I started wearing Solomon shoes in 2013 and I love them only get the gortex ones. They have made a very good quality product. I continue to buy their shoes and will do for many many years.

I am a delivery driver, I walk on average 12 miles a day, unboxed them today and walked 11 miles, no break in required, lightweight, rugged, great support, not sure of water resistance...were in a drought. I will probably get 1500 to 1800 miles as I did with the previous generation.

I love these shoes. People complain about the laces, I really like the way they work

Love my new waterproof shoes! The sizes run small so I am in a mens 9.5 instead of an 8.0. I wear a womens 9.5 D in day to day life. :-)

I bought the shoes a month ago and I'll be using them every day walking to work for miles I love it very comfortable and very lightweight

I've had trouble recently getting walking shoes to fit - particularly the small toes on the right foot. I tried these wider Salomons and dropped half a size back to the UK 9.5s I've typically required. They seem to be perfect, based on early experience walking round the house. No issues with the heel, which I think some have complained about. Similarly no issues with the instep. I think my soles have flattened in recent years, so I was particularly concerned about the instep. I had the Ultra 3, which I loved but have become a bit floppy over time. My early impressions are that the Ultra 4 has a more supportive upper, which will hopefully hold up better. Hopefully I can update this review later, but initial impressions are good.

I have been a fairly devoted Salomon footwear user for hitting the trails and the new X Ultra 4 is the best version yet. The fit for someone with a low instep, mid width and shallow arch is perfect. New version has a bit of a tongue at the heel which makes entry much easier as the quick lacing doesn't allow you to open up the shoe. If your hitting the trail though you will find these light, dry and very supportive. Some users may be wary of the instep forming a pinch line but this hasn't been an issue except on trails with a lot of off camber hiking.

I guess coming from fell running to walking I have a different expectation of the shoes.. I always buy sports shoes a size to big and add an additional insole/big socks if needed.. Waterproof, comfortable, great grip and light.. Perfect in my opinion..

I was abit weary of buying these because there's some negative reviews but I've had Solomon shoes for about 10 years and been happy with every pair I've had and these are the best yet comfy and look really good

This isn't an indepth review as only just got them, but had to comment on so many reviews saying these are really uncomfortable and cause pain in the ankle. Having owned the ultra 3s for many year's, which took ages to wear in and was extremely uncomfortable, but now fit like a pair of slippers they are so comfortable. So to my surprise when putting the 4's on how comfy they are out of the box after hearing all the comments. Whether it's just to do with foot shape and ankle geometry I don't know, but these are comfy out of the box, I just hope they are as hard wearing as the 3"s that's had everything thrown at them, I will update in due course.

I used them twice and then lost them. They fell out of my truck on a rough 4x4 road in Death Valley. I want a new pair but I can't find a size 9 anywhere.

I find the shoes to be comfortable. I wear a 8.5 Wide and had to order a 9.5 normal to fit right. I have seen reviews where people said they were less comfortable than the X3. I have found that many hiking shoes (not boots) are like wearing slippers. Light and very comfortable. These shoes are designed to be more robust, closer to boots. If you are used to the lighter, slipper like feel then you might find these a bit rougher. Like going from wearing sneakers all summer to street shoes in the fall. The feet have to get used to them. I was going from heavy leather hiking boots to these so, for me they are comfortable. The quick laces take some getting used to but, I like them, they are just different.

Extremely comfortable, surprisingly warm, and waterproof (walked through streams and waterfall areas). No laces, so they are quick to get on and off and never loosened while walking.

After a Winter of cold feet in 2020, I found the perfect waterproof hiking boot to go with my snowshoes. The X Ultra 4 Gore-Tex low-cut was a delightful surprise purchase I made in Winter 2021. Standard sizing with great stability and foot protection. I literally only use this shoe for Winter hiking and snowshoeing and my feet have never been cold. I prefer wearing gaiters over the low-cut version for better agility. Highly recommend the X Ultra shoe for this purpose.

These feel much more sturdy than my 3's did. Really hug your feet and are very light. I could easily wear these all day.

I purchased these shoes back in May. At first, I was a little wary, considering some of the negative reviews. At first I wasn't even sure if these shoes were comfortable. On my feet, there is a small bump that sits right below my big toe. It wasn't uncomfortable, but I noticed it, and my brain tried to make sense of whether or not these fit right or felt right. However, after hiking for a few miles I no longer felt it nor do I feel it now. What I do feel is cadillac comfort and a shoe that I can feel confident in. I have worn these shoes extensively while backpacking this year, including one trip where I had a 75 pound pack and gained 3,000 feet of elevation on our first day. The shoes stayed comfortable. Here is what I like about them. Stiff for more aggressive terrain, excellent traction in loose stuff and wet stuff, and great comfort over long days. I receommended them to my brother for his first backpacking trip with me this year and he bought them and loves them.

I've done a few day hikes in these now and spent four days backpacking around Ouray, CO and these shoes are beast! Highly recommend!

Have 8 different pairs of Salomon's. The X ULTRA 4 GORE-TEX are the best! Keep improving and providing top quality products!!!!!!!!!!!!!
