I live in the pacific nw and needed a seriously waterproof breathable shoe. Columbia used to be my go- to, but their arches suck now. These shoes were held under water for over 10mins with paper towels inside. They have zero drop and are flexible, lightweight, and super grippy/sturdy. And I hate narrow shoes- these are so much better! Oh and comfy to boot.
Highly recommend

TL;DR
The all weather version of the Lone Peak is a rugged trail shoe. The overall feel of the shoe is much more structured than the others in the Lone Peak line. The underfoot feel is very sturdy and comfortable.
I recently completed the Columbia Plateau Trail (130-mile OKT) using this shoe and they absolutely crushed it. The firm midsole was amazing at protecting my feet from the jagged rocks and the fit was spot on so my foot stayed in place. I really appreciate the extra structure in this model as it helped protect my toes when kicking hidden rocks under the fresh 6-8" of snow. The stability provided by the lace system helped my foot stay planted in the shoe even when the rocks below shifted underfoot. I covered the first ~105 miles in these shoes and walked (danced?) away blister free and feeling strong.
Even after 105 miles, the shoes are still looking like new. The lugs held up well on the thick ballast rock and have only slightly begun to show wear. I believe these will last much longer than the previous models. They are definitely my new favourites.

I have been very happy with Lone Peaks for several years and still find the fit excellent. I am however greatly saddened by the disappearance of the Gaiter trap on the heal. It's not like I can sew Velcro o the heal without compromising the integrity of the waterproofing thus my current gaiters are now useless. I know we have to live with shoe redesigns but this one fundamentally alters the back country usefulness of the product.

I thought I was ordering the new Altra 5's since the all weather came out just ahead of them. The midfoot is fantastic and the fit is great, but what I found with the all weather was that when striding forward the way the material comes together it pinches my big toe. Planning for a lot of miles on the AT, I did not think this would work for me, and I have returned them to swap out for the 5's.

Best waterproof running shoe I have found, keeps my feet dry and not too hot. The fit is true to size and the shoe is super comfortable.

I run ~2,000 miles a year, so I go through a lot of shoes. Almost all of my miles are on trails. I live in western Massachusetts, which is a lot wetter than out west. I usually run in Lone Peaks, but switched over to LP RSM when I moved here. Inevitably I have to deal with brands "enhancing" their footwear with new versions; seems to be happening on shorter cycles now. When the new Lone Peak All-WTHR came out it looked pretty different from the LP 4 RSM, so I stocked up on a few pairs of the LP 4 RSM that I could find in 10.5. Well those are all worn out now, so I've had to give the new All-WTHR a try.
Two things I did not realize until I took these out of the box. 1) The upper eyelet that I usually lace through to keep my foot locked back is gone. 2) No more gaiter traps.
Despite the lack of the upper eyelet, so far I find that my foot feels locked to the heel and doesn't creep up to the front of the shoe, even on descents. So no worries there.
I also run in RSM exclusively all winter long, and have paired them with the Altra 4 point gaiters (which are discontinued). This setup worked good for keeping snow out. I am not sure what I will do this winter with the lack of gaiter system on the All-WTHRs, maybe pickup a gaiter like the Ultimate Direction ones I have seen before.
Despite my somewhat grumpy tone so far in this review, I am overall very happy with these shoes. So far my impression of them is they have a good balance of rigidity and cushion. The craftsmanship of the shoe is among the highest quality I have seen from Altra so far. I have also logged miles in the Lone Peak 5 and I find the All-WTHR to be a superior shoe, it's not just the same shoe with waterproof materials. The All-WTHR has a more substantial feel to them, more rigid outsole, which comes at the cost of weight but I don't mind it. The LP 5 feels like an Escalante, but the LP All-WTHR feels more like a Torin.
I recommend this shoe for trail runners that live in wet climates.

Love these Altra trail shoes, this is one of the very few brands which comes in foot shape, very comfortable and has good cushion.
One of the things I would suggest to improve is quality of shoe collar, it worn out with in 6 months of buying the shoes

Rugged shoe with a strong grippy sole, yet very comfortable for trail runs or long hikes.

I really liked the look and most of the fit of the Altra Lone Peak All-Wthr Low and really wanted them to work, but after wearing them around the house for a day or two I quickly realized they weren't going to make the cut. My feet seem to fall between wide and normal width on most shoes so if I find the right Altra's, they are perfect. These were snug around the ball of my foot and did not have any give after wearing them indoors for a day or two. They are too expensive to keep and hope they would stretch and I'm not willing to possibly contribute to foot issues in hopes of them stretching, so back they go. Altra's are the closest shoes to being comfortable on my feet but they are hit and miss on which styles will work in the width department. Hopefully I can find a good replacement for my last shoes.

I use these for hiking. These shoes are a bit of disappointment compared to Lone Peak 4 RSM.
They are smaller - Lone Peak 5 10.5 feels like Lone Peak 4 10.0 and feel much narrower.
Also, there is a seam inside right on the middle of the heel. That is the worst place to put a seam in a shoe.
I hope they will be more durable than LP4 RSM which developed cracks on the creases in eVent layer within few weeks.
Why does every company have to replace old working designs every season?

I purchased these at the recommendation of a friend. As a baseline comparison, I have owned many similar styles from other brands - Salomon, Merrell, Hoka, Saucony, Brooks. After 7 mos. of light hiking/walking the dog/wearing around the office, here's my review:
Pros:
- Lightweight
- Wide toe box for my wide foot
- Soft, grippy outsole
Cons:
- Out of the box not waterproof, walking through wet grass allows water ingress
- The TPU hotmelt design across the toe box has worn through the upper and waterproof layer
I submitted a 300-500 mile warranty claim and was told this is 'normal' wear and tear.
I'd consider another pair had it not been for my customer service experience and the soft response that this is 'normal' wear and tear. A design feature that causes this type of wear is not 'normal' and the fault of the user.
And on top of all that, this same issue is reported by numerous other reviewers!
Can't get behind a company that can't get behind it's customers.

Both shoes developed a hole in the cloth material near the toe box after just 2 months of normal wear, see pictures. I submitted a claim for the 300-500 mile warranty but it was rejected. Altra claimed it was normal wear and tear and not considered a material defect.
If Altra believes their shoes should only last 2 months I would not recommend buying Altra shoes. I know I will never buy another pair of Altra shoes.

Very first lace up out of the box and it broke. I've bought lone peaks for a few years now and never had this.

I walk my dog every morning through the park and wet grass areas along with hiking trails that have longer grass and/or weather conditions. I have had no trouble with water break through. My feet are is dry as a bone with the comfort of a tennis shoe. I would highly recommend this shoot anybody looking for a multi versus shoe that not only is stylish, but does the job that it has been put out to do

Wide enough in the toe box, standard width in the heel. I wear these with thick socks for walking in the winter, so the extra room keeps my feet warm. Best that I have found.

The wide toe box gives you plenty of room for your toes while the heel and ankle are firmly supported.

I now have both this low and the mid Lone Peak All weathers and can't decide which I like better. Took them both for ten days hiking at Zion and Joshua Tree and used both. These lows were light and comfortable for any trail, but since I had them with me, used the mid height Lone Peaks for days with lots of higher water crossings or heavy rock filled steep trails. Both were great with firm footing on jagged rocks but soft cushioning and kept my feet happy all day. No uncomfortable sense of wearing a waterproof shoe. Which one you choose just depends on your preference.

I've sold shoes for about 15 years. I've had access to some of the world's best footwear. I love my Lone Peaks (4 & 5)
I plan on buying 5 more pairs for my PCT this coming year.
I do wish the Olympus were a little wider. I'd buy that too if it came in a wide width.
Keep up the great work.

Best shoes I have found for my feet which have nerve pain from sciatica. Love the padding level, low heel, and toe box. Major omission to not include the gator traps. Please put them back.

This is my second pair and yes I would buy them again. Waterproof and a great running shoe when the trail disappears. Only thing I would change is put some gates on them so you have that option as well. Good shoe

This shoe has been such a pleasure to hike in. They are incredibly comfortable. Good tread support. Not a supper tight fit at the sides of ankles when cinched up where a typical low hiking shoe Might have more but this didn’t end up being a problem with a large bottom sole to land on. My new favorite hiker
