The L.L. Bean website says: "NOTE: Bean Boots have a unique fit. For this style, order a full size down from your regular shoe size." I followed that advice and ordered a full size down. When I sought to return the boots for the next size up I was told (in January) that the item was on back order until June, and that the return fee of $6.50 would be charged to my credit card. Really unfair. I lose $6.50 for following L.L. Bean's own advice and have to wait six months for my order to be filled. Boots aren't much use in the summer.

These are not true to size and had to be returned. I bought these based on the reviews and past experience, but these were a big disappointment. I ordered a size 11 and they looks like a size 13.

Bought mine about 4 years ago, the interior seam does not lay flat and rubbed my ankles raw until I bridged the seam with duck tape. I sent them back almost two years ago for new rubber lower half.they were returned to me with the seam that continued to rub my ankles so more duck tape again. After about one year after the new bottom installed the stitching started failing on both shoes and the top and bottom are pulling apart. I would not buy this boot again.

Way too big and the tongue of the shoe is uncomfortable. I will have to send them back a second time.

I returned the first pair because they were too large even though I ordered one size down as recommended-no big deal. When the second pair arrived I opened the box to see small very noticeable cuts in the leather upper portion of one boot and there was glue oozing out of the seam of the other boot where the leather and rubber were attached. Not sure who is in charge of the quality checks but it was not what I expected from LL Bean.

This is L.L. Bean quality? I only wore these may be a dozen times if that, and the are ripping apart already. Basically they're useless to wear now. This is $84 boot? Never again. These are bean boots that everybody raves about?

Incredibly disappointed. I ordered the wrong size and needed to exchange for a smaller size, only to be told that my order was cancelled because my size was out of stock. When I checked online, my size was IN stock (men's size 10) but was told it was a different model (it's the same exact 6" Bean Boot people!) and I'd have to re-order and pay full price. All I wanted to do was exchange one size for another. I can't help LL Bean introduced a different model number. All I wanted to do was swap the same boot for a smaller size. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.

The shoe was disappointing, in that the tongue is way too wide and bunches up in an unsightly and uncomfortable way, as it puts a lot of pressure on the top of the foot. BTW, I wear an 8.5 shoe size, and needed to drop down to a 7.5 for length to fit, and it was still a touch long.

I am 77. The uppers on my old boots were repaired many times and I enjoyed them for over 30 years until the sole wore thru. The back stitching on my new boots came loose in 6 months. Quality is not what it was 30 years ago

Beware, I received used/returned shoes even though I bought shoes in new condition. They arrived in a plain brown box with no packaging or tissue paper inside, the shoes were visibly scuffed, and the soles had hair and debris on the bottom. Very dissatisfied and now have to return and order from somewhere else.

Size 7 was too small. Size 8 to large. They don't have 1/2 sizes anymore.

I've had these boots for less than two years and I really loved them until they started to fall apart. Within a few months the pull straps on the back pulled out from the bottom. Then after 1 1/2 years, the stitching tore on the back of the boots. I wish I could fix them but I think I'll cut my losses and get different boots. I only use them in the mornings when walking my dogs so they are not abused. I am disappointed.

The right boot separated at the seam between the leather and rubber sole. I tried to glue it back but it keeps separating.

I thought these boots would keep my feet warm but they absolutely do not. Even with heavy woolen socks. I am very disappointed. Perhaps I misunderstood the advertising or L L Bean information. Woe is me and shame on me for not researching further prior to spending over $129.00 plus sales tax. Please do not send further L. L. Bean advertising or other information to me. I will be closing my account.

Sent the wrong type of shoes 2 times in a row. Will never order from Zappos again. Really poor quality control on what is mailed. How hard is it to match what was order to what is mailed?

I ordered these 6" boots to go w/ the mocs and 10" boots I already have and was really shocked when I opened the box and saw them. The first thing I noticed was the color was way off, more like a light brown, certainly not the golden tan color they've been for years and what's shown online and in the catalogs. Then the leather itself looked really cheap, like thin vinyl, even my wife commented on how cheap they looked. I called customer service who was very helpful and promptly set out another pair which we both hoped would be up to the normal Bean boot standards. Unfortunately the second pair looked just like the first. I can appreciate these boots are still made in Maine, but for the price paid, I wouldn't have expected LL Bean to cheap out on the leather so bad.

Unfortunately, these didn’t fit . My son normally wears 11.5, and these were still gigantic .

As the old adage goes... "they just don't make 'em like they used to" seems appropriate in our case. These are only two years old and only worn about a years time. I just don't get it?!!! I have friends who still have theirs from the '80's?! What a shame!

A simple walk in the park on wet grass with my dog. Incredible. Not a long walk mind you about 20 minutes. This pair would stand no chance in a puddle . . .

I love the way these look but the reality is that they are not really waterproof. I get that they don't have goretex and I get that they are only 6 inches. But I walk through puddles in Michigan and I come home and my feet are wet. I don't really see the point of wearing these. I have had them for a few years now and they haven't really softened up either. I wear them because they look cool, but in terms of keeping my feet dry, they are about as good as my tennis shoes.
