I purchased these shoes less than two months ago and the glue that holds the sole to the toe is starting to fail already. The old HIIT XT lasted many years without any issues but these aren't holding up.

I have not used these shoes very much and the sole is already coming unglued. I hope Altra can improve the quality because these are the most comfortable and best-fitting gym shoes I have ever owned.

Loved these shoes but the construction on the top of the toe just shreds. Absolute shame because Altra doesn't make anything even close to resembling them with better construction. I wouldn't waste your money unless you're willing to burn it.

This is the second pair of these shoes that I have purchased. While they really feel good on my feed they tend to fall apart quickly. As someone who is a heavier (250lbs) Maybe that's the problem. The rubber soles peel off, fold and get caught on the gym floor. Although I like them a lot they don't hold up well.

I have 6 pairs of the first generation of the Solstice and love them. This version the sole had flapped on the inside sole under the big toe 2 weeks into having them. The top and top and the tounge stitching also separated in about 2 months. The new women's versions are holding up great. My company has recommended these shoes to dozens of people because the quality was always great. Not only mine but some of my members are having the same issues with the men's versions only. They do however fit fantastic just poorly manufactured.

Good comfortable shoe but had issues with a collapsed back tab and don't feel they are durable enough for everyday use. Warranty review of claim in process but underwhelming and feel there are better alternatives as this wasn't up to the quality of prior altar shoes I've owned.

I was looking for a cross functional trainer that would actually allow you to cross train effectively, from HIIT runs to functional lifts to plyometrics. Given most cross trainers are not zero drop, I decided to give these a try.
The shoe itself isn't bad, it's a simple mesh upper with a stitched on plastic strip as the lacing eyelets with some plastic down the medial/ lateral sides. Nothing fancy but that's where I believe they went wrong with the design.
Rather than appeal with only aesthetics (because more simple does look cleaner and nice), they should've focused on the key aspects of cross training a bit more; better midfoot foot lockdown, lateral stability, and heel lock down. This shoe really doesn't do any of that well. I would say the lateral stability is mediocre (for lateral skaters, etc) due to the plastic on the lateral sides but it doesn't give me much confidence in not rolling my ankle if you are training at near 100% effort. If you're getting these shoes for strength training that doesn't require a lot of movement/ fast motion, then these work fine (as do any shoe for that matter).
I love that it's zero drop, I do like the look, but that's about it. This trainer needs a lot more in order to make this my go-to. For now I'm switching back to my other shoe and hoping these can improve in the areas I mentioned above.

Nice training sneaker but narrows/shortens much too fast on outside of sneaker and squishes outside 3 toes. Love Altra and the concept for there footwear but will have to look for a trainer elsewhere with a wider toe box.

The toe box is more durable than the original XT but the sole feels too hard causing my feet to hurt for days each time I wear. Very different feel. Would not recommend if you liked previous

Best shoe ever and biggest disappointment.
Unlike Lone peak or Escalante 2.5 my heel is not locked and is slipping out.
Otherwise would have been perfect. Have to return.

I have had the original Solstice running shoes for years now and was hoping the new XTs would be same fit but more durable. I was super excited to receive this as a christmas gift but upon putting them one I quickly realized they are not remotely the same fit. The toe box is super narrow compared to the originals and does not let the foot move naturally. My foot was super cramped inside and so uncomfortable that I didn't even want to try an easy treadmill run or a light workout in them. If you want plenty of room for your forefoot to spread and move, do not choose these shoes.

I found this shoe to be much narrower than other Altra models of the same size, though the length seemed almost right.

I loved these shoes initially, but they disintegrated within two months. Altra customer support advised that this was normal wear and did not assist me.

Just put these on. They are far too narrow compared to all the other Altras I've owned since 2016.

Too narrow in the midfoot. Uncomfortable. Does not fit like other Altra shoes. Disappointing.

I have been a loyal Altra shoe customer for over 6 years and have bought several over the years. This shoe was very disappointing in quality with the bottom rubber peeling off after short use.

I had to fight with customer service to get them to honor the warranty originally after this shoe failed, they finally sent me another pair, after about 5 uses in the gym the shoe has failed again.

Blisters instantly and shoe is falling apart after 100 miles of usage. Do not buy this shoe.

Both my wife and I love Altras for running, hiking, all of the above. I decided to try these shoes out as regular every day ones because they fit great and look even better. Maybe two weeks into having them, the stitching on the tongue label unraveled and it just flaps away, and shortly after that, the black part of the sole started separating from the shoe, just like several other reviews mentioned. These are NOT up to the same standards of the other shoes, and as much as it pains me to shift away from Altra, I will not be buying them again. Very disappointed. These shoes sullied the Altra name. I do not recommend buying these.

Used just for daily activities and in the gym. Already falling apart. Feel cheap and flimsy. Materials and fabric are terrible. The tounge is the worst part was losing stitching immediately. Love Altra but avoid these!

I only used my Solstice XT2 shoes for light / casual walking over the last year. I wanted some nice comfortable shoes to wear get groceries, run errands, etc. and liked how these looked. Sadly, these shoes are already falling apart. The outsole became unglued and much of the fabric on the upper is pulling apart from the lacing area.
I wear other my Altra shoes more regularly, for longer time, and aggressively, for hiking and running, and they are all intact.
I want to warn people from buying this particular shoe, since these are way more flawed than any other shoe I've purchased from Altra. Get a pair like Lone Peaks, Superiors, Escalantes -- anything else but these.

So disappointed in my purchase. I buy Altra for the wide toe box and they just aren't the same. I could go on and on about the issues but I don't believe Altra will go back to the what they were. My next pair will probably come from Xero.

Shoe delivered on March 28th 2024, shoe failed after about 10 trips the gym on April 26th. Customer service has been unresponsive. It's fine they failed if customer service was responsive and made it right.
I have been a fan of my Lone Peak 6's and just replaced them with Lone Peak 8s. I'll probably have to start looking at other brands.
Also, apparently ad blockers prevent you from filling out this form.

I love my original XTs(and numerous styles of Altra running shoes). I had to return the XT 2 almost immediately. Unfortunately, Altra is going away from the natural shaped toe box that people loved. It's getting harder and harder to find Altras that fit now. I might as well be buying Hokas. Sad.
