This shoe would get five stars after one week. But it fell apart quickly. Four weeks of casual gym wear and the inside blew out and the bottom tread fell off. Sad.

I love the low stack height, zero drop, foot shape toe box, I have bought 2 pairs of these shoes and the soles are just not cutting it. Both times I have had to glue the black part of the soles back on and unfortunately I have to do research in another shoe brand that has everything I love about this shoe with just one solid rubber sole.

I have worn the Solstice XT2's for over three years. On the last two pairs, the bottom of the sole started separating from the rest of the shoe after only about three months of doing WODs, strength training, and CrossFit. Mind you, this was all on turf, not outside. While the shoes are perfect for my feet (love the wide toe box) I will be searching for a replacement that will not fail me in three months. Look elsewear if you you want better quality craftsmanship. I did reach out to Altra and they were not able to help with this issue and seems common - sole separation. C'mon Altra - do better.

I do not usually write reviews but am today. To start off, Altra's are super comfortable but every pair I have bought over the past couple of years start to come apart quickly. I have owned two pairs of Escalante's and the only issue I have had with both is separation of the tread. I just super glued it and carried on.
As for the Solstice shoes, I have been wearing them since December (Christmas present) and the fabric started to shred apart in early March. I was just going to let it go and stop buying Altra's but before I vote with my dollar y'all should know the issues with the products put out.
To pay $130+ for shoes that are so cheaply constructed is insane. Y'all are more than welcome to spend your money here but you'd be better off spending it somewhere else. I am going back to No Bull.
I would have given the shoes a lower rating but comfort is the only reason they aren't a one.

I've had these for about 2 months now.

I love how they feel and they look great. But it's not quite as durable as I'd like. Bit of a disappointment.

The sole feels almost exactly like what I want out of a cross training shoe, however I have very wide feet and this shoe is just too narrow for me. I have other Altra shoes that have been nothing but excellent. It would be awesome if these were wide enough for me

I'm a scientist, so per my comment earlier about the amount of dirt, soil, particles, stone and other cr*p that the Solstice shoe leaves behind: I'm a scientist and Six Sigma Master Black Belt, and in my professional opinion, Altra should have performed an *FMEA* (Failure Modes Effects Analysis), which is a quality tool NASA used for the space program asking, "What can do wrong with this specific design?" Well, Altra, here is some *hard data*: is some photographic data of about *1/3* of the amount of dirt, particles, grass, mud, and little stones that just *one* shoe left behind in my kitchen today from a 30 min walk outside with the cats. I'm literally having to clean my floor 2-3X/day when I wear these shoes outside. FMEA, Altra, you should be doing an FMEA on your shoe designs.

Great shoe but the material simply didn't last. The tred on the sole began to separate at multiple points just 3 weeks into wearing them. I didn't expect much from a running shoe company, but dang!

I'll never buy this paticular model Altra, ever again. The tread pattern is very fine, but just large enogh to pick up all sorts of cr*p outside, and then track it into your house and leave it all over your floors. It leaves LOTs of small bits of dirt, soil, tiny rocks and cr*p all over your floors in your house. And because the tread pattern is so fine, all this cr*p doesn't come off the shoe all at once, but over the course of the day while you're walking around your house. I am CONSTANTLY having to vacuum up all these small bits of dirt, soil, cr*p that these shoes leave behind, and I have to say it is absolutely EXASPERATING. What were you thinking, Altra? Good lord.

Bottom of soles came off. I had to buy super glue and put back together. Disappointing. They really need to redesign the sole into a solid one piece instead of what it is.

I love the original Solstice and was excited about the XT 2. Unfortunately after the 3rd indoor training use, the sole ripped on both shoes. I returned them. I wouldn't wear any other shoe since Altra makes great shoes, so I'll probably just wait until they fix the issue, then buy them again.

The original Solstice was THE most comfortable shoe ever. Once they changed it, it was night and day. So much less comfortable, cheap feeling, loose on my feet. I bought every original I could find.

I experience forefoot pain, so the no-drop design is perfect for me. I have had seven pairs of Altras, but only a few models are available in the original foot-shape width - too bad.

I have purchased these shoes twice. The first pair lasted about a year and a half. They were great - perfect for my needs and my wider forefoot. The second pair I purchased are already falling apart after 4 months of wear. Not sure what changed. I am using these XT 2's for the same workouts but now the bottom layer of the sole is coming apart from the rest of the bottom of the shoe. I am highly dissapointed that the new pair did not last. I guess I will have to search for another comparable shoe that is designed to last longer. What has changed with the design?

I went through FOUR (4) pairs! Lasting: 20 days, 10 days, 2 days, and the last pair 12 days. In all cases, I've had to return them because their soles fall apart & detach from the shoe. HORRIBLE!

I have grown to love Altra's for the fit. Unfortunately, this is the second pair of Solstice XT 2's I have purchased and am less than thrilled with their durability. These shoes fit great, but both pairs have fallen apart very quickly. The black rubber sole starts to pull off after only a few wearings. I only wear these to walk prior to my workouts and in the gym so they shouldn't break down so fast. I thought the first pair this happened to was a fluke so I kept glueing the sole back with shoe glue. This last pair started to pull apart almost instantly. I wish I could return them after wearing them. If these were more durable they would be my go to shoe, but now I will be looking for other options as these are a little too expensive to cycle through them as fast as I am.

I'm a trainer and was hoping this shoes would perform accordingly. Unfortunately it does not. The soles are essentially wedges, the upper is basically falling apart . Unfortunately not worth the price.

Pros: Perfect balance in cushioning and stability to easily transition from weightlifting movements to a run
Cons: quality lacking with tread peeling within a month; toe guard discomfort > protection

I bought my shoes July 21, 2023 and returned them today September 9, 2023. It only took a month and a half for them to start falling apart. I absolutely loved these shoes. The looked great and felt great on my feet. The left inside sidewalk started splitting and the bottom of the shoe came unglued in multiple places and flapped around as I walked. They really only had about 3 weeks of any serious wear. I've had similar issues on prior shoes, but not close to this severe and this quickly. In the past I used shoe goo to fix the sole, but I'm done doing Altra's job for them. For what I paid I should be able to get a decent shoe that makes it more than a month and a half before they start falling apart. I considered exchanging, but I could bring myself to do it. I can't trust these shoes anymore.

I ordered the 9.5 in the Altra Solstice XT 2 they were too long. Could have gone with a 8.5. And they were very wide. I have a narrow foot with a low profile. These did not work for me. In comparison I have the Altra Rivera 3 in a 9.5 and they fit perfect.

I loved the shoes for a few weeks, after that they rapidly started falling apart, because of that I really can't recommend them especially if you plan on putting them through the paces at the gym.

Liked the look of the shoes and always but a low toe to heal rise running shoe. These just didn't have the same cushion I'm used from the escalante. I'll stick with that running shoe. Just wish they had all black or black and gray
