first....I am a hoka fan for life! But, because I have bunions I buy "wide" shoes with no binding seam on material over bunion area. Clifton 7 feels better on the bunions than clifton 8 with a little bit more room in the box.
Personally I would like to see a recovery slipon model built on the clifton 7 model. One can dream after all!

I love the HOKA's they are so light and provide excellent support. This pair Zappos suggested I get a 10.5, I knew better but went with their suggestion. I had to return that one for a 10 size. Now I have to send it back and get yet another pair at 9.5! I don't know if it is the width or length, they felt like clown shoes. Thank goodness Zappos is great about exchanges.

The arch on the left shoe is higher than the right shoe. It wasn't till I took the inserts out of the shoes that I found 2 inserts stuck together in the left shoe. I feel that the left shoe still doesn't fit my foot as the right shoe does.

I like the shoes although I'm a bit too old to be considered a runner. They are comfortable and In my opinion very attractive. The sizing was a bit of a problem since there is no 14.5; the 14 was too small and the 15 is a bit too large, but for walking and everyday wear they are fine.

Nice price for a nice pair of shoes. My only disappointment was I orderd the Wide version, and they are pretty narrow really. I will continue to run in them, but likely won't purchase this version again.

I have the black Clifton 8 but when I ordered in a different color, the toebox was very large. I sent them back with much regret.

The overall fit and size are spot on, but the heel support fell short. My heel kept on dropping into the bottom of the shoe, which in turn the arch support was not supporting.

Overall, these shoes are as expected, and other reviews are pretty spot on. They have great arch support for high arches like mine, and felt true to size. I tried a 10, but the arch supports didn't hit quite right. They are a hair bigger than my Brooks 10 1/2 (my usual size), so go with whatever your current shoe is. Uppers are well made and there is plenty of cushion. These are my first HOKAs, so we will see how they wear! So far so good!

Don't get me wrong. This is my fourth pair of Clinton's. Had the 3's, 5's, 7's and 8's. Returned the 4's because they felt like running on pieces of wood. I need cushioning and can get about 300 miles on most daily trainers, because I'm older (55) and have a lot of wear and tear on my knees. The Clinton's can get me over 350 before retiring. I log about 160 miles/month, running 5-6 days a week. These are great for daily runs, any distance, where I'm just logging miles at easier paces. Good cushioning that allow my knees a break. I say they are boring because these are my "slow" shoes. Not much return to them and the cushioning is very one dimensional. But they serve a purpose and I will continue to keep them in my rotation for those easy runs of any distance (5-20 miles).

I usually run in New Balance shoes, most recently 1080 v11's, and the Hoka Clifton 8's fit is comparable. The only difference is in the toe box, which hugs the big toe and leaves more space toward the little toe. The Clifton has a lot of cushioning, a lot more than the 1080v11's. It is spread out around the foot a lot better than most shoes. I usually beat my forefoot up on shorter runs and the Clifton 8 padding in the toe area has seriously impressed me.
I was worried that these shoes would be slow, and after a few weeks of running in them, that is halfway accurate. With every foot strike, you feel your foot sink into the padding a little bit and then spring back up. It's hard to lose that much kinetic energy and push the pace at the same time. Also, that energy has to go somewhere and by mile 3 my feet were quite toasty. The flip side of that coin is that I feel that I can click into my easy pace much faster and with the extra padding my body felt comfortable at a slightly better clip. These won't be good for speed work, but they definitely help shave a few seconds per mile off of my easy run pace.
The last thing about these shoes is the style. I went with the yellow version and the uppers look great. Unfortunately all the cushioning ends up creating the appearance of a platform sneaker. I got these for the added padding for longer runs, not to wear as fashion sneakers, so I am not too worried about the appearance of the shoe.
Overall the Hoka Clifton 8's are an excellent shoe for building base mileage and protecting your feet.

I'm not real versed on running shoes but I felt that these were excellent shoes except the foot bed just didn't fit my crazy arch for what ever reason. I loved the style and tried using a separate orthotic insole but it still didn't work for me even though I wanted it to so I'm sending them back

I had a pair of Clifton 6s that I liked pretty well. But they also had some major downsides. The outsole was way too thin, so the midsole began wearing out quickly. The upper also completely separated from the sole within a year. This pair of 8s has a much improved outsole, a nice heel tab that makes them easy to slip on, a good tongue system, and a wider toebox which I think will help lessen pressures that might have contributed to the upper separation in my 6s. The only downside is that I feel like these have less cushion than the 6s. All the same, they've helped with my plantar fasciitis, and are very comfortable for my 3-4 mile runs. So far, I'd say they're a solid 4.5 out of 5. I hope they won't fall apart within a year.

Was really looking forward to these based on all of the reviews I’ve read. It may just be my individual feet but I don’t love them. The arch support hits my arch in a really strange way that is very uncomfortable and I find the soles too squishy for my taste. I wish I had tried them on at the store first. Maybe I’ll get used to them but I’m not optimistic. Quality looks excellent and they are good looking. M

Im 56 years old and an X- College football player with knee issues. I have recently been getting out to run. Not one of my favorite things based on past knee injuries. My Hoka's have changed my view on running and fitness. Started wlak running and now I'm up to over 8 miles of constant running. I could not have done it without Hoka's hlep.

Great shoe, love the monochrome colorways and the wide sizing. Really comfortable. After 6 months of using this as a walking shoe it's lost most of it's grip and has holes in the upper. Got some good use out of them, but wish they were a more durable for the price point. Other brands shoes usually last me at least a year in terms of the sole and upper.

This is my first pair of HOKAs. Primarily purchased to help me deal with ongoing plantar fasciitis. Normally use a low profile minimalist shoe, but needed more padding and these were recommended by my doctor. About a month in, they are comfortable and seem to be of quality construction. Will purchase more HOKA products in the future.
