Most comfortable and the lightest Hiking shoe I've ever worn! Love them! I can't wait to add some more miles on them this weekend! Thank you so much to the People at the LL Bean Store in Salem, NH, they placed them on hold for me as this was the only store in my area that had my size in this shoe in stock! My feet really do appreciate it! Thank you!

Shoes are big and wide enough for a big man like me (198 cm talla and appr. 125 kg).

Had a few Salomon shoes and mids in the last few years. These are nice fitting and ruggedly performing for me very well. Personally I'd recommend them highly...!!

This is a great shoe. I wear it for work, leisure, and all my outdoor activity. Shoe fits like a glove and provides great support on all terrain. Truly a GOAT (Go Over Any Terrain) shoe.

I purchased the Salomon X Ultra 4 hiking shoes to replace an older pair of Salomon X Ultra light hiking shoes that were finally starting to wear out after over 1600 miles of hiking. For my feet, the Salomon X Ultra 4's fit great, are very light weight and comfortable over the moderate trails that I typically hike, and are definitely water-proof. I hope that LL Bean continues to carry this line of Salomon Ultra light hiking shoes next year when I need to replace this pair. I highly recommend these hiking shoes!

Well made, comfortable. The single point lace system is odd and tricky to adjust.

I can honestly say that after 5 months of wearing XA PRO 3D V8, this latest edition of X Ultra is a relief. I was initially concerned about how narrow it was, but after a brief break-in time, it was ready to use. It's more comfortable to wear and doesn't restrict high-intensity movements. My feet do not hurt even after hours of use. It's firmly constructed and fully waterproof. I am certain that this will withstand any storm.

I just got these shoes and went on 5 mile hike in them and they were so comfortable! Super grippy too! And honestly they're pretty stylish for outdoor wear. I like outdoor gear I can wear with regular clothes. I would definitely recommend these or the ones that aren't Gortex for the summer months

I was a huge fan of the X-Ultra 3 hiking boots so I was very excited to get these. Straight out of the box onto the Franconia Ridge loop hike in New Hampshire. Almost 9 miles of the granite states infamous hiking trails and I couldn't have been happier. Great traction. Went on Dirt, wet rocks, snow, and rocky ledge with zero issues. The fit was perfect. Though never a real issue, Salomon has upped their game as far as shoe fit goes. Snug enough to keep you stable but not so tight you run into issues with blisters. These are going to become my summer, go to hiking shoe for sure!

I've worn these a few days out now, and so far they have really done the trick that I was hoping for, a great hiking shoe that can do more than walk. I did a bike ride to a sloppy hike that turned into a ski tour, and then also used them as approach shoes to a climb. Overall quite happy with them, and have recommended them to friends along the way.
Sizing: True to size, I wear a 12 pretty much across the board.

Love my new Salomon Cross Hike Mid GTX! They felt great right out of the box. I’ve had 2 pairs of Salomon shoes in the past but this is the first time trying an ankle boot style. I wasn’t sure if I would like that feature but it is great when hiking especially on uneven terrain, I felt I had extra ankle support. I have prescription orthotics that I typically use but with the Ortholite insoles I didn’t need them. These can be removed if you want to put in your own insoles. Another feature is that they are so light weight which is nice for hiking especially in hot weather. I am looking forward to many outdoor adventures in my new Salomon cross hikes!

...but once I did I like them just as much as my X Ultra 3 GTXs and XA 3D Pro GTXs. I haven't experienced any of the problems mentioned in some of the other reviews. I'm glad they added some more colors and plan to buy a pair in Cumin if Salomon ever gets a pair of 10.5s in stock.

This is my second pair of Salomon X Ultra GTX shoes as I currently own the previous model. I've been very pleased with the newest Ultra 4 GTX as I think the upper's have greater cushioning while providing solid comfort and support. I use my Ultra GTX shoes for both road walking and uneven trail hikes. Overall performance is excellent if your looking for a strong rugged, yet light weight trail shoe. I would purchase this model again and recommend them to others.
I'd also recommend:

I've owned alot of pairs of Salomons over the years, and everytime they release something new, it never ceases to amaze me!I enjoy moving quickly on the trail, so having a shoe that feels lighter, but still has the same amount of stability, traction and grip is key!

I've taken the X Ultra 4's on a few trails now and know they're going to be my hiking shoe of choice. Some shoes take several uses before they're broken in. These shoes felt like you've already logged 100 miles on them the first time you put them on. I live in Salt Lake City, a lot of our trails are already covered in ice and snow and the traction and grip on these are good enough I didn't have to use my micro spikes. They're also light enough to be used as trail runners. Can't wait to use them on a long trail next spring and summer. Putting in for a permit for Mount Whitney and these will be the shoes I wear to summit that peak.

Had a pair of the of the X Ultra 4 for a while now and so far they are holding up, fit comfortably and are very light. I have not done a serious hike yet but they seem like they will be good. Long term durability will be the test

They last well, are comfortable, lightweight and properly waterproof. They also look pretty good.
However, they do tend to come loose after a few km and require regular re-tightening which can be frustrating.

I have bought two pair of these shoes. What I like: great comfort and stability when hiking. Also the goretex seems to last longer than the ultra 3. What I don't like: the floating tongue make the shoe difficult to put on. Also the Achilles heal protector is too long and is not made out of durable material so I ended up with a hole in both feet. I hope the x ultra 5 fixes these two problems.
