This is the first down coat I ever tried on that looked attractive. I didn't look like a big marshmallow. And today it got tested against windchills in the low teens. The only part of me that was warm was inside the coat.

I needed to add a vest underneath for windy cold days in the 20's. Great as a car coat, roomy enough in the leg area when driving. Love it!

Love this warm longer length coat that is really cozy in the cold weather, not bulky, not heavy. I just wish the zipper felt more substantial but I do appreciate that it unzips at the bottom for ease of sitting, especially while driving. It would be great to have more colors next season.

Get a size up if you want to wear over a heavy sweater!

This coat is so lightweight and warm...perfect for winters in Ohio. I tried other coats at the L.L.Bean store but found this one to be the most comfortable and offered ease of movement.

This coat is warm, breathable, and lightweight, everything I wanted in a knee-length winter everyday coat. I walk for my commute, so a coat that I can wear with business casual tops was important to me. The hood has a slight duck bill to it, which comes in very handy in Chicago area windy snowy conditions.

This coat weighs nothing and keeps me warm. I would not want to be outside on a windy, 20 degree, day and standing still while wearing it, but walking at a reasonable clip with this on was perfect. I vary the layers underneath for the outside temperature, and have been impressed with how much warmth this coat provides, especially given its lightness. The only complaint is the fit. It runs large in the hip area, but tight in the shoulders and arms, which is the absolute opposite of what I would expect given my shape. I have had this same problem with other L.L. Bean coats, and no, I am not busty. Additionally, I am quite short ... meaning under 5'4", and the arm length is perfect for me, so I suspect the arms may be too short for someone much taller.

I bought this coat for myself (blue) and my mom (black) a few years ago! We are both short and the petite fits great, especially in the arm length! Every year I watch to see if LLBean will come up with some NEW colors! I would love a nice pink or light blue. Something a little brighter and fun. Maybe next year??? Come LLBean, we need some new colors and some better discounts too! What happened to the 20% off discount at the holidays????

This is the perfect coat for our cold northeast winter. I also have the shorter style, but I'm loving this longer coat with a hood.

Fits true to size. States that best to have non-bulky clothes under & found that to be true as the arm fits a little tight with bulky sweater underneath. Would definitely buy it again.

I've never felt sexy in a winter coat but it hugs me in all the right places and I love the length. I'm obsessed with how lightweight and warm it is. Worth the splurge I'm very happy. :)

I love this jacket! It's really warm and the hood stays over my head. I've tested it in really cold temperatures (zero degree wind chill) and it's kept me warm (with proper layering and bundling up).

warm and attractive. my only negative comment is that I think it runs large. I am usually a medium, ordered one and it was pretty big. the small fits. so, size down. I lost $6.50 returning the first coat.

I'm happy with my new 850. It is warm and fits me well. I previously bought the 850 jacket which has also served me well, but has lost warmth over time. This new longer length adds warmth and looks less sporty. My only complaint is that the closure end of the zipper a little funky. The zipper does not separate easily; I have to try it a few times every time I take off the coat, which is annoying. I fear for the durability of the zipper, but time will tell.

I love this coat, keeps me warm with plenty of pocket space, I like that it zips into its own travel size bag, and the color is a really nice deep purple. I had one before in black and when it was time for a new one I got the exact same thing!
