I wear a size 9. Ordered a size 9 not realizing that you're supposed to order up a size. Exchanged for a 10, felt good in the store but actually wearing them out they are by far way to big. I can't return them now bc I wore them, just disappointed since these were every expensive and there isnt any half sizes.

I have had these boots for three years, and they have been great.... until one boot fell apart out of the blue. The stitching came apart and the bottom rubber part basically is falling off of my right boot. LL Bean customer service said to send them for "inspection"... shipping not paid and repairs cost $50 minimum. At these rate, easier to buy a new pair and not LL Bean. Very disappointed. Was counting on having these boots last for years and year.

The extremely poor quality leather was a big surprise. I've worn this classic bean boot style for over 25 years, and I won't be buying another. Super disappointing

I've been an L.L. Bean customer for over a decade, my go-to place for any outdoor sportswear. I'm really disappointed. The left boot is great, and I like that my feet feel warm and will stay dry in inclement weather. Enough room for heavier socks if I want. The right boot has a terrible, embarrassingly loud squeak anytime I walk or even move my foot. I've adjusted the laces, adjusted the tongue, and taken them off several times to try and resolve it. I've been wearing them and given it a few days, and it has not improved. I am going to exchange them, and hopefully the next pair will not have this problem. I'm disappointed, because I was looking forward to getting these boots, as they were top-of-the-line and rather expensive. I've waited for them to arrive for several weeks, and now it'll take a few more weeks for the return and exchange.

The boots I received were completely poor quality boots. Firstly, the color listed on the website reads "tan/brown" which is the same color combination listed on multiple Bean Boots. I had previously ordered these boots, as well as the Bean Boot lined lounger. The color quality and lack of a "buttery" texture left this pair of boots looking very VERY unattractive and terribly made. I have been repeatedly been dissatisfied and disappointed with Bean Boots over lack of consistency and transparency in the past several years. Hopefully this company will rebound and begin to invest in quality materials again.

There were unignorable scratches, creases and even tiny dents on the boots. The Gore-Tex label was also not attached (my other pair was shearling-lined and the "Wool" label was tied to the boots). Either these were a shelf/returned pair or I just happened to receive a pair with faulty leather. Will return them but now I have to pay the returning shipping fees which I find unfair... Some other aspects: (1) Fit: I normally wear 8/8.5 sneakers and the 8D boots fit well (a bit large in length, which will allow for thicker socks and perfect in terms of width). My guess is that the size 7 boots (suggested by the guide) will be too small even with light socks. (2) Colour: The colour is duller than that of the online photos. (3) Laces look cool and sturdy (more so than the shearling-lined boots). I only briefly tried on the boots indoor without the laces, but Gore-Tex + Thinsulate already felt really warm. Should be a great pair of boots function-wise.
Disappointed,

These are pricey boots and I've always wanted a pair. I finally ordered them and was very disappointed with the comfort level. The leather used for the top part is very stiff and it dug into the flesh on my calf/shin with every step. Back they went!

I was very excited to receive these boots as a christmas gift. When They finally arrived on January 5th, I tried them on, and they were definitely not wide. They were lovely boots for a person with very narrow feet, but not wide. It felt like the leather part was possibly slightly wide, but the sole was regular sized. So, there was only rubber sole beneath part of my squished feet. The whole middle and back end of my feet were floating over nothing.
Lovely boots. Not actually wide.

I wish I had read the reviews before I ordered - this is my first time ordering boots from LLBean and I've had nothing but good experiences on other merchandise. I've since read reviews that indicate that there is a serious sizing issue with these boots. I was wearing tights when they arrived so I slipped them on and found that the boots were tight, especially in the toe area. There's no way I could wear even a light sock with these, and I ordered my true size, didn't size down as Bean recommends. This was pretty pricey for me, so I will return them and not replace.

I had been dreaming of replacing my very comfortable but not so stylish boots with LLBean "duck" boots. Took the plunge. Totally disappointed. It started with the laces. Stiff. There's nothing wrong with my fingers and it was painful to pull them tight and finally tie them. I could look past that. Then, I noticed the gapping around my ankles. With heavier socks and pants tucked problem could be helped. Overlooked a 2nd issue. However, after walking in my dream boots, the stiff leather had been gouging into my shins leaving a deep indent on each. Ouch! I certainly couldn't overlook that problem. Sadly, these stiff and uncomfortable boots are going to be returned.

Never owned a Bean boot and wasn't sure what to expect when purchasing. It was a very poor experience. The sales associate, Mary, was unhelpful. I explained to her that I had never owned a Bean boot and that I was looking for a boot that would keep my feet warm and dry during the coldest months. I ended up purchasing this boot in a 9 as the 8 was too tight and there were no other options in the store. Strange, as I was in the original Freeport Maine location. Ultimately, I realized I purchased the wrong size. They are very bulky and uncomfortable. I live out of state so it is inconvenient to return and am disappointed with paying $200 for something that doesn't work. Lesson learned. Know more than the associates when purchasing new items

Sorry but the shaft is really tight. I can't even get my feet into them at all to see if they're really as good as people say. They're going back right now :-(

The boots seemed to be of outstanding quality, but I could not get my foot into them. So they have been returned. I think it's because of the tongue being connected to the sides of the boot. I wear 6 1/2 wide. Perhaps someone with a medium or narrow foot would do just fine.
I was really looking forward to a high quality warm GoreTex boot. Not accustomed to being disappointed by LLBean

I owed a pair of Bean boots for over 20 years, so I thought it might be time for a new pair. These are not the Bean boots I was used to. The tongue of the boot used to be separate from the shoe, for ease of putting your foot in and out of the boot. I could not even get my foot into the boot. It was too much of a struggle to try to fit my foot into the boot. Not exactly comfort I was looking for. No thanks on the new boot. I'll stick with my old pair that has weathered the years very well.

The boots were too narrow and very stiff. The leather portion above the foot was very stiff and cut into the ankle.

I have a pair of uninsulated Bean boots that I just love. I ordered these because the thinsulate Bean boots without Gore-Tex were backordered for 3 months. The fit was good, but the lining was was very stiff, somewhat scratchy, and just didn't feel good. There was a bulky roll by the tongue where the lining attached to the leather that made them uncomfortable to walk in.

I am a bird watcher who participates in two annual Christmas Bird Counts, a May Count, goes on field trips and bird walks, shovels snow -- and have no waterproof boots, and narrow feet. I've always admired Bean's boots and w/ the CBCs coming up, decided it was time to have warm and dry feet, so ordered these women's narrow Goretex and Thinsulate-lined leather-top boots. I found the leather too stiff to be able to lace up, but worse, the inside lining in the toe area was all bunched up on the top. If I had been able to comfortably lace them up, which I couldn't, there would be no way that lumpy material wouldn't have resulted in blisters across the top of sore toes - enough, I believe that would have prevented me from continuing a count. This surprised me. I will return them to Bean to see if they are all like this. It is even more disappointing, because they are a great resource for narrow shoes and boots and I have no doubt the quality otherwise would have been great.

These boots seem well enough made but very poorly designed.
Disregarding the suggestions that I order one or one and a half sizes smaller than I normally wear I only ordered a half size smaller. The size was obviously not an issue but the boot opening was so tight that I could not get my foot into the boot. I had ordered this size to accommodate heavy wool socks but even with thin dress socks I still could not get my foot past the boot opening. Was this a manufacturing fault or a design fault? Don't know, but the boots were sent back unused. (sadly)

I read the reviews and was expecting boots to get me through the rest of the snowiest winter I can remember in New Jersey. The arch hit me in the wrong place and the stiffness of the upper was very uncomfortable on my leg. I returned them.

I have a short wide foot and generally have difficulty purchasing boots. I found these and was quite excited so I didn't mind that they were backordered. I ordered according to the instructions provided and was so disapointed when I opened my new boots. My foot would not fit in the opening of my boot. No matter what I tried-it would not even go half way in. I'm not sure what happened, but this was definitely not what I expected. The boot was good quality but does no good when you can't get it on! Be very mindful when ordering!

I was very disappointed in this product. I expect a certain level of quality from LL Bean and did not get it here. I ordered a wide width boot and got a boot that had a narrow neck so that I couldn't get my "wide" foot into it. I don't know who designed the boot or created the pattern it was made by, but it wasn't someone with a wide foot who would have known to make the neck wider too.
