I bought these for my daughter, but I tried them on for size because if they fit me, they will fit her. We have narrow feet. I found the size 6 narrow to be the perfect length and width. The insole is padded and comfortable. My only gripe is the leather is stiff at the front ankle and dug into my leg. The tongue is sewn as part of the leather upper, so I think that contributes to the problem with the new leather. I still want a pair for myself. I am hopeful that with some wear, the upper will be as comfortable as the bottom.

The limited edition boots are beautifully made, and the colors (plum and black) are stunning. I ordered down a size (from 8 1/2 to 8), as recommended. The length and width were fine, but the tongue and ankle support were stiff and bothersome. They may soften in time, but I chose to return the boots and may order a limited edition available in late summer in the 6 inch height, with a padded tongue.

I ordered the blue/black 8" pair of these boots and they are really cute. The tongue of the shoe is attached to the sides (eyelets), all one piece. That makes it tricky to get the boot on your foot because it just doesn't open widely enough. I struggled to get the boots on my feet and then they were too snug. I wish they came in half sizes. The second problem I had was what to do with that tongue of the boot once it was on my feet. It was hard to push the tongue down and put the laces through the boot - there was just too much material there for it to lie flat. If you buy they, order up, as Beans suggests. They are very well-made and well-priced for the quality. These boots are so cute, I will try the taller ones in size 10.

Initially the purchase was not a good experience. BUT they are a Great quality boot. I would recommend either buying your regular size show OR purchasing these boots in person so you can try them on. My daughter has a narrow arch and could hardly get her foot through the opening with the size recommendation made by the site. We had to exchange in person for the next size up and went with an insulated version of the same boot (really the best recommendation for upstate ny seasons).

These stained my jeans the first time I wore them - brown color rubbed off. I also didn't think they were as comfortable as I was expecting, but I think they'll be great in snowy weather. Hopefully they'll be more comfortable after more breaking in time.

My 14 year old daughter was so excited to order a pair of "Bean Boots" They were at the top of her Christmas list and her great, great Aunt was very happy to be able to buy her something that she really wanted. The boots arrived and they are awesome, she loves them but the wait time to get them was long. It took a month and a half for them to come in since they were on back order. That is really the only complaint. She loves the boots, they look great on, wonderful quality, thumbs up!

I generally wear a Women's size 7.5 shoe, and occasionally need to order my shoes a half size up or down. This is my third try and I have found the right fit! The size 6 hit my arch in an uncomfortable spot and felt a little tight with my Smartwool and hand knit socks. The size 7, medium width felt more comfortable, but felt too roomy and I felt like they made my feet look gigantic. The size 7 narrow, felt just right. Snug enough in the toe box to make me comfortable hiking in these without slipping inside the shoe, the arch support hits in the right spot, and they make my feet look like normal feet and not like I am wearing clown shoes. I just got them yesterday, so I didn't give them five stars since I haven't worn them outside or tested them while camping.

I bought these back in November before they went on back order, and I really like them. When paired with fuzzy socks, they keep my feet warm and dry during cold rainy days. My only complaint is that the place where the rubber meets the leather sits at an awkward place on my leg. It always rubs against my ankle and can sometimes hurt.

These have had to grow on me, I have wanted a pair for years...the only negative is the tongue design which makes it very hard to take on and off. I am sure the design was to add to the waterproofing but it is not comfortable to slip your boot on and off especially with a wool sock.

I was super excited to receive a pair of these boots, and so obviously when I got the chance to wear them, I did! However within less than a week of wearing them (normal wearing... I have only worn the boots out and about. I haven't done a lot in them) the leather on the front of the shoe, rubbed away and started to create little spots of discoloration where the leather had come off. Like I said, I have only had these for less than a week. This is happening on both of the shoes. The white stitching is also coming unraveled, and I am afraid that soon enough there won't be any white stitching on the boots at all. I have also tried contacting customer service and have had no luck getting through.

These are so in right now! I have had my eye on these boots for several years, and they always sell out (or are backordered) by the time I decide to purchase. I finally decided THIS IS THE YEAR. I bought myself a month-early-birthday present in November: Bean Boots in Tan/Navy! I wear size 11 Women's shoes, and ordered the L.L.Bean Merino Wool Ragg Sock, 10" Stripe 2-Pack in size Large to wear with the boots. My boots are a little too big (size 11), even with a pair of the Ragg Socks. Wearing 2 pairs of socks with boots in Seattle is a bit silly (lots of rain, not much snow). It seems that a 10 might be too small - and I didn't want to wait until January for what would be a backordered replacement pair. Instead, I opted to find different insoles. UGG insoles in size 11 Women's fit perfectly, replacing the thinner insoles that the boots came with. The additional thickness fills in the 1/2 size I was missing & warmth from the sheepskin is really nice as well.

I owned a pair of these boots back when I was a kid and (obviously) outgrew them, but always found them comfortable. I finally decided to order a pair this past fall and I was not disappointed. I'm a 9 1/2 and originally ordered an 8, couldn't get the boot on so I contacted LLBean and reordered a 9, which shipped quickly. While the 9 fit perfectly, I find it a bit difficult to get the boot on now that the tongues of the boot are sewn to the boot. After a few wears its easier, but usually only works with thinner socks as compared to thicker socks. Otherwise, they're very comfortable and keep my feet warm and dry walking across my college campus!

I found that if I wore thick socks it was hard to get my foot into the boot. If I wore thinner slick socks, I could slide right in. I use these boots at the stable on muddy rainy days. I wish that some kind of finish on the inside of the top of the boot would make it slicker so I can wear my heavier socks to keep out the cold. THat's the only reason I gave these boots 4 stars instead of 5. Once my foot is in the boot it fits fine. It's just a pain in the patooties to get my feet in with my heavy socks as the friction is almost insurmountable. FYI

First, the boots definitely live up to their reputation for quality. They are exactly what I needed for rain & slush. However, they are difficult to get on & off due to their sizing. It seems like the bottom is proportionately larger than the top leather shaft, so when sizing down, it makes the boots fit around the foot, but too small to easily put on. They are definitely something to put on and wear the whole day, not a good choice if you take shoes off/on frequently. Also, I really wish the laces were a few inches longer so that when I open them up as far as needed to put on, the laces don't slip out of the holes.

These boots are terrific. I love wearing them. They are comfy with the removable insole and the sole isn't slippery on wet surfaces. They do take time to get the leather broke in. These run large. I normally wear 9 in running shoes and I ordered 8 in these boots and they are big.

I'm finally getting on board with the classic 8" LLBean duck boots. I've never really understood the hype, but I needed a new pair of casual boots that will get me through the Fall/Winter before I break out the heavy duty insulated pair I save for extreme conditions. First, I have to say that I am normally a 8.5-9 regular width in Brooks running shoes. Most of my every day footwear are 8.5's. Because of this, I ended up ordering 3 pair to try on. The first being an 8 regular. While I liked the boots, they felt a bit too big even with my LLBean camp socks on. So, I then ordered the 7 regular and 7 wide. I figured if I went smaller, I'd still need room in the toe box when sizing down. While I've never felt my feet are "wide" per se, I do not like cramped toes. Well, I have to say the 7 regular fits best. I'm able to wear my thick camp socks comfortably. If I were to wear thin socks, I'd want to size down again, but I bet a 6 would be too small. Since these are not the insulated version, I always plan on wearing thicker socks anyway, so the 7R is best. The quality of the boots are great. A nice, thick leather upper with tacky rubber bottoms in the classic tan/navy are cute paired with tall socks and jeans or leggings. They are warmer than I thought, but I haven't tested them below 30F for an extended period yet. A good pair of socks is key, and to be honest, the LLBean camp socks are not the ideal sock. They're too rough and not warm enough. I have not yet tested the boots in snow above 1" or in extremely wet conditions, but they were fine on a rainy day. I'm happy with the purchase so far.

Recently bought my Bean Boots to prepare for a Boston winter and I am loving these shoes. I also needed a rainboot but this covers it too! Even when there isn't inclement weather, I'm tempted to wear these boots simply for the fit, comfort and look! Getting the shoe on and off can be difficult, I've found, even if you have the right size shoe for your foot. Also, it takes a few days to break them in (but what shoe doesn't?). Overall, I'd highly recommend these boots! We will see if the 8" holds up in the snow!

I went with the recommendations on sizing an ordered a size down (I am normally a size 8 and got a size 7), so I can wear them with thinker socks in the winter time. They feel great with a thicker sock. They seem like the need a break in period since they're a little stiff, but otherwise a good fit and comfortable. They aren't too bulky looking and look cute with leggings or jeans! I am also very pleased with the customer service I received on the order!

I was very excited to receive my boots, and in a reasonable amount of time. However, I choose the wrong length. They will be return. I ordered the 6" last night.

I LOVE my new boots. Nice and lightweight, and good feel on the ground going through the woods. I normally wear a size 9, ordered a size 8 and they are still a bit roomy with thick wool socks, feel too large with thin socks. The craftmanship of the boots was average (leather cutting not even all the way around where the leather meets the rubber), but I don't mind that much on a utility boot like these. The leather itself is nice, and the boots still look new after four hikes and two upland hunts.

I have wanted Bean Boots for so long because I have heard so many good things about them and I was so happy when they finally arrived a couple days ago in the mail. The shipping was a day early, which is always a nice surprise. I was a little worried about the sizing and fit because I hate returning things so this was going to be either a hit or miss. I'm usually a size 7/7.5 and after reading millions of reviews, I ordered a size 7M. I'm happy to report that they were only slightly big, but I'm hoping they'll fit better once I break them in. Like many other customers, the only problem I had with my boots were that since the tongues were sewn into the sides, they would not stay flat no matter what I tried. It's not that big of a problem, just a little annoying at first, and I don't mind it enough to return them. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase (thanks Linda!) and can't wait to start wearing them during the long New England winter!

I bought these boots in a size 8W. All of the photos of the boot did not show that the tongue of the boot is one piece with shoe string eyes on either side. The opening at the top of the boot was quite narrow to be a wide width boot. It was difficult getting the shoe on and off. The shoes are made well, but I can not wear these boots with thick socks in the winter. I will only wear these in the spring and in the fall.

The boot construction and look is great but having a high instep on my feet makes it hard to get the boots on. Otherwise the boot is a 5 star.
