I don't think I have unusual feet. I guess they're fairly typical. But I have a hell of a time getting my feet into these boots. Oddly enough, once I have them on, they're a bit roomy.

Tongue of boot doesn't lay flat.. I ordered 2 sizes a 7 1/2 and an 8 but kept the 8 which is my normal size. With thick socks still a comfortable fit.

These will be great for wet walks through dew and snow! Because I am a 1/2 size, sizing was tricky; I was uncomfortable ordering 1.5 sizes down. I only went down a 1/2 size and that worked perfect for either medium or heavyweight socks. They are lightweight and flexible once broken in. The shoestrings could be just a bit longer; I have to unstring/ re-string the first sets of eyes to put them on. The bottom treads aren't very deep, but so far no slipping or traction issues on the trials around our home. Very comfortable!

These boots are great if you have wide feet but you must order down. I normally wear a 9 or 9 1/2 but wear an 8 in these. Super comfy and perfect for rainy days.

I have always wanted bean boots. Very disappointed because they are so stiff and they hurt my feet.It will take me years to break them in.

These boots are really a 1/2 size too small (I ordered a size down as instructed). I had a terrible time getting them on, and the laces are too short so I had to leave the top holes empty. The right boot is rubbing the top of my foot (where the toes start) but with a thicker sock I don't think I could get them on at all. There is snow on the ground here so I wore them to get the mail and they were comfortable to walk in and kept my feet toasty. I imagine they will be better when they're broken in.

Recommendations through reviews were to size down. I'm a 7 1/2 with a normal to wide foot. I ordered a 7 as recommended. I thought if I ordered wide I'd be safe but the slight arch is in the wrong place and my toe hits the end of the boot. I'm going to go into the store to try different sizes on. I'm excited to own Bean boots again. This is my third pair.

Yes, the enveloped leather makes it a tad harder to get on, but that will soften up in time, making getting the boot on easier & I have a high instep. The reason for the sewn leather shaft - does not allow H2O to get in & ruin your walk, chores, day. A standard size 8.5 B the 7 was the deal. Long lasting, good Bean quality.

I wanted to love these boots. Once I was able to get them on, they fit perfectly. I ordered according to the size chart. The problem with the boots? Extremely difficult to get them on. Omgosh! The opening was too narrow, almost impossible to get my foot into the boot. And getting them off, just as bad. I returned them. As always, customer service - wonderful to deal with.

I have always wanted a pair of Bean Boots as they are so iconic and everyone swears by them. I think I got a dud.
Mine are leaking really bad ( the water gets in through the stitching on the back and the sides).
So I only wear them when it's dry out :(
Very disappointed of the quality but still love the look!

I do think people should consider trying a half or whole size smaller, these do run large. However, if you're wearing thicker socks having the extra room may feel better. I haven't had a chance to wear them that much, so I can't really speak as to whether the size 10s will be too big. So far they feel good. I don't intend to do a lot in them, I mostly purchased these boots to walk the dog in wet and snowy conditions.

I ordered both this unlined boot, the 6" unlined boot, and an 8" lined boot and returned the other two. I decided I liked the versatility of unlined- I could wear this year round and adjust the warmth with socks as needed. The 8" height seemed better able to hold up to snow and the deep puddles that can form around curbs. I usually wear a size 7 and ordered a 6 and it's still maybe a bit too big (but all the better to wear with thick socks). All in all I love this boot- it does the job. Plain and simple. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is- it comes with laces that are too short to lace it up all the way (I have mine laced to the 2nd to top holes). Seems silly to me to not include a bit longer laces. And then currently the boots rub my ankles a bit, but I imagine that will go away as I break them in.

As previous reviews mentioned, size down as they come large. Mine fits perfect with a wool sock.
Love how this shoe is durable and quality material.

Wanted these forever and finally got a pair! while they are super comfy on, getting them on is a struggle, and nearly impossible with heavy socks. I understand why the tongue is sewn to boot, but would be easier to get on if it wasnt, maybe someday a new style with seperate tongue? in meantime, I'm hoping it'll get easier as they wear in

I need a pair of winter/snow boots and because I have a pair of the mocs I really wanted these to work. Unfortunately for me they didn't. I have very high arches and very high insteps and because the boot tongue is sewn to the sides of the boot I could not get my foot into it. But that's my foot issue. Nothing wrong with the boots. I had to go to another brand where the tongue isn't sewn to the boot. BTW, my LL Bean mocs are my go to shoes in the winter even when the weather isn't bad. They are so comfortable!

I thought they would've had some type of lining. I was under the impression they all did, rather than just leather on the inside. I would've preferred a chamois lining.

Finally ordered after having wanted these boots for a really long time! Downsized 1 1/2 sizes as suggested. Initially boots were tight getting on due to leather being tight. I was concerned I might have to return them, but after several wears, they loosened up and now they are just fine. Very happy with purchase!

Got these shoes as a Christmas gift and overall great shoes. I am a 7.5 and ordered a 7, they are slightly large however still completely wearable. I split time living between western ny and nyc and they have been great for skiing, cold weather and snow as well as rainy days. Only complain is they get incredibly slippery on certain indoor surfaces. I have mainly noticed on the subways where I have almost fallen multiple times... overall great for outdoors but something to be cognisent of.

I LOVE LOVE these boots, but I have a very difficult time getting them on with socks because of the attached tongue. So much, that I haven't been wearing them. It is not quick and easy to get ready to go outside in Upstate NY, when I have to put them on. I would recommend the boots, but recommend the boots without the attached tongue.

The Bean Boot is perfect for someone who is looking for a functional shoe to wear on rainy, snowy, or muddy days. I have owned my boots all through college and use them almost daily during the messy winter months we have here in the Midwest. They have also been great for short hikes and visits to the dog park!
Functionality:
What I love most about the Bean Boot is how weather resistant they are. A bottom that is made of a thick rubber and an upper made with thick leather means 100% dry feet as you splash through puddle after puddle. These features are similar to the popular Sperry duck boot, however, there are two distinct differences that I believe make the Bean boot a better buy. The first is a higher boot height. The Bean boot is a couple inches taller, meaning it does a great job of keeping splashes and debris out of the boot and allows you to walk through deeper water. The second is a fully attached tongue. This means if your boot is fully submerged in a puddle or pile of snow no moisture will seep in and get your socks wet. Because of the height and attached tongue you do need to take the time to really loosen the laces when taking the boot on and off.
Durability:
L.L.Bean uses high quality materials when constructing these boots. The seam between the rubber bottom and leather upper is triple sewn and the laces are a thick water-resistant material. The only damage my boots have experienced in the 3.5 years I've owned them has been dog inflicted. Even after two puppy stages, the damage has been minimal and resulted in zero loss in functionality. Another aspect of durability I think is important is how easily these boots clean up. Mud and salt will wash right off the rubber and leather alike.
Comfort:
Comfort is the only area were these boots could improve. Because the bottom is thick rubber, feet tend to get sweaty with prolonged use and cold in deep snow (an insulated version of this boot does exist). Pairing the boot with thinner or thicker socks can help with either of these issues. Lastly, the boots are a bit heavy, but not as heavy as a traditional work or snow boot.
Whether I am wearing jeans or my favorite leggings, splashing through mud puddles or sleet covered sidewalks, my L.L.Bean boots are always my go-to footwear. For a boot I wear almost every day, several months out of the year, they have lasted incredibly. There are some tradeoffs comfort-wise, but for the functionality and durability you get I firmly believe this is a great product.

Sorry to report I had to return the boots because the design that eliminates a traditional tongue was not comfortable. They were so well made and quite attractive, also comfortable until they were laced up The leather across the front of the leg wouldn't lie straight and the wrinkle was uncomfortable..

The boots run a little big. I find them comfortable once they are on, but putting them on is difficult. The lasses really need to be loosened to pull them on. The loop on the back of the boot help.

Ordered these boots for my daughter. We live in the hills of Tennessee and these boots are perfect for our climate. They do not get to hot on her feet and are comfortable. I did order a size down like the site suggested and they fit perfect. The part of the boot where the leather meets the rubber at the tongue area feels a little wired but once wearing the boot for several days it begins to feel normal.

I've had these boots since I was a kid. Now my kids also wear them. We've been through many pair in the last 10 years from kids outgrowing them. The wear well, clean up easy, keep your feet dry and warm. I would and will buy them again.
