We did end up exchanging the boot for the next size up. I think it would be considered true to size but I felt if a thicker sock was needed there would be no way it would fit properly. The boot is made very nicely.

I bought these boots for my semester abroad. They're great for rain, snow, and sturdy for lots of walking!

I bought these boots as a Christmas present for myself. One of my favorite purchases of the year! They are invaluable for a college student and so so cute!!

These are my absolute favorite boots! The quality is great and the look is timeless. The shortened 6 inch hight is prefect for shorter people. I originally purchased these back in 2013 and wore them all fall/winter/spring for the past 6 years. They broke in beautifully and I love that LL Bean offers re-soling program so I don't have to keep purchasing new pairs. The only reason I had to replace mine was because my original pair was in some luggage that got stolen. Very sad to have lost them, but looking forward to having my new pair for many years to come!!

Great boots

I have absolutely loved my Bean Boots from the very first moment that I tried them on! I have worn them at least twice a week upon their arrival, and they have even walked the streets of NYC for 14 hours in one day. I highly recommend them for style, comfort, warmth, and being waterproof.

Purchased about 6 weeks ago for myself and husband, We both love them. They are very comfortable right out of the box. I have Several types of other great waterproof boots I use for snow and hiking including two pair from LL Bean, but none made in Main. These basic non-lined boots were made in Main. I plan to use mine for Fall, Winter, and early Spring. I am impressed with the looks, quality of materials, and comfort. Sometimes I wear them all day. I still need my hiking shoes/boots for backpacking. But I have used these boots for walks along rugged trails in a nearby State Park and trips to the grocery store. . I'm not sure how warm they will be in the very cold weather. I may replace an older pair of boots I have with a lined version of these boots.

Looking forward to first big snow to really try out.

I just got my first pair of Bean Boots and WOW - they're incredible! Heard mixed reviews on the leather and roominess of the boot, but they all proved to be untrue. Love these boots! I agree they run big. I'm a size 9 1/2 and I ordered a 9. Pair them with wool socks and the fit perfectly! Glad I got the 6 inch over 8 inch. Very happy overall!

Can't be beat - very comfortable and waterproof. sized slightly down and fit perfect.

I had wanted to order these boots for a couple of years and finally did! They are everything I had hoped they would be!

I have been trying to get these boots for years but they have always been out of my size. I was looking on line and again my size was out of stock but then when I checked my local store they had one pair in my size. I immediately put them on hold and sped to the store to get them. I tried them on and didn't even take them off. I wore them out the store since it was raining! I wear a 5.5, so I got the 5. It's still about a 1/2 size too big so I just wear thick socks. They were super comfy on the first day and I just wore them for 3 hours while I raked the leaves in my yard. My back was sore but my feet felt great! So happy I finally got these boots!

Just ordered another pair to replace a pair I have had for over 20 years! Had to replace the laces twice and the tread has finally worn down, but after 20 years this boot is amazing! Very warm and so comfortable. You will love them.

Nothing I like better between my feet and the snowy ground is LL Bean boots.

I normally wear a 9.5 wide, and I went ahead and ordered an 8 wide as recommended, and they fit like a dream! Even ordering a size and a half down there is plenty of room for thicker socks if it is an especially cold day, without being too big for thin socks. This has already become a favorite pair of shoes, and I plan to order some other styles!

These boots are fabulous. So well made with the finest materials. I've bought other brands of duck boots in the past. None of them come close to comparing to the quality of bean boots. They are comfortable and warm. I'm very pleased with my purchase. I will continue to purchase these boots. I'm ready for another New England winter thanks to my new bean boots !

I wear a size 10 in all shoes but the size 9 in the bean boot fits perfectly!! I have serval pairs of Llbean boots but the 6 inch boot is my favorite. It is the most comfortable in my opinion. I can wear it under my pant legs or over leggings or skinny jeans. If you are on the fence about this boot just get it!!! You will love love love it!!!

Cozy, warm, comfortable other then the laces still needing to "loosen up" a bit. Only worn about 10times. Love the classic color way

Purchased for college granddaughter and she loves them. Comfortable to walk campus and keeps feet dry.

I own 3-4 pairs of Bean boots but they are all tall (8") and in various colors and features for more serious weather. These are perfect for a subdued, everyday boot. I wear 8.5 and ordered these in 7 to wear with regular socks (my other boots are 8s). These were comfy right out of the box. I don't want to wear any other shoes this fall! They can be tough to put on but with practice you'll have no problems. They go with everything.

I wore these boots during my latest trip to London and Ireland. Not only did these very well crafted shoes keep my feet dry and warm but they are incredibly comfortable. I walked from almost sun up until sundown for a week and a half in these boots and not once did my feet hurt. I will be recommending these boots to everyone I know. I usually wear a size 9 and ordered a size 8 based on other reviews yet the boots were still big on me. I could have ordered another half size down and they would have fit perfect. The half size difference didn't bother me though.

I was surprised at how comfortable these boots were. I thought I would need to put my orthopedics in, they looked like there would not be much support. They were comfortable, warm and keep my feet dry on a very wet day.

I've owned these boots for over 25 years, and I'm only now thinking of replacing them due to cracking and crumbling of the rubber vamp. The sole and the leather shaft are still in great shape. I'm sad to let them go. I only hope that the quality of the product has remained high over the years.

I have never bought footwear from LL Bean before and bought a women's 9 since I wear a 9 wide in sneakers and 9 in the bean boots were at least a size too big even with the thick boot socks. I had to exchange for a size 8 and that worked well, so take the advice and size down. I ended up with an 8 medium width in these boots. Thankfully, my closest retail store had a pair in stock or the return would have been a huge pain.
