I have been buying Merrell hiking shoes for almost 20 years. I have always been a size 9. I read some reviews said they shoe was small get a size larger. I got a 9.5 figuring i would be good. The shoes arrived and I can't even get my foot half way into the shoe. I was going to at least leave a 3 star review until I found that Merrell blocked my ability to POST my review unless I first disabled my ad blockers. I was going to reorder in the correct size now I will just return and not buy another Merrell.

Had a pair of trail glove fives. Some of the best most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. The trail glove five was wonderful for just loafer in around town or just about anything outside you could imagine. Try the new and drastically unimproved trail gloves six. Someone at Merrill had an aneurysm when they came up with this idea it fits looks and feels like wearing a loafer. The feel is comparable to a uncomfortable boat shoe. The design is that of an office loafer nowhere near comparable to the original trail glove five. For a shoe that is meant to be a barefoot shoe this is the most uncomfortable thing I could imagine. I am a long-time Merrell customer with over 90% of the shoes I own coming from Merrell. This summer I will attempt to find a better replacement preferably a barefoot shoe that actually fits comfortably and doesn't look like a half thought idea. I am a very disappointed customer in this product.

I tried these on in the store and loved them. First time I wore them out for more than 20 min, they began to pinch the sides of my foot at the toe box. After an hour, I was in actual pain from the bones of my feet being pushed together. I don't have wide feet and have worn trail gloves and vapor gloves before. Something is wrong with this design. Be sure to spend time in them before committing.

There are certainly *some* favorable review of this shoe (as well as the TG5) and I don't fault those wearers for it (how could I?) but they have had and still have DOZENS of more traditional, narrow, arched shoes with questionable/numb ground feel to choose from. The TRAIL GLOVE line was one of the few places a runner could turn for an affordable, minimal arch, excellent ground-feel, wide-toeboxed trail shoe with great grip. Now the TG option is GONE for us... now for two model versions (5 and now 6) and it's a frustrating shame.

I agree with others, the arches are too high and too narrow for a barefoot shoe. Merrell has made a nice shoe here but the changes has taken it out of the barefoot category they put it in. I hope Merrell reads these reviews because I really want to like this shoe. I give this shoe one star because it does not belong in the barefoot category the way it is now. If I was looking for these features in a different category the rating would go up.
Once you walk in a true barefoot shoe and give your feet enough time to adjust and strengthen you will understand.

Having dealt with foot issues and orthotics for the majority of my adolescence, the TG2 changed my life and the way I look at footwear. This became my every day walking, running, hiking, camping, everything shoe and I've owned multiple of the various iterations thereafter. The TG5 was a drastic departure, I couldn't deal with the intrusive arch support, and the TG6 doubles down on this. Merrell you had a classic shoe with a cult like following, listen to your customers.

This is simply not a barefoot shoe with built up arch support. Revert back to the prior designs.
This is an incredibly uncomfortable shoe because of this. The toe box is more narrow as well.

I really purchased the shoes expecting those so be very comfortable. However, I was very surprised since the shoes are not what I expected. Those are not easy to put on despite my size which is 8.5M runs a little bigger than my feet, but it has been always my size no matter what brand of shoe I purchase. The materials of the shoe are not soft, they feel rigid.

The arch support at the middle/inside of your foot is excessive. Even when sitting without your feet on the ground, the arch is trying to force your foot to an unnatural position making your foot ache. I read previous reviews and just thought this complaint was from people coming from previous versions... I am new to this shoe and it is just uncomfortable.

Try it on first, the shoe is made way to small, these shoe are NOT standard sizes. Ordered online and had to return. It was just painful

I am so disappointed in this purchase. The arch "support" is so obtrusive. I thought after trying them on that the shoes needed to break in. I went out for a typical run but the uncomfortable high arch and narrow toe box make these unusable. Buyers beware!

Am I missing something? Is the weight of the shoe not important? Your competitors provide weight....why not you?

Arch support and not barefoot. What is Merrell thinking. I had the trail glove 2 and it was great. 3, less so. And it's just been downhill since then.

The 4 was perfect. The 5 was so uncomfortable, I returned it. Arch support painful, length 1/2 size bigger than the 4s (why??). The 6 is no 4. Make us happy -- return to the 4s!!

You won't need a workout after putting these on. The internal arch straps prevent you being able to lift the tongue enough to slip your foot in.

I loved the Trail Glove 4, and the Trail Glove 5 suited me as well. Not quite as good, but own 2 pair. These? They don't even come close. Returning them.

So I love merrell shoes. From where I sit I can look and see 6 pairs of them. But for these trail gloves, what happened to the colors? These are just ugly.

Hi, I had the trail gloves 3, and they were the best trail shoes I could ever dream up.
I ran them to their absolute last km, and then bought these, assuming they could only be better.
But I was so wrong.
These have arch support!!! Why?? These should be barefoot, and no arch support is a huge part of that! And generally, they absolutely do not feel barefoot.
As a strict minimalist runner with no patience for anything but barefoot shoes, these are unusable to me.
