This is a beautiful shoe, but too narrow! I tried to stretch out but it was impossible to wear more than 30 seconds. Length seemed ok but width was disproportionate. I've worn Merrells for over 15 years but the last few pairs have been far too small.

I'm new to the barefoot shoes universe, but I bought the Vapor Glove 5 and saw a huge difference between the two models. I prefer, by far, the Vapour Glove 5. This V6 is way more structured, the sole is stiff and the sole as a very strong arch in the middle. Upon trying them, since I have a long narrow foot with a high foot arch, I thought these shoes were comfortable and perfect. However, after testing them in my hallway, I quickly realized the strong padded arch was disturbing me. I don't know if it would eventually get padded down over time and after a lot of wear, but seeing how I loved the Vapour Glove 5, I didn't want to try and find out. I returned this item.

Foot is highly constrained- needs more room- shoe needs more height

Bought for my kid based on their loving my older version of this shoe. This is NOT the same shoe! At first glance they are much narrower (luckily for us as we have thin feet)!
The lacing mechanism seems great at first glance, looks like it will be snug across the entire midfoot, but the way the tongue is sewed to the shoe half way up prevents it from opening to get your foot through. Toes are the widest part of your foot & this design doesn't allow for them to slide past into the toebox!
Not sure how this design flaw got through into production, but shoes need to let your foot in!
Side note, I'm saddened by the decline in Merrell's barefoot shoes as a whole. The current Vapor Glove being the worst of them all.

Way to narrow. I have been wearing Merrell Trail runners for years and these are not the same.

The sizing is radically off from previous versions and seems to be the opposite of what is recommended in the item description. My pair of TG3s is finally wearing out and I ordered the same size in these to allow for a bit more room. The increased arch support makes the shoe feel far more narrow, almost painfully so, and the toe box feels cramped and narrow compared to previous versions. They look great and the quality is solid.

I loved how comfortable these shoes were. They molded perfectly to my feet, and I would have worn them everyday. I originally purchased to wear on a hiking/safari trip through Africa, and they would have been perfect. I sent them back because the toe of the shoe was so rounded, it looked like a toddler shoe. Overall, it made my feet look shapeless, more like flippers. Comfort is necessary, but it doesn't have to be ugly. Also, order 1/2 size larger than your usual.

Ugh. The sole is extremely stiff. I know it said extra protection from rocks but I didn't expect such a stiff sole. I'm used to the softer soles of Altras where you can feel the ground a bit better. Had difficulty getting my foot in but after I got them on they felt fairly true to size length wise although not as wide as I'd have liked for minimalist shoes. Other reviews said they had a wide toe box but I did not find this to be true compared to the Altras or other minimalist brands. Although there is not a removable insole, it does have minimal toe spring which I like. What drew me to them was they are black and some minimalist brands insist on crazy colors. They might work for you but did not for me so they are going back. I ordered from Zappos precisely because returns are so very easy so thank you very much Zappos!
I'd also recommend:

I love my previous versions of this show but the 6th version has more of an arch and runs bigger. I wish they would go back to a true barefoot design and integrate it into some of their boots.

These aren't really a barefoot shoe. They've got arch lifting and the toe box is quite small. For anyone who is looking out for foot strength long-term, this isn't the shoe for you. Don't believe the barefoot label.

These are much smaller than I thought they'd be even though they stated to purchase a size larger than normal.

These shoes are not a true barefoot shoe. They have arch support, are not wide enough to allow for foot splay, although the heel cup seems wide and don't feel as comfortable as Merrell shoes previously. That being said, the style is cute and the souls grip wonderfully.

Great shoe, a little more stiff and "normal" then previous barefoot model. It feels more flat but the outer sole is thick and so far the biggest change on the shoe.
I can praise more support in the muddy/rough terrain due to the studs-like style on the outer sole. How ever I did noticed similar 3 section design as was previously on the bare access model.
Also, I have a similar experience - it is excellent for performance but terrible for durability. The previous generation has sole in one piece and it lasted until now, like 4 years.
This sole has already begun to tear from the tip after 2 months of very moderate usage. Not to mention that I did not used it yet for more intense training outdoors like the previous one that was invulnerable.

Not a soft pair of shoes. The material is hard and stiff. I have often used Merrell's zero drop shoes and they were always soft.

The back of the shoe really gapped and the front bent in a weird place when I walked. did not fit like any other Merrells I have had before, and I've had a lot.

These are so cute, but I have a wide foot so would not recommend them for anyone who doesn't have a narrow foot. I am in the process of stretching them which is making them some better. I did read many reviews and no one mentioned not to get them if you have a wide foot. I was a nurse for 43 years and loved how comfortable there shoes were, but not these.

I have a pair of Trail Glove 4 I got in 2019. They are SO COMFY!!! I wanted to get another pair, but the new ones, same size, are narrower. I compared them to old ones. Not as wide. I'm hoping they will break in. I have B width foot. My regular hikers are Merrell and I LOVE THEM!!! I wore out an old pair. The new ones are great! They went to AK, Glacier, Yellowstone and all over CO.

I have many pairs of Merrell sneakers and these are the first not true to size. They run small and are hard to get in to without unlacing halfway.

This is the 4th generation of Trail Glove that I've owned. I've loved all the others but am not a fan of the overall design of these. It has a very high arch and is tight across the top even after several wears.

I really wanted to love these shoes. And I still love the concept. However, they are just insanely narrow. I have narrow feet already but these were still too narrow. They were almost hard to get on even with the laces completely loosened. Also, I realize that they are not designed to have much arch support but what they do have is sort of funky.
On the plus side, they are so light and reactive. You are connected to the terrain which is pretty fun.

Width too narrow. After the explanation from your representative, I learned that the sneaker is worn without a sock.

I sure miss your soft so flexible Merrills that you no longer carry. I thought this one would be okay to use but I have a issue with falling and when the souls are too rigid I end up falling and by the end of the day these shoes tend to hurt me on my Souls. But I'll keep wearing them but not to walk in the park anymore. I'm afraid I'm going to fall.

The arch support is a bit uncomfortable for me. The look is not as great as bare access ultra. These models keep getting more disappointing by the year.

I should have paid attention to the description that these are great for those just transitioning to minimalist shoes. I have been wearing Merrel's barefoot shoes for a couple years. These were much cuter. Well, I can't wear them, they are definitely not minimalist. High arch, stiffer sole support. Kill my feet. They are cute, that's all the good I can say about them. Really should not be calling them minimalist, as they are definitely not.
