I like this shoe, except the laces. I was so happy that Altra made an all weather shoe. I have recently transitioned to zero drop shoes, and I was missing shoes that kept my feet dry when running in the rain. My one drawback is the laces. This is the first pair of Altra shoes that I own that have untied during runs.

I've needed a waterproof style shoe and have nothing but Altras now. I was wearing Adidas swift gtr2's, but long days the heels kill my back. So bought these and they've been perfect, except the laces. They keep coming undone.. so I've had to double knot them to keep them in place. This shoe would be even better if it had a BOA type system ratcheting system. Stoked otherwise to see a waterproof shoe back in Altra's lineup!!

They say original foot shape for these, but they feel way narrower. Toes cramped. I put them against my old regular Lone Peaks, sole to sole, and they truly are narrower, by about 1/4 inch. Also shorter by the same measure. Same size on the label, not same size in fact. They're also quite stiff.

Toe bed is not as wide as it used to be. I buy Altra because of the wide toe bed, as do most people who buy your shoe. Quit trying to change it. It works because it works, corporate only wants to be richer. Do what you do best and corporate can do what they do (whine).

Nice shoes, I love the fit and feel but why oh why are there no gater traps like on the regular Lone Peaks and all the Lone Peaks and Lone Peak RSMs I've been buying for years? Streams, rain and mud don't mean no pebbles, sand and other debris. 5 stars if there were still gater traps on these.

First, I wish these had the gaiter attachment features. Next, it does feel narrow at first and breaking these in takes a while. I assume this is because the waterproof liner takes away elasticity. I do worry about the way the toes crease. Seems like it wasn't well designed as it will be a problem area over time.

Wanted a waterproof version of the lone peaks that I love, but the liner makes the shoe fit tight and made my feet ache after short hikes. The heel cup is especially stiff and tight compared with normal lone peaks.

I wanted to like this shoe. It is waterproof, and lighter than the Lone Peak 4 RSM. However, it doesn't have the additional eyelet at the top, and when laced-up, is not very snug. At least, I can't lace these so my feet are secure when running through a forest or muddy terrain. Additionally, that little bit of looseness at the top makes it easier for mud and debris to get into the shoe, and this model of the Lone Peak also isn't compatible with Altra's gaiters, which compounds the issue. Isn't it strange that the "all-weather" version can't be worn with gaiters? Likely, I will just use this shoe as a casual sneaker on rainy days, with an umbrella.

The shoe is narrower than the lone peak 5 and I did not find it size true to fit because of it being narrower than its predecessor.
I'd also recommend:
I love Altra shoes just disappointed in the width, will try other Altra shoes.

I am on my 4th pair , Timps (3) and all weather Lone Peaks (1) , went through 2 pairs on the Appalachian Trail and 2 pairs of Merrill Moabs which are a bit heavier but grip much better ? I wish they had a pair with Vibram Soles .

The toe box on is great. It is wide and does not put pressure on toes when going down hill. However, the foot bed is very thin and the tread is only good enough for smooth flat trails. I replaced the insole with the same orthotic insole I use in other hiking shoes. Usually between the insole and the base of the shoe, I do not feel any pressure from the terrain on my foot. In the Altra, I feel gravel and rocks right through the footbed. I have fallen way too many times in these shoes when going down hill. The tread does not provide enough grip to keep your feet from sliding. I have not had this issue with other hiking shoes. I love the concept of the shape of the shoe, but for safety and comfort I will be retuning them. Please make this shoe with more cushion and grip!

I've been a fan of Escalante 2's for sometime, decided to try these for something waterproof and off-road / bad road ready. Nice and light shoes. The fit is GOOD, not great - in my case I'm lacing tightly. Otherwise, my toes hit the toebox on downhills or I get a little heel slip (no 2nd eyehole on these). They feel more narrow to me from the midfoot back, but they have a similarly generous toe box (except you may feel some pressure on the tops of the toes,) but overall they are bearable. Better fit than my old Solomon shoes overall, but I miss the kevlar tuck-away laces. I stood in a lake until the toe box was submerged, and didn't get wet, so the waterproofing seems legit despite what others have said. Time will tell if they last, which would make these up to a 4 star product. But to be a 5 star product, for me, Altra needs to get the fit right (wider overall), eliminate the weird "click" sound they make when you bend the toe box, and maybe upgrade the ruggedness of the outsole a little? Not sure I would hike in these (I know they are trail runners), but I was literally looking for more of an all weather shoe / hiker rather than a runner, though I'll likely run these in the winter or on a few trails from time to time. Despite the somewhat negative review, I really like these overall, and many other shoes were far worse options, unavailable in my size, or not a zero drop, which has made me a much better, happier runner!

These shoes aren't bad; but the pair I had came with a manufacturing defect that caused one shoe to have an uncomfortable piece and it squeeked when walking. I like Altra's running shoes but this didn't feel right. Something about the materials uses for this model were not good!

These shoes are way too narrow unlike most Altras(i have six pairs) and my feet are extremely narrow. I was really hoping these would be comfortable but I got blisters. I am sure they are good for most but they did my feet no justice.

Had the Lone Peak 4 RSM (Rain Snow Mud) which was "waterproof" (as much as a shoe can be I guess without it being a rain boot) so was looking forward to the Lone Peak 5. It feels a bit more cushion-y in the midfoot as compared to my Lone Peak 4 (which I still wear but its outsole is getting worn out - casual use only now). However the biggest downside is that the All Weather version for some reason no longer has the gaiter loop at the beginning of the laces and the "gaiter trap" at the bottom of the outside heel (Velcro spot). The normal Lone Peak 5s have this feature, and it's a must-have for my Dirty Girl gaiters on the trail.

I have rocked lone peaks for many years. I love them but this all weather line peak destroys my feet and ankles. They are way too narrow and do not feel the same as the zero drop line peaks 4.5 etc. I feel like the ankle is higher and I keep rolling my ankle on technical terrain in these shoes. I wish the regular lone peaks came with the water proof technology. Not sure why the whole shoe design has to change.

I wore the Timp 1.5 for years - I had 6 pairs in a row. When this was retired I looked to this shoe to replace it. It's a great shoe, but has a totally different shape (despite looking basically the same in pictures), and fits more like a true hiking sneaker. I use the shoes for everyday wear. So while this shoe will be great for someone looking for a great Altra hiking shoe, it is sadly not a Timp replacement. I am left waiting for Altra to come up with another simple, decent looking, everyday shoe.

Have multiple Lone Peak 4 through 7s. I wear a size 10 in all of them. But not this one! This feels at least half but more likely a full size too small (less room in the toe than even an old pair of LP size 9.5 I happen to own). How much more narrow it is, I can't really say since it's not going to feel right in width if the length is off. No, it's not that the waterproofing makes for a more snug fit. Comparing it side-by-side to another Lone Peak shoe, it's measurably shorter. Bought these from another retailer in my usual size. Now have to deal with the hassle and cost of return shipping. I don't know what my actual size in these should be and I'm not going to waste more time finding out. The company overall seems to be drifting out of touch with the customers. That's a shame.

I wanted to like these because I love the regular Lone Peaks. However, the waterproof lining folds over on the outside of the foot during each step and makes an annoying "pop" each time the toe bends. It feels like somebody flicking your foot lightly and makes an audible sound. It doesn't seem to go away with wear. I tried two different pairs and they both did it. I also found this shoe fits 1/2 size smaller than the normal Lone Peaks.

Very tight, the toe box on this shoe was much too narrow for my feet. On the flip side, the return process was quick and easy.

No extra shoelace hole to tie your shoelaces to prevent your foot from sliding forward and no gator trap make for a bad trail shoe. I've been wearing altras for almost 10 years and the current version of the all-weather loan peak (& olympus) make me think it's time for a new brand. Love the wide toe box, but I don't like my foot sliding forward (& the missing toenails) or my ankle being rubbed raw from the unreasonably high back of the Olympus. Go back to an older version

I wanted to love these shoes, but they didn't love me. The toe box was too narrow and the shape was odd. Having had two pairs of Lone Peak RSM high tops, I mistakenly surmised this model would be similar. Wrong.

I really hate leaving reviews period, let alone a bad one, but I hope Altra changes this shoe quickly. Getting rid of the gaiter trap so gaiters no longer attach with this shoe and removing 2 eyelet holes for laces, which doesn't give the shoe the support when running on steep trails, no longer makes this a good trail shoe. I run several marathons a year and spend most of my weekends hiking the Catskills and Adirondacks. I've been buying 4-6 pair total a year (same for my fiancee) between the RSM version and the summer version. This shoe doesn't seem like Altra tried this time, please go back to previous versions; preferably with the 4 point gaiter trap.
