue in that direction and become abother "Merrell".

This shoe ruined everything I loved about the original solstice. The tongue isn't wide enough. It's also thick. The toe box is narrower. The vertical space also feels too small. It's unfortunate that they no longer make a true minimal runner. I also own Escalates and Lone Peaks. This shoe is sub par compared to those as well.

I used these for a group exercise class. The toe peeled off after two classes. I went to do a burpee and my toe just went out from under me and so did the piece of rubber on the bottom of the shoe. It was happening on both shoes. Avoid these shoes. Expensive and poorly constructed.

I just received. Initial quality out-of-box is very poor. I can see where they used too much glue, the plastic trim on the shows is already coming loose around the bottom of the tongue. They are very comfortable, but already falling apart before I even put them on. I hope they improve their manufacturing quality so I can buy another pair in the future.

Terrible cushioning! Great show and feels great and lightweight but there is NO cushioning. Feels like you are walking barefoot.
