The original Trail Glove was the best shoe Merrell made, but by this 6th evolution, it's morphed into a completely different shoe. Gone is the original feeling of wearing almost nothing on your foot. The originals felt like arch support was directly controlled by how tight I pulled the laces. Now it's simply a foam wedge, and the laces keep the shoe on your foot. Padding and some rigidity have been added to the tongue and back of the heel, respectively. This adds a potential hot spot at the back of the heel, instead of a soft upper heel, again controlled by how tight I tied my shoes. Another thing I've noticed, and you can see it in the pics, is that after the first version it seems like Merrell changed it's sizes. I've owned the 1st gen, 5th gen (worse than 6), and now the 6th, and either my original in 10.5 is a mis-marked 10, or my newer versions are a "larger" 10.5. Merrell, please bring back the original (or maybe reintroduce it as a 'new' model?)

I'll just never understand why Merrell has decided to redesign a great shoe. The Trail Glove 6 is unrecognizable as a barefoot shoe. I am primarily disappointed that Merrell narrowed the toe box. Looks like I'll have to learn to love Altras the way I loved my numerous pair of Merrell over the last 10 years.

I finally managed to wear out my old trail glove 4's. Bought these to try on and couldn't believe it. Way too much arch support and they completely changed the last it's built on. There are plenty of other barefoot shoe companies now that I will switch over to, as well as my regular hiking boots. Merrell's new motto is "If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is"

The high arch on this shoe was really unbearable and immediately returned. Went back and just ordered some vapor glove 4s that are amazing.

Bring back the trail glove 4 in all forms, e-mesh, knit and vapor. This was your best shoe. Hence the reason you can't find them anywhere. I can find every other version of show you make except the trail glove 4 that should tell you something.

I have been wearing the trail glove since the first version. I am unsure if I will purchase the trail glove ever again. The trail glove 4 was my favorite, the one piece tongue was so secure and comfy. This shoe is so uncomfortable, I have no idea what merrell is doing these days.

Merrell turned away from it's fantastic barefoot design with the 5, and EVERYONE hated it. So why they decide to screw up the trail glove line even more is baffling to me.

The 4 was the last great shoe in the trail glove lineage. The 5 was terrible and this is even worse. Shame on Merrell.

I am so dissapointed. Once again with arch support like the Trail Glove 5. I gonna buy up Trail Glove 4 and wait for Merrell to get back to what made the Trail Gloves great. Or change company if I must. Nice colours though

I agree with those that give the Trail Glove 6 one star for lacking true barefoot design. I still wear my 4s because they're still holding up. My 5s were not as comfortable or durable with the sides blowing out after a couple of months. I won't even consider buying the 6. Sorry Merrill, going with Xero this time.

Sorry but is this a joke ? You guys and gals at merrell made the best minimalist trail shoes Trail gloves 3s and 4s are amazing, fix the issue with the upper and make it more durable and you have a new shoe that will sell like crazy. Why make this oversupported shoe ? This is not barefoot and not minimalist. Go back to the roots or its vivo for me.

The Trail Glove was an amazing shoe until the Trail Glove 5. At that point the shoe was no longer true to its stated design ethos, no longer minimalist nor barefoot focused. I tried the 6 to see if Merrill had listened to the overwhelming feedback online, but alas, the 6 was an even greater departure from previous, great models (1-4). Cons - too much arch support, too high stack height, too much shoe padding, too narrow. Pros - interesting colors, I suppose.

Just received, it's my third Merrill and now I'm a convert for sure. They're feather-light (8 oz), roomy but snug. One pre-purchase negative review targeted too-high arch support; for me that's a plus. Indeed, it's the highest arch support I've ever had in a sneaker, and now I won't need orthotics. Toe box looks like it's low, but there's plenty of room up front. Unique lacing pattern ties the tongue to the lacing loops: odd, but it makes the fit more individualized. Tread pattern seems helpfully aggressive. I anticipate a long life from them.

Instantly my feet know the wonderful feeling of the cozy confines of a Merrell. They fit well. Very pleased with their look and feel.

Very comfortable while hiking on trails over rocks and roots. Fit was true to size. Also were worn while walking around Boston for a couple of days. I have 4 Merrell hiking boots and 2 pair of slip on moccasins.

I'm a 73 year old guy who does a daily half hour street/sidewalk walk at a 17 minute per mile pace . I used up all the tread on my last pair of Merrells and had no question that I would replace them with the same high quality hikers. They protect my feet and give me the traction I need for the occasional slippery mornings. I think they're great.

Great shoe. Could use a half size bigger, maybe. 1st time out hiked 2 hours at the Cincinnati Nature Center. I put PowerStep Hiking Insole in for better support.

My son bought my wife and I Merrells for an Alsaka trip. After several hundred miles of hiking and over a year of remodeling work I found them to be the best and most comfortable I ever had
