I have taken these boots out on a hiking trip last weekend. The boot had 40 hours of use total when the sole started to separate from this boot on both sides at the same spot.

I've used several different models of Salomon boots and never had an issue with blisters until this pair. Even after hundreds of miles of break-in, taping my heels, and using liners, I still get hot spots even during short day hikes. Complete waste of money.

These shoes were terrible to break in and left my feet aching for weeks. On top of that they started to fall apart after only 2 months. I was able to send them back on warranty but even though the new shoes were $80 cheaper it didn't matter. It's just a straight swap. Will definitely not be purchasing from this company again.

After years and 3/4 pairs of the Quest GTX over the years, always just buying the same size as a a like for like replacement. This boot the sizes were waaaayyy off, had to move down to a 7 from an 8. Feels cheap and like it won't last.

After multiple years of purchasing the Gore-Tex train runners, and being extremely happy with them along with most of their products, I decided to go with their boots for the winter for hiking in the mountains as living in the Pacific Northwest. We get a lot of rain as well. I purchase these boots, and within the first few days of hiking in the mountains, it rained every day and my feet got wet in the first few hours I would pull the insert
all out and it would be wet, I was told these were Gore-Tex and there was no treatment involved. Unfortunately, I had to return them and upgrade to an Italian brand. I came highly recommended, but I will forever still love Solomon, running shoes, and the rest of their products, including the skis as I am a Rossi guy. sorry, Salomon I still like your branding will continue to purchase it just not your hiking boots.

I hiked a trail in Ontario for two hours in wet snow. The snow did come in from the top of the boot. About an hour in, the boots started to feel damp, and by the end, I could hear water sloshing and I could have filled a glass of water wringing out my socks. Took days to dry out. I'm really surprised bc these boots are at the top of a lot of lists online. I really don't understand it. To be clear it was both boots. Maybe it was just a bad batch. I'm returning them.

Not sure if I have got a bad pair. But, unfortunately they are running really badly on one ankle. It appears to be from one of the lace eyelets. Can't really use them at the moment. May need to return them. M

I've solely worn quest boots from Salomon for roughly 15 years. By far the best boots out there. But this new style has a terrible sole, mid outer foot! They dug into my foot so bad I couldn't wear them for more than an hour at a time. Normal break in in previous models takes a few days, this is not a break in issue. It's the sole! They ruined an amazing boot so I switched back to Zamberlan. I hope the new speed cross still fit the same or I'll have to find a new shoe as well! Bummer, Bummer, Bummer!!!!

I bought these boots 3 weeks ago based on the reviews I had read, I was expecting that for the price they would be more comfortable than my old Merrell 2. Unfortunately, it was not like that, the boot despite the fact that I bought it one size larger than usual, it is very tight in the center. I had put >100 miles to try to break them in, but even so, I can't stop feeling the discomfort. The boot has a piece of plastic on the outside side almost in the center that seems to be digging into the side of my foot. Even when I lose the boot after 10 or 12 miles I can't stand the discomfort and the plastic tap imprinted on the side of my foot.

I loved the Salomon Quest 4D 3 GTX. This redesign has a plastic strap running up from the arch that is terribly uncomfortable as it stands into my foot. So sad I can no longer get my favorite boot, these are useless for me.

I have religiously stuck with these boots for the past 6 years (started when they were called the 'quest prime' as they were 10/10 good and always have been, HOWEVER, this round of boots had me left sorely disappointed.
I'm the outside of the sole there is a little plastic fin the extends up the side of your foot. This seems to serve no purpose but to dig into the side of your foot and make it impossible to walk. I'm not kidding when I said I couldn't even get round the block before going home and taking off the boots. I'm so saddened by this because Salomon has been a stand out and go to for my boots for the last 7 years and now I'm going to have to switch brands and find something suitable, more like the older style quests.
I use use my boots for search and rescue, as well as hiking so naturally I'm in my boots for in excess of 15 hours at a time. The just can't happen if I can barely make it round the block.
Very disappointed

Do not be fooled by "ONLY 5 left" on company website! The new Quest line of hikers simply does not have the comfort, quality, nor the craftsmanship you may have come to expect. The attention to detail and comfort level is seriously lacking. Being a loyal customer I have come to expect more support when issues arise. I am 64 yrs. old and have been told I don't know my own boot size. REALLY. So don't expect any type of compensation if not satisfied. I solemnly swear to never purchase from this company again! Yup- another cookie-cutter boot. Please opt me out of future communications

These boots were never waterproof from day one. I returned them and and recieved a new pair. The second pair had the same problem. Leaked under mild conditions. I'll stick to my KEEN DRY boots from now on.

These have always been my go-to for hiking shoes lasting one or two seasons of extensive hiking but not this pair started falling apart after four short hikes. I would not recommend these shoes for hiking and risking them falling apart while on trail! For the price and lack of durability of these shoes don't waste your money

Hello guys,
I just wanted to inform you about my experience with Salomon team considering my purchase of Salomon Quest 4 hiking boots. The model that I got today has slightly different logo (like Salomon chat agent said to me :) which made me suspicious about product not being genuine. Since I paid for them a hefty price of 230 USD I expected to get the product that looks like the one on official website of Salomon. After I sent a Salomon agent the article number of the boots, he told me that I have a genuine product, but could not send me a SINGLE photo of the boots that I got from their warehouse to prove that he´s telling the truth and I on the other hand, could not find a single photo of the boots with logo that look like mine on the whole internet. I´m pretty sure that I paid full price for the fake Salomon boots and the whole Salomon team didn´t do even a single thing to prove me wrong. So sad, coming from a long time Salomon fan.
Be cautious about these boots.
That was then last product I bought form Salomon ever again.

I have had 2 pairs of the quest 4 gor-tex. I have had to glue portions of the boot myself.
I use them for work and get about a month out of them before they start falling apart.

I bought these in Miami to do some treks across South America. After 2 average hikes (15km each) the boots are already starting to fall apart. It looks like an issue with the glue that holds them together. Really disappointed as there's nowhere to buy another pair.
The boots themselves are really comfortable and pretty sturdy so it's a real shame they didn't go the extra mile and find a way to solve the issue. Looks like I'll be investing in a ton of superglue to try and keep these together for the next year while I travel.

I had my first pair replaced under warranty after around 250-300 miles. The rubber toe had split away from the body causing wet feet. Warranty replacement. I'm now 256 miles into the warranty replacement and same issue on both feet, they're now in the bin.

These QUEST 4D 3 GTX hiking boots failed just a few months after purchasing them in July 30, 2020. After the separation/failure of the seams, water and dirt from rainy hikes damaged the leather causing it to crack, fall apart and curl, now catching and becoming tattered on trail rocks, roots and twigs. See photo taken less than a year after purchase date. They are far worse now, and unusable! Also, the cheap rubber soles failed quickly in the thin areas. The thickness of the traction says there should still be a few hundred miles left, if the shoes were not poor quality. I'm saddened, as I had high hopes for this shoe, and it was so comfortable. Please improve your quality, Salomon. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED!

I am pretty disappointed in the quality of these boots. They started to separate from the sole during the first season of use. During the second season they lost their waterproofness and my feet would be soaked after walking through wet grass. Eventually the leather separated from the sole and the boot is now useless. There seems to be some quality control issues as it is a common complaint on other reviews. I wouldn't buy again.
