I bought these boots to keep my feet warm & dry throughout our son's football season. They are fantastic! The weekend of the big CO floods (September 2013) our son's team was playing in Denver, in the pouring rain. By the time they finally called the game I was standing in an inch of water and hadn't even noticed! My feet stayed warm and completely dry. They've been great for tromping through the high wet grass on the practice field as well. Love these boots!

These are amazing. I walk to work and these have been fantastic. I am typically an 8.5 but ordered a 7 to be safe. They were a little tight a first but have loosened up perfectly. I would recommend them to anyone. I know I will have these for a very long time. Best boots to buy.

I tried on so many snow boots in so many different brands. They were all either unsupportive, huge on my feet or incredibly unattractive. Then I ordered these and fell in love. They are very comfortable and well made and perfectly fit my preppy style. They are perfect for cold weather with tall wool socks and skinny jeans. The insulation is great and keeps my feet warm and dry, but not too warm. I still wear them comfortably in the rain when it is 60. The shoelaces aren't quite long enough to lace all the holes but I prefer them laced about halfway anyway. Was unsure about sizing. I am a true 8 and got the 7 and found I can still wear pretty thick socks with them comfortably. You won't regret buying these!

I followed the fitting instructions, and suggest doing the same since the sizing is a bit different then normal. These boots feel like I've worn them for the last 10 years.. extremely comfortable, and cute to say the least, plus very warm and durable. Work well for any type of outdoor work: hunting, hiking, shoveling, etc. all while keeping my feet warm and dry. You name it and the boots will stand up to the challenge!

I love these boots. I had been wanting them for a while & I recently took the plunge and bought them (just in time for a week straight of snow!). They are great for wearing in snow/slush/rain/ice. The warm lining made them perfect for bitter midwest winter days. Some of the reviews suggested getting a size up if lined, which I did but the boots are large on me. I generally wear them with thicker socks but you don't need to since they are lined, I just do it since my are big on me. I would definitely suggest them if you need great winter boots- especially since they last forever-my mom has a 15 year old pair she still wears!

These are, hands down, my favorite pair of winter boots. The gortex lining is fantastic, my feet stay warm (even on long walks in the snow and when it takes me an hour to dig out my car.) Based on other reviewers, I ordered my standard size (8) since I wanted to be able to wear thick socks. Terrible idea - they were enormous. If I stood on my tiptoes, my heel would almost slide all the way out. I strongly recommend ordering a size down (for me, a size 7). Even with huge wool socks, and the gortex lining, they have some wiggle room. I did a quick return on the phone, they were extremely friendly and helpful. And the new shoes were on my door step the NEXT day. As an aside, I have since learned that the "fashionable" way to wear these is to leave the top two holes unlaced. Just in case you came to the L.L. Bean review site to learn how the kids are wearing things these days!

Excited about these new boots! My daughter has recommended these "duck" boots to me- I finally broke down and ordered them. Glad I got gortex/thinsulate and ordered half size down- very comfortable and warm - will probably need another pair someday! Thanks for a great boot- LL Bean!

Everyone in my family has a similar style of these boots, and I finally decided to get my own. I have another pair of the LLBean low boots but wanted a pair I could wear when there was more snow. I love these as they keep my feet warm and dry. It was a hard decision to choose between the 8" and 10" but the 8" is perfect for me. Coming back and fourth from outside to inside is super easy as these boots don't make my feet sweat after being indoors for the day, and they are great in the snow and mud. I can even wear them at work and they are nice to cover up with my jeans if I don't want them showing as much. LOVE THEM! You need to buy them :-)

I work outside in the Northeast at a zoo and in the winter there is nothing worse than cold, wet feet. My LL Bean boots have solved both of those problems and I will never wear anything else. Thanks LLBean!!

The boots fit true to your shoe size. I have wanted a pair for a long time and they are perfect for Washington States cool rainy weather. Thank you for a American Made Product.

I had purchased these (in the gumshoe form) for myself, wanting a replacement for the older version of the storm-chaser clog (now not available in the WIDE width). It took a return to get the right size, even after reading everything. Well, these are the ones I got for my spouse--and we had the same trouble! Except that whereas I had finally to order 10's to fit my 11.5's, she ended up getting 8's to fit her 8.5's (after I figured 7's would be the way to go). Go figure. In any event, once we got the correct size, they were/are ideal!

This season I finally decided to take the plunge and order a pair of proper winter boots that could handle the cold and wet weather in Minnesota & Wisconsin. I considered a pair of Sorels, since I've been wearing those since I was little, but I love the fact that Bean boots are still made in Maine and was attracted to the history they have. Not to mention, I wanted a boot that was less bulky than Sorels - something that didn't make walking difficult (so I could wear them on my daily walk/sprint to and from the bus, drive stick, etc.) but would still keep my feet warm & dry. I was nervous about ordering these online since there were so many differing reviews regarding the sizing. I normally wear around an 8-8.5, with a somewhat narrow foot, and eventually I ordered a size 8 medium width. It fits me PERFECTLY - just enough room for medium to heavy weight wool socks. What surprised me most about the boots was how comfortable they were right out of the box. I could walk for miles in them! I've had them for a few months now, and am extremely satsified with them. They keep my feet warm & dry 98% of the time - sometimes the moisture from my feet make the tips of my toes cold, which isn't anything new for me, but I think getting a quality sock liner to go with my wool socks would solve that problem. Overall, highly recommended.

Make sure you read the sizing info before ordering. I ordered an 8 wide and it fits perfectly. I usually wear 8 1/2 to 9. I still would not be able to wear bulky socks. I have 3 pairs of Bean boots in various heights and I love them all. Great quality and definitely worth the price. These are great for winter's sloppy weather. Great for shoveling and snow blowing. It would be nice if the laces were about 2 inches longer.

This is only my second pair purchased over 25 years. The reason I bought them was my other boots, which were so well worn in, got lost. I had to go up one size from my regular size as they did run a bit small. They are great boots

I absolutely love these boots!! I have a pair of rain shoes that I bought from here about 15 years ago and love them. I told my husband that I was thinking about buying the boots and he bought them for me for Christmas!! I normally wear a 7 1/2 to 8 and he ordered a 7. Wasn't sure they were going to fit, but they are perfect! At first I thought they would be too tight to wear, but once I put them on with regular socks and wore them around the house I realized it was a perfect fit. My feet also stayed toasty warm!! We've had nothing but wet weather since Christmas so I have already got a lot of use out of them. I would definitely recommend these boots.

Serious boots for serious fun. I normallly wear a size 8 wide-ish shoe and ordered a 7 wide boot. These are perfect for what I was looking for -- warm, waterproof boots I can wear with a regular sock.

I bought a pair about 10 years ago - a practical gift to myself. I love them with the ever-changing Midwestern weather! My feet are always warm and dry. Lately, my teenage daughter has been asking to borrow the boots often and gets tons of compliments when she wears them. So....with college around the corner and the thought of her walking across campus in cold and/or wet conditions, I purchased a pair of her own for her for Christmas. Comparing the old and new boots the only difference is that the leather on mine is softer and "broken in". They have held up beautifully and I am sure will easily last another decade and beyond. They are not inexpensive, but they are a great value!

I have pondered these boots for a long time but balked at the price -- I plunged ahead during a 10% off offer. After reading reviews, I purchased a size smaller than I normally wear [in "wide"]. They fit good with a mid-weight sock; are comfy. Yay! I also ordered the fleece insoles; after those were inserted, I will likely only be able to wear a regular weight sock. These boots will be perfect for tromping in the Oregon wet weather; muddy walks with the dog; I expect to wear them for years and years to come.

This is my third pair of these boots in 20 years. Here in wet western Washington I wear these boots for outdoor work 9 months out of the year. They are immediately comfortable, durable, keep my feet dry in the rain, mud, snow, wet fields and woods and on the beach. The chain tread and rubber sole provide excellent traction on wet slippery decks, pavement, rocks and on ice. I can't say enough good things about these boots.

i recentlly got a gift certificate to l.l.bean & was soo excited because i've had my eye on a pair of bean boots for awhile now. i am so happy with ths pair that i got & love how they are completlly gortex lined, making them completly water proof. they are also super warm & cozy. i have already worn them on a hiking/camping trip and i have no complaints. they are great to lace up for support, but i also enjoy how i can tuck the laces into the shoe & slip them on for ease & comfort.

These boots are wonderful. I ordered them online and followed the size guidelines (normally wear 7.5-8, ordered a 7W), but found that they just barely fit with bare feet. So, slightly disappointed, I did the "quick exchange" service (and the customer service people were SO friendly and helpful!!), sent them back, and exchanged for a size 8 which were perfect. The bigger the socks, the better. I also have giant calves so I was a little concerned they'd be too tight there, but they fit just fine. I walk about 5ish miles a day on and around campus, and I'm able to wear these no problem. My feet (not to mention the legs of my pants!) are kept toasty warm and completely dry. When it rains here, it pours, and man, these boots are awesome. I should also mention--it doesn't have to be freezing to wear these comfortably, either--it was 65 here today and pouring and they felt just fine. Bring it, weather!

I bought a pair of these boots last year to be used as winter boots and rain boots throughout the year, as well as hiking boots throughout the summer months. The insulation is great - warm, but your feet won't get TOO warm, and great if you're going to be spending a lot of time outside during cold New England winters. They served their purpose well as rain boots - these are definitely waterproof, not just water resistant, like some other boots on the market. They aren't too heavy, and are very comfortable to do a lot of walking in! I would also like to commend L.L.Bean's 100% guarantee policy - I had one pair of these boots for a year, and after an extreme hiking excursion I discovered that the boots were no longer waterproof, nor did the insulation work to keep my feet warm. I was under the impression that these boots would last through years of rough use, especially after reading messages from other reviewers. Needless to say, I sent the boots to L.L.Bean and explained my situation, and they sent me back a brand new pair, no questions asked! The new boots are the same as my old ones, but of course, the insulation and waterproof features are functional again. The new boots arrived within a week of my sending in the dysfunctional ones; great service from L.L.Bean! Now I know that these boots will last me many more years of snow, rain, and ice!
