I had originally bought the original bean boot gently used and absolutely loved them! My only issue was that the lack of lining had my camp socks rubbing on my heel so I decided to take advantage of a sale and get the goretex lined. I am a street size 8/8.5 and the 7M had fit perfect in the original so I followed the size suggestion and ordered 7M in the thinsulate/goretex but they were too tight. I took them to one of the stores and traded them for 8M and am much happier. They're slightly large for me but when tied, they're super comfy and I don't even notice the extra room. I can wear them with light ankle socks or camp socks and my feet stay warm either way! I've worn them in snow and ice and my feet have stayed dry and I didn't slip at all. I wear them every time I take my dog for a walk and they're always super comfy!

I'm pretty impressed with L.L Bean...ordered these boots and delivery was promised for the 22nd but they arrived 2 days early! Just in time for my trip out to the Rockies for Christmas. Super stoked to get to wear them! I normally wear shoes anywhere between 7.5 and 8. My feet seem to have widened since having my kiddo over a year ago so I've had to move up to an 8 for most shoes. I took a gamble and bought these in an 8 medium width after reading other reviews and while there's an index finger width worth of room at the back if I wear thin dress socks, they fit perfectly when I wear my medium or heavy winter merino wool socks with room to wiggle my toes. The width is perfect too. Love them! I would guess that a 7.5 in medium width would be too tight. Can't wait to wear them in real winter conditions.

I finally decided to upgrade a really old pair of Bean boots that were handed down to me and I'm SO glad I did. I have not stopped wearing these and I'll wear them all winter long. The lining is soft and comfortable and somehow my feet manage to stay perfectly warm without overheating. It's magic. They slip on easily and I barely have to lace them up to walk comfortably in them.
I normally wear in 8.5 in most shoes, a 9 in running shoes, and I ordered these in an 8 regular width. They fit perfectly. I've only worn them with regular socks so far but I think I could fit thick wool socks as well, it would just be a bit snug

I bought these boots because I live in Cleveland and we get the slushy, gross, watery snow so I needed something that would keep my feet warm and DRY. I am 99% of the time a size 9 shoe with medium/average width. Per the sizing suggestion on the website, I ordered a size down because I figured I would not be wearing super heavy socks and I was not planning on going intense hiking in the snow or anything. Definitely too small, even with thin socks on. I called LL Bean and they immediately shipped me a new pair, size 9, even without receiving my original ones and honored the 25% that I received on my first order that was no longer being offered online. Once I got the correct size, I have worn them almost everyday! They are SO warm and are getting a little less stiff each day. My only complaint would be that if you don't wear socks, the bottoms will slip out with your foot and get messed up but wear socks and you won't have that problem! I actually like that they are removable so you could wash them if need be. Great buy, worth the money for me.

I don't know why I waited so long to get a pair of these boots for myself. I purchased several pairs for my grandchildren and after doing lots of shoveling with cold and wet feet I purchased a pair. I normally wear 8 or 8 1/2 and based on the reviews the first pair I ordered was a size 7 which was snug with regular stockings. I also had ordered the thinsulate but not with the gore-tex which I what I really wanted. I went to the store and found that I really needed the wide width (which is not what I really wear) which fits awesome with heavy socks. Love the Gore-tex. My feet now are warm and dry when I am out shoveling. Wish I had them for the beginning of this winter.

I really like these boots. My daughter had them and she was happy. She had 7W and always claims to have wide feet. I wear 7 1/2M. So I tried 7M. Twice. Too narrow. 7W works well - especially with thick socks. Even though the people in the Bean order department warned me that the W would be way wider. I am happy with my 7W's.

I had a hard time deciding which bean boot to purchase between unlined, thinsulated, gortex/thinsulated, and shearling lined. I ultimately decided to go with gortex/thinsulated and I'm glad I did. The gortex lines the entire boot, you could pull it out of the boot and it would resemble a sock. I've worn these boots on a warmer day and in the snow and they don't disappoint. I have chronically cold extremities, my toes always get painfully cold in the winter time but not in these boots! When I wore these boots on a warmer day my feet were sweating! Size wise I'm typically a size 6.5 with a regular to narrow foot. I purchased a size 6 Medium B width. When I wear thick socks they're a perfect fit, with thin socks there is a bit of wiggle room but I just tie the laces tighter and it's no problem. They are very comfortable, the only thing is the leather shaft is pretty stiff but I'm sure it will get worn down as I wear them and become more flexible. The only con is that it was a long wait to get the boots but I'd say it was worth the wait.

I have owned several bean boots and these are the best! They are super comfortable and easy to get on and off. I've had other bean boots that tend to dig into my foot in different parts, but these don't do that. These keep my feet pretty warm. In order to really get through a cold winter I need thick winter socks. I'm also considering the LL Bean sheepskin boot insert.
Sizing--These shoes do run large--I am a 9.5/10 and ordered a 9 in these shoes. I still have room to wear thick socks. I have narrow feet and these do feel a little wide, but not a huge deal. Even though they run large, they don't feel as heavy and clunky as some other bean boots.
I would definitely recommend these!

After reading the reviews, I decided to purchase the boots with gortex/thinsulate. These boots are amazing! They are comfortable and kept my feet toasty (but not sweaty). A winter must have! I just wanted to write this review to address few issues others have had with these boots.
Some people have complained that they have a hard time getting their feet into the boots because the tongue is sewn to the boot. There is a reason why LL Bean did that. When water, snow, slush or mud rises pass the rubber portion of the boot, the water, snow, slush or mud will not seep through the sides of the tongue and into the boot. It's actually a really good idea. I tested it out by standing in a puddle of slushy water for a few minutes (thanks to winter storm Stella) that went well passed my ankles, and my feet were dry as a bone. The idea could use improvement though (provide more slack for ease of putting on and taking off boot for those with larger feet). I have no issues with this because my feet are small (6-6.5, medium width).
The other issue others have complained about is the stiffness of the boot. LL Bean boots are brand new, unworn and made of leather. These types of boots do take time to break in. For me, the first two times I wore them, they were a bit uncomfortable. But after the third time, I did feel a difference. The leather started to loosen up a bit (especially the back), and it was a lot more comfortable to wear. I recommend not lacing the top part of the boots up too tight for the first couple of wears. Then tighten a little bit each time you wear them after. It helps tremendously. If you prefer not to break in a pair of boots, I recommend the tumbled leather boot. A friend of mine owns the L.L. Bean tumbled leather boots and loves them (especially since she didn't have to break them in).
I have no regrets buying these boots. They are an investment and will pay off over the years.
P.S. L.L. Bean - please bring back the flannel lined tumbled leather bean boots!! PPPLLLEEAASSSEEEEEE!!!!!!

It all started on Black Friday! There was a discount being offered that included Bean Boots so I chose to get the $139 pair which were back-ordered (I was fine with this). Upon arrival I didn't really like the bareness of the inside of the shoe and I felt like they were constructed quickly (poorly) so I got in contact and an exchange began to process. They said they would be applying the discount to the new purchase and would make note to complete a quality check. I exchanged for the $189 pair which were also back-ordered (I was still fine with this) and got in contact at least twice to make sure all would be going smoothly. They refunded me my original purchase but deducted shipping and then charged full price for the new. When this pair arrived the quality was still not as hoped. I got in contact, they refunded me the difference, said we could do an exchange with no money involved (free shipping label) and they would make another note for a severe quality check to be performed. I got in contact again right before receiving, explained the whole story, got the initial deducted shipping refunded because it wasn't supposed to be charged and managed to get a 25% (due to sale) instead of the original 20% off! The third pair was the charm! LL BEAN SUPPORT IS AWESOME and really strives for customer satisfaction, their craftsmen work incredibly hard and the boots are as durable and gorgeous as they are comfortable! Very pleased and most definitely recommend :)

True to normal size. I don't wear more than tights and one pair of socks, but don't need to as these boots are WARM. I have high arches and these boots give me the most support. I really like the traction and comfort as I walk :-).
They might be too warm to wear indoors all day, but if you can switch shoes at your job or wear for really bad weather they're worth it.
They are hard to tie on and off, so I recommend making a knot at the end of each lace so they don't pull through, or you can make those twisty knots on the end to slip the boot on and off, and just pull it to tie tighter during really bad snow.

I've never purchased expensive shoes before, but their lifetime guarantee made it worthwhile in itself! You could tell it was just previously assembled as the leather uppers took a little time to bend and mold to my feet. I followed their sizing guide (I normally wear a size 7.5, but order 7), and while I don't think I could wear multiple layers of socks without it being too snug, I was surprised that I DIDN'T HAVE TO! I live in Michigan and I've worn them since late January with only regular socks (not wool) and the *Thinsulate really kept my feet warm*!
I've only been wearing them for a month, but they are my favorite shoes -- they go with my arctic gear and snow pants, but also look cute with jeans and a jacket. **I am so happy I made this purchase** and their customer service has reminded me that no matter what, if I'm not happy, they have that LIFETIME GUARANTEE! And let me tell you, these are not going out of style anytime soon...

I normally wear an 8 1/2 shoe. Ordered the size 9 boot thinking 8 would be too small. Size 9 was too big. Had to return them.

I'm a true size 8 in all shoes and high heels; my feet are between medium and wide (although they tend to lean more on the wide side).
Since I ordered a lot of wool socks (thick socks), I ordered my boots in a size 8w (wide).
When I wear them with the thick socks they fit perfectly. When I put them on with thin socks they fit a tad bit loose but NOT so loose that they slip off; they are still comfortable! I can't imagine getting a size 7, as I believe they would have been way too tight with my thick wool socks... In general, I prefer a looser fit in all shoes, so I don't mind them being a tad loose with thin socks. If you are like me, I would recommend that you order the 8w.
As for warmth, I've never felt cold feet when I have them on. FYI, I've never worn them with anything below 10 degrees, but I'm sure that with wools socks you'd be fine.

I've had these boots for about 5 years now and they are excellent! They are made extremely well and built to last. They keep me warm and dry in all kinds of snow, rain, and the mud left behind. While they felt stiff and awkward at first, they have broken in well and are now extremely comfortable. I sized up so I can wear them with socks, but I would have been OK with a smaller size and thinner socks because they keep my feet warm enough. I like the look (and added warmth) of thick socks so am overall happy with this purchase and couldn't imagine winter in New England without them!

So, I rarely ever write reviews because I buy so many things and don't have time to write about them all. But...when there is a product that is just so...WOW...I have to share it. I have been eyeing these boots for years. I have always been too cheap to buy them. I had them on my Christmas list and was bummed to see that I didn't get them under the tree. Then, my husband comes home with a box late January and says "Merry Christmas". I see LLBean tape on the outside of the box. I was so excited! I knew exactly what was in there! I prayed that they would fit so I wouldn't have to return for the right size...I had waited so long!!! I asked for the gore-tex 8 wide and tried them on with smartwool socks. Perfect fit. My favorite brand is Clarks and I am normally an 8.5 wide. I have small bunions and the fit of the shoe didn't bother me. LLBean was right about going down to the nearest whole size. It's been raining and snowing a lot here in California so can't wait to use them. Hopefully the gore-tex will keep my feet dry and cozy for both conditions.

I love these boots! My feet are always cold, but with the gortex thinsulate liner -10 was no problem! I went to the Patriots play off game and 4 hours outside NO PROBLEM and that was with thin wool socks. Comfy to walk in too. I am usually a 7 medium and I bought a 6 per instructions and they are perfect. Buy these boots!

I bought these boots the first of November.
I wear them everyday and not just to a desk job. I deliver new Volvo Trucks to dealerships all over the Us and Canada and Fly home.
They have really taken a beating so far. A week or so ago it was -27 with the wind chill of -39 and I have pretty much been in the snow and salt every week since i bought them....... I personally love them.......On fly home days I walk a lot in airports and my feet never get tired........ Thanks LL Bean for a great Product!!!!! No wonder you have sold out every year since 2011........

I've been dreaming of Bean Boots for a long time and finally splurged on these. They were backordered and set to ship sometime in mid-January 2017 (received them about 3 weeks earlier, which was a pleasant surprise). I'm absolutely impressed with the boots I received handmade by Bob the Bootmaker in Brunswick, Maine. I usually wear a 7.5 and have a wide foot. I ordered a size 7W in the boot and the fit is just right. The toebox is roomy enough for thick wool socks. The length is just right too. The boots look well made and I look forward to adventuring in them for many years to come!

I've had my bean boots for approximately 25 years and love them! They have held up to our harsh New Hampshire winters and there is nothing wrong with them. I'm online today to purchase a new pair as my feet have changed over the years and I need a wider boot. Thank you LL Been for your quality products.

I usually wear a 10 boot but ordered the 9. This is an excellent boot! It took about a week to break in but well worth the wait. Recently, I was at work working outside (loading and unloading trucks) in rain, sleet, and hail which is unusual for southern Idaho. My boots were wonderful! My feet did not get cold or wet all day. I do recommend mid-weight socks, my wool socks made the boots to tight. Thank you LLBean! Now I know why sister loves your company so much.
