I have loved the look of these boots for years. I finally ordered them and was extremely disappointed in the fit. I guess I am one of the unusual ones. I normally wear a 6.5. The first problem was getting my foot in the boot...because the tongue is sewn in it's hard to expand the opening. Once I got my foot in my foot was swimming in the boot. I ordered the 6 because they said to order down. I brought them back and the sales associate suggested the children's size but I didn't have time to try them.

I was looking forward to my shipment all week. I ordered the red wine one and ordered a size down as they suggested. It still feels large even with medium socks...I also feel like the inside of the boot could use more padding outside is beautiful but the work on the inside could use better cushioning inside the shoe itself.
I like the aesthetics of the boot to much to go through the hassle of the return but really wish they could invest more in the interior design and sizing for it being priced at it's current price point.

I am very unsatisfied with L.L. Bean. I normally wear a size 6.5 in shoes and when I tried to pick what size bean boot I should order after reading the suggestion on the site, my size wasn't even offered to order! I do not wear thick boot socks so I would need a size 5 which is not carried. I ended up ordering a size 6 hoping that it would work because I really wanted a pair of these boots. They came and man was I wrong. These boots are VERY large on me. I tried wearing them with the thickest pair of socks I own and they still were too big. I just think if you're going to sell boots that are this large and people have to order a size and a half down, you should carry a variety of sizes! Not happy with these boots at all. And unfortunately I can't return these boots. Very very unhappy.

I have waited almost a year for these boots. I have saved up and was so so excited. When they showed up they were falling apart. :( the leather on one of the boots was glued so unevenly at the toe. It was so obvious. It was already peeling up. Several stitches towards the front were broken and there the leather part wasn't all the way sewn down. There was also a stain on the side of one of them along with more pulled stitches. Hopefully I can get a new pair. :(( I love L.L. Bean and shop frequently.

I absolutely loved the look of the purple and black boot - unfortunately the leather was so stiff it was a struggle to put on. The fit of the boot base was fine but the amount of time it took me to even get the boot on was unacceptable.
Please fix this issue- I would definitely try an improved version
I ended up returning this model.

These boots are cute, but they are very uncomfortable. The tongue of the boot is attached to the upper shaft of the boot - presumably to keep the boot waterproof. The area between the shoelaces and one's ankles is very stiff and when you tie the boots, the material bunches up making the boots extremely uncomfortable. I've only worn these boots once because of how badly they feel when they are on. Very disappointed.

I had great hopes for these boots based upon the reviews though I should have taken some of the negative reviews more seriously. I can't even get my foot in the boot wearing just a cotton sock. The problem is that the tongue is fastened to the boot all the way up. I have other boots with a similar design BUT the tongues have gussets so there is more room for the foot. I'll be returning these and looking elsewhere for a boot that fits me.

I wore these boots for the first time in the rain today and my feet were soaked. When I contacted LL Bean they said they must have been defective and offered to replace them. They then realized that they weren't available so they said I could return them but they couldn't offer me a replacement. Poor quality control. I'm not sure why these boots aren't tested for leaks before they are shipped. For this price LL Bean shouldn't rely on their customers to serve as their quality control. This is the second pair of LL Bean boots I have had to return. A pair I ordered last year were shipped with a big scratch along the side of the boot. I'm done with them!

I wanted to love these boots, and did when I saw them. However I was not able to put them on; my instep would not go into the boot! Returned them unfortunately as they look like a stylish and sturdy boot from LL,Bean.

First, I have to say that I used to LOVE these boots and my daughter still has a pair that I'll borrow. I bought my own and they've since redesigned the inside back heel piece. It used to lay flat and be stitched to the back inside of the boot creating a smooth strip. The same leather piece is folded over now and creates an irritating bulge against the back inside of your ankle. I'm so disappointed and have no idea why they'd change an otherwise tried and true design to something that seems so obviously inferior. How would a bulge NOT irritate? I'm only writing this review in the hope that enough people complain about the same redesigned feature so they go back to making them the way they used to.
