Love the look and feel of these shoes. Same Salomon fit every time! I've been wearing light trail runners lately, and these aren't them. A sturdily built shoe that I am proud to have in my collection!!!!

Having come from the X Ultra 3 that is overall a softer and more forgiving boot, I felt the X Ultra 4 was lighter but way too stiff, and I even went back and got an extra pair of the 3s before they went out of stock. The 4s took several weeks and probably 30-40 miles to really break in, and I had some toe box issues that pressed on the big toenail and other toes, especially downhill (I wear 10.5 wide). BUT, after a month or so of hiking in them, they got more and more comfortable, and I love how light and stiff they are now that they fit my foot. I did the K2 Base Camp trek in Pakistan, which is basically all rock and lots of up and down over the glacier, and had zero hot spots or sore toes. I'm now here to get a new pair since I wore mine out over a few hundred miles, and am prepared to break them in again even though I still have the 3s in the box. I thought breaking in boots was a thing of the past, but if you want the lightness and stiffness of these boots, for me it was worth it. Just take the time to break them in and you'll be happy.

Height is a personal preference, but these have worked well for me as snow boots. The waterproof material is great too.

Bought the X-Ultra 4's to perform as my pair of waterproof shoes, and received so much more than that. Extremely comfy, well insulated, and they keep the sludge and salt of a Canadian winter off of my feet.

Fits great. Feet are warm and dry. Perfect for pre & post skiing.

I have a previous generation and these are more comfortable with better features. I really like that what used to be the first lace hook now captures the lace, leaving only one hook to gran before tying. Seems like a small thing, but my laces always slipped off that first hook while lacing, making it frustrating. All fixed now. I just got these for Christmas from my wife and I will be ordering the other colors! True to size.

I normally do not write product reviews unless warranted. I decided to purchase these boots after chatting w/ a good friend mine who happens to be a MD / Podiatrist. He frequently wears Salomans. Several years ago, I broke my left ankle, foot, right ankle and right foot. OIF. My friend recommended these and wow arch / foot support is on a whole new level. Lightweight, super comfortable and high quality + GORE-TEX at a reasonable price point. It was a no brainer. I would definitely recommend these boots to anyone.

i have had them for about a month now and i am extremely pleased with them. the fit is perfect and they stay dry in wet conditions which is very important to me . i would recommend them to anyone looking for a good hiking boot. they were actually my first pair of Salomons but wont be my last. i have tried others but certainly not anywhere as good as these. i have bought ones that were supposed to be water proof but never were .you cant go wrong with these

I bought these boots a little over a month ago, I am a mail carrier by trade. First thing first, they are extremely comfortable for a long day on my feet, second, I live in northern Montana, the weather gets pretty brutal in my area, these boots have kept my feet dry time and time again. I would recommend this shoe to anyone looking for a comfortable hiking boot!

I am a huge fan of Salomon products and own multiple trail running shoes, hiking boots and downhill ski boots. They just fit me so well and are always comfortable from day one. This brand does not disappoint and if for some rare reason they do, their customer service team and a pleasure to work with through any product issues. I needed a new hiking boot after 6 seasons with my last Salomon boots. I had a issue with the boot and customer service worked with me to make the problem right. Buy this boot you won't go wrong!!!!

I bought these boots to take to SE Alaska as my primary footwear. I knew they would see a ton of rain as I was spending two weeks in the Tongass NF. THE only time my feet got wet was when we were in the middle of a huge area of muskeg - mud and muck that never drains. They held up to anything and everything I threw at them - Hiking through the rainforest and above treeline. They're just permanently stained now:)

I bought these 3 days ago. Very comfortable and fits great . I walk 40 miles already on tracks and up and down hills every where I go .. best shoes I ever had . I highly recommend them .

Broke them in slightly before doing some gnarly mountain hikes. Super light, super comfortable, and kept my feet dry. First hike was 10 mile hike with creek crossings and 3200 elevation change, meaning lots of rocks and some "climbing". Shoes had good support, were light, didn't cause blisters, and gripped really well. Full stars brohs!

It tends to take me a while to find perfect shoes, because of my corny, thorny feet - which are a leftover from ill-fitting shoes in childhood. I have to test, try, review, return, rinse and repeat. Salomon let me do that. I am happy that they were patient, very encouraging and helped me to find my perfect walking shoes. Great customer service. The shoes are comfortable with little breaking-in needed but and no trouble for my always tender feet. I enjoy wearing them. They are indeed waterproof and are the best outdoor shoes I have ever had

I'm on my second pair, and decided to finally review these. I don't understand the hate, I will not hike without them. Sizing is true to brannock sizing, and the extra width is great for us people who actually have 4E+ feet. Anyone complaining that they're "too wide" doesn't have wide feet. The added support around the instep allows me to keep the forefoot loose while locking my heel in place. The mid allows more freedom than a boot, but more support than a sneaker. I recently rolled my ankle and have been using these in the gym instead of my Hoka's for the added support/stability without issue. Durability wise they're on par with previous generations. I had 2 pair X Ultra 3 mids before and both 3s and 4s lasted about a year. They start to blowout on the 5th Met on all Salomons. To me that's a "me" issue not a shoe issue. I'm extremely hard on shoes, and have never had footwear last over a year. The break-in was extremely quick. And the weight(or lack of) is otherworldly. After just a couple 5 mile hikes they feel like an extension of my foot. I love em! Here's to many more days hiking!

Those shoes are light, wide and very comfortable. I highly recommend It!

These boots are light weight and extremely comfortable. I wear them every day in Hawaii where its hot/cold, wet and rocky slopes. My feet are not tired at the end of the day as they are with other boots Ive had.

Bought them on a Friday and hit the trail Saturday morning for a weekend backpacking trip to Big Sur. I carried 30 lbs 25 miles and up 5,500' in elevation over two days and the shoes held up great! No blisters or pain - the shoes felt light, comfortable, and looked great! I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a great pair of hiking shoes. I'll be wearing these babies in a few weeks for a 6 day 75 mile Yosemite backpacking trek and won't think twice about making sure these are on my feet.

Comfortable out of the box. Better after 20 miles.
