I like the Timp 2 and I was really excited for the Timp 3. When I recieved my box I couldn't wait to try them on. But when I did, I was really disappointed in the fit. The wide toe box was gone. My confidence in Altra has been shaken. I returned these and purchased a wide in a different brand and I am quite happy with them. I find that Altra was once reliable with the zero drop and the wide toe box. Now they aren't.

Tried them side by side with my remaining Timp 1.5. Same length, same insole width. Height at the toes is definitely improved compared to Timp2, almost sufficient. However, for the correct length and heel fit, the front upper is extremely tight. I could tolerate them for only a few miles before I had to return them. I have been using the Timp exclusively for my 50 and 100 mile races. The Olympus has too much cushioning and bother my knees, the LPs not enough cushioning for a long race. What am I supposed to do, train with the LP and race with a different brand/heel drop ? Sorry Altra, but after 30+ pairs it's time to say farewell and look elsewhere.

Ran only 4.5 miles on trails and already the sleek fabric that is on the lateral and medial upper is coming off. If it continues to peel, this will literally lead to the Altra logo coming off. Pretty upset after looking forward to this shoe for a while :(

Timp 1.5 was Amazing! Timp 2.0 Strike 1 :( Timp 3.0 Strike 2:( Timp 4.0 (Copy the 1.5 and call it good) On the bright side the Olympus is better than ever!

Just sooo narrow. Causes blisters on my pinky toe it squishes my toes together. I've seen Altria's solution is to size up a 1/2 size. The length of the shoe is true to size, it's the more narrow/low volume fit they are moving towards. Just please bring back a roomy toe box, please! Seriously, please!

Too narrow! They are just like any other shoe now. Bring back the real Altras with actual footshape. Also, if you are going to advertise "4 different varieties of footshape" at least tell us what those are and which shoe is which.

Put the shoes on and ran 4 miles on a trail. The sides of the shoes started coming apart. Poor quality shoes

I had the 1.5. Perfect. Then the 2.. what is going on? They are a completely different shoe! I had blisters while wearing Altras for the first time in my life after wearing these shoes. I had to get LP5 and spend yet more money. Please go back to your roots. Wide toe box is what sold me years ago. Now I am struggling to find a shoe that fits anymore.

Put about 30 miles on these already and they feel great! I bought the TIMP 2s about a year ago and they are the best shoe I've ever worn. These seem to be the same! I got a half a size up and I would recommend. They felt a bit tight before I broke them in. But other than that Altra has designed an amazing shoe once again!

I have been a loyal fan of Altra for 10 years. I have run thousands of miles on road and trail with dozens of their shoes. In the trail models, I have used all of the generations of the Lone Peaks (including 1.0), Timp, and Olympus. After all the complaints of the Timp 2.0, I decided to wait a generation for the 3.0. Unfortunately, it is just a strange, uncomfortable shoe. The toebox is fine- a bit more narrow than the 1.5, but still space to wiggle the piggies. Even with the laces lossened, the vamp is low, tight, and uncomfortable. After wearing them around the house for several hours, the top of my arch was sore, and my toes had gone to sleep in protest. The thought of wearing them for a 5 mile training run had me cringing. The thought of wearing them for an ultra-distance race was unfeasible. I normally wear a size 11, but the 11 was sloppy and would be dangerous on any technical terrain

Was excited upon hearing a great review on youtube. I am a Long time Lone Peak user but need a little more cushion these days. I thought the Timp would be the perfect shoe to do that. Upon receiving I tried them on and they are way to snug in the forefoot and the top of the shoe presses into my foot. The Lone Peaks were trending to this tighter fit which was another reason I was excited to try the Timp but the Time is way worse. I love Altra..the zero drop with cushion is the best idea for a shoe ever. Worn Superiors and Lone Peaks for many years. It's definitely getting harder and harder to justify spending this kind of money on shoes that hurt my feet because they are to tight. When desiging future models Altra should consider their roots and the reasoning behind why their brand was so popular amongst trail runners in the first place. There are only a few reviews left so far and none of them are positive. Please take this feedback seriously. Like I mentioned I have noticed this trend toward reduced quality in so many ways. I know you can right the ship!

DO NOT BUY!!! I went 1/2 Size larger per recommendation for well. However after two days of wearing around the house the siding began to come off. They didn't even make it to first run.

All of these shoes saying that the shoe is too narrow should have scared me off. I decided to test a pair anyways. They are so narrow! Even more narrow than my Hokas. Timp 1.5 was a great width. These are just like any other shoe. I keep seeing responses from Altra that we should just size up. That does not help when the issue is with the width, not length. Most runners tend to size up anyways, are they suggesting we size up 2 sizes? Those would be like clown shoes. Altra, PLEASE take a took at your plans and take all of these negative reviews into account. Runners love(d) you because you made shoes that fit. Now your shoes just like any other.

Timp 1.0 were the best shoes I've ever owned. I still own a pair that are worn out in every way you could imagine, but I don't have the heart to throw them away. When I bought my Timp 1.5 I thought I must have just gotten a wiggy pair because they looked like the Timp 1.0 but the foot-bed was nowhere near as stable. I have ankles that want to roll out so I'm very sensitive to foot-bed stability. I still wear the 1.5 but when I saw the Timp 2.0 I got my hopes up again and found out that not only was the foot-bed not back to the Timp 1.0 style but the top of the shoe smashed down so hard on my instep and top of my toes that I could only wear them for very short periods of time. If I could sit down with management and the design team I would beg, and plead, and implore them to please, please, please go back to your roots and make the Timp 1.0 shoe that all of us out here want to buy over, and over, and over again. Shoot, just take the original shoe and spiff it up a bit cosmetically and call it whatever you want.

Loved the TIMP 1.5 and the earlier version! Avoided the TIMP 2 after reading all the negative reviews about the fit being now too narrow.. After contacting Altra customer support I was hopeful that the TIMP 3 would resolve that issue. They wrote, "the new Timp 3 should have a much improved fit and feel over the Timp 2". No such luck and it was obvious just looking at them that they were not as wide in the toe box as the TIMP 1.5, Double dang as I also convinced my girlfriend to buy a pair and they were too narrow for her too. I would love to find another shoe by Altra that fit like the TIMP 1.5. Maybe the Lone Peak but I don't any of see those available in wide on this website. Please make a TIMP 4 that fits.

I am sad they no longer make this shoe. It has been the best fit and feel I have ever experienced. None of the new shoes they make feel as good as this one and I have tried them all. This shoe was a masterpiece.

I normally take a 7.5 in Men's sizes, but had to return and get a size 8.5. Toe box is big and comfy, but for those of us w/ long toes, sizing up is necessary. Arch support is great and I've been wearing them all day since they came out of the box. No breaking in necessary.

Over 400 miles on Timp 2s. Maybe these shoes just happen to fit me perfectly, but I've never worn a pair of shoes that facilitate neutral, mid-sole running as Timps have. Completely even wear.

I literally have tried over 20 pairs of shoes and have lost sooooo much money having to resell them. When Brooks stoped making the pure grit I have worn for years I was completely lost. I need a 0-4mm drop and some cushion with ground feel buy my foot and heel and ankle are soo skinny nothing fits. I can't have that control on the inside of the heel either or my knees hurt so even the Bushidos were aweful even though they fit. My feet literally fell sideways in the superiors and Lone Peaks, that's how skinny my foot is. If you need wider then go to those shoes but Altra please please please never change the fit of the Timp 3. Leave it alone for us skinny foot people.

Just a tad shorter than the Timp 2. More room/softer feel in toe box. Maybe doesn't drain as well as Timp 2

I feel obligated to write this even though it's regarding the Timp 2. When I researched these shoes they had a low rating but I took a chance with them. After running 130 plus miles in them they still look brand new and have no visible defects. They are super comfortable and I couldn't be happier about the shoes. I'm not sure if random people are getting a lemon shoe but the pair I got still looks brand new!

I went back to the Timps after trying Lone Peaks and feeling I need more cushion. They feel a little more snug but still fit. Good cushioning, which allows me to feel more confident on the trails, but not so much that I feel like I'm on platform shoes (which is my feeling on the Olympus). One Caveat: previous Timps have had durability issues--my foot went out the side of my last pair after just 300 miles or so. Too early to see if that will be an issue here.

My last pair of Timps ended up ripping along the lateral aspects. But I love the feel so much, I am giving the newer Timp3 a try. Thus far, very pleased! (but < 100 miles thus far). I live on gravel and find they work very well.
