This shoe was so close to being my favorite pair of running shoes. I tried and returned the Timp 2. The fit never felt right to me. But the Timp 3 fit felt great, a significant improvement. It was comfortably snug but not too tight. The Quantic midsole is terrific, although I can't comment on its long-term durability. The shoe is pretty light considering its stack height, and it felt reasonably agile as well. It felt more agile than the Lone Peak 5, in my opinion. And I think the Timp 3 looks great too! Like so many others have experienced with this shoe, the fatal flaw is that the sides started to delaminate very quickly (see the pictures). For me, I tried two pairs and the left shoe in both pairs started to delaminate in the same places after the very first run, and my very first runs in these shoes were on a treadmill. This would be disappointing in any new shoe, but for shoes this expensive, it is inexcusable. If Altra fixes this, they will have a killer shoe on their hands, but it's impossible to recommend this shoe until then.

The shoe honestly felt great to run in but there was a serious design flaw. The shoe started to fall apart after the second run and only 6 miles in. The design team needs a redesign on this one.

I run the Timp 2 which I liked even though it was a little more narrow in the toe box. I am a female that runs the men's shoe due to my wide feet. Excited for the Timp 3, was looking for improvements in the toe box. Felt the same as the 2 and unfortunately the material used on top of the mesh is pulling apart from the shoe after 2 trail runs. Only option is to try the Olympus but worried it might be too high as I am prone to twisting my ankle and the Lone Peak is not enough cushioning. Would love for Altra to fix the flaws in the Timp as that cushioning is comfortable for me on the trails and enjoy that shoe. Their customer service has been great in response to my comment and pics to them.

Changes to the upper are okay but the overall feel of the shoe is stiffer than the Timp 2. It just feels clunky...deal breaker... returned the shoe.

Wanted to believe Altra fixed low height/volume issue, but I couldn't wear them without painful compression over the mid/forefoot. Like a lot of zero drop runners, I have a nice high arch and high foot volume and Altra used to fit great. Something has happened with Altra shoes over the last 2 years that's resulted in lower volume and worse fitting shoes in the mid/forefoot. Noticed it in several styles and now despite trying new models in several styles, I will be looking to other brands after 5+ years of Altra loyalty for both road and trail shoes.

Last review. I've really, really tried to stay loyal to Altra. I feel now what Dallas Cowboys fans must feel when they say "maybe next year they'll get it right." Quality does not seem to be a priority at all. I won't be buying anymore Altras for a while until real commitment to quality products can become a visible part of the company.

Loyal Timp 1.5 fan (6'1" >250 lb). Have run multiple half marathons in them. Heaven. After my last pair wore out, tried Timp 2. Aweful. Timp 3. Worse. Spent years searching before finding the 1.5. Please someone post what they are moving to as it is time to leave Altra behind. Thx.

Timp 2.0 is very small footbed and extremely tight on upper shoes. Got blisters on my first run , my Achilles hurt very bad. Will return if possible or toss shoe!! I switched to Lone Peak and was very happy again

I have three pair; each I regret They don't conform to the same sizes as other altra, they're very narrow and I think short as well very tight The delam issue is real; and if happens fast. Has happened on two pair for me I'll keep buying temp hoping for 1.5s, if I could find a supplier of 1.5s I'd buy half a dozen pair

I wish these other reviews had been up when I bought my Timp 3s to replace an older pair of Timps. The delamination others have noted happened to me after my very first trail run! No excuse for such poor design and construction. I love the fit and feel of the Timp and felt lucky to still be able to find the previous generation online. But won't be buying another pair of Timps until they are updated.

Shoe width feels the same as prior Timp 3s I've owned. But there is very low volume and feels like a tight band right across the bottom end of the laces. Also, shoe is delaminating after 1st run. This is my 3rd pair of Timp 3. I'm able to tolerate the poor durability because they have fit so well. But now the fit issue + the delam issue means I'll be looking for a different shoe going forward.

First off, these shoes are extremely comfortable and I loved the fit. Unfortunately that's where the love ends. The lamination started coming apart about 5 miles in and at 10 miles it was AWFUL. The were losing so much of their structure after just 10 miles. I've been wearing Timps for years (1.5s and then the 2s) and as far as fit and comfort these were my favorite. Wish they would've held up. Returned and will probably go back to Brooks Cascadias which I wore for years before going to the Timp 1.5. It sucks as I really did like the zero drop in these shoes.

I've had my Timps for less than 30 days and have only been wearing them for 20 days and they're completely blown out. The top of the shoe is separating from the sole and they are basically just coming apart at every seam and stress point. The logos are even peeling off. As someone who has been wearing Altras for over five years (both the Timp and Lone Peak) it pains me to write this bc I really want them to do better and I keep trying, but the last few iterations have just gotten progressively worse from a quality control standpoint. It's a total bummer and I hope they get the brand back on track.

Comfort was out of this world. They fell apart however after < 1 mile. I even returned and got another pair assuming they were just defective, but the next pair did exactly the same thing so I returned that

I returned these after two runs. Both started to delaminate on the first run and by the second it was clear they would not last. It seems that altar needs to reevaluate their construction methods. I do like the wide toe so might try a different model.

I love my lone peak gen 4's. The time 3 had mixed reviews but I tried anyway. Either I have two defective feet or I should have given the reviews more credit. Both shoes cut into the top of my foot right at the bottom of the laces where this melted plastic borders the tongue/lace opening. The plastic is very rigid at a location that should be anything but. I hope someone at Altra reads these reviews. Returned them. Sorry Altra.

I started using these shoes in 1.0 version-excellent. 1.5 not bad. Had enough stashed to avoid the 2.0 since reviews pointed to a disaster "updated design". 3.0 is the worst version-small toe box, cramped foot platform; found a pair 2.0 with hope they would work. No luck; direct side by side comparison with my old 1.5s showed just what reviewers had said-shrunk foot bed width, tighter fabric usage generating a more cramped feel. Avoid this shoe. The closest I've found to the original fit is the Lone Peak 5 but it doesn't possess the same level of cushion. I have fears that VF the owner will destroy this shoe too. This is a classic uipdate disaster driven by a designer in combination with potentially an account who is looking for manufacturing materials cost saving all to fulfill a non-existent marketing manager design update need. The best thing this company could do is pull out the CAD drawings of the 1.0 or 1.5 out of computer storage and put them back into production. Given what I've read they'd get a lot of lost customers/supports back to the brand. I love my TIMP 1.5; why did you ruin such a terrific shoe!!

I've owned Altras before, size 10, but the Timp 3 is not the old size 10. It would be helpful if Altra would be consistent in their sizing and design of their products, or they will lose customers. I'm ordering a larger size in this shoe to see if that helps, but I suspect other issues may arise. Rather disappointing!

I bought this shoe yesterday morning at 11 am and had to exchange for another today at 5 pm!!! It started to delaminate at the ball foot-bend point, left side! Luckily me local shop exchange but tried to recommend another style! I want to like this shoe! I like the style and color but I was shocked that it delaminated within 29 hours. All I did was walk casually in them. I did not want to believe the other reviews but happened to me. So I have a new second pair, if it happens again I will be extremely disappointed.

I have two pair of timp 1 and they have been a fantastic shoe. I was really excited to get these. To replace my worn out timps. The first pair I ordered were a half size too big. All 7 pairs of my altras are 12.5 but for some reason I had to return and order a 12. No big deal I guess. The second pair fit great but something didn't feel right. My heel was not secure. I measured and compared these to my two other pair of timp 1 and the collar height of the shoe has been reduced by about 3/16". Im not even going to try running in these due to the fact that my heel slides up and down just walking around my house. Very disappointed in these shoes. Altra, you don't need to reinvent the wheel on every new model of shoe.
