My vapor gloves developed a defect and they seem to be unavailable. The trail glove was the only comparable shoe so I opted to try them out. They are not a minimalist shoe. Not even close. They have a heel stack, arch support and a thick sole. How these have glove in the name and arent just sold as a traditional running shoe is beyond me.

They sole is too thick to be called "barefoot". The fit is extremely narrow. The older designs were the best for barefoot trail running. These have lost their way and should not be called trail glove or barefoot. The fit crushes my toes and I don't have crazy wide feet. Are they trying to mimic Italian cycling shoes? Please Merrell; make a thin soled, zero rise, trail running shoe with room in the toe box for your toes to spread out. If you need a blueprint, dig out a trail glove 3 or 4.

I have hiked in the Trail Glove series since TG1. Each iteration has been an improvement up to TG4. Even the addition of arch support in TG5 was a positive for me. But this version TG6 is a totally different beast. Not comfortable at all. Difficult to get on, tight overall, narrow, just weirdly shaped. Here's hoping that TG7 "regresses" to the foundation that the trail glove series was built on.

Not a fan of the new model. Uncomfortable and looks funny with them on. Too high of an arch on this model and the toe is too skinny. The older models were soooo much better.

I ran the Trail glove 4's prior to this. It was more of a minimal shoe. This one has a more narrow toe box, arch support and it seems like there is a raised heal. Not a minimalist shoe. I used them for 1 run and it horrible. I will be returning them immediately. The really harsh part is the arch support beating up your feet. Really disappointed with Merrell with this iteration. Hopefully they fix them in the future.

I LOVED the Trail Glove 4. I bought 5 or 6 pairs over the years and they are the best shoes I have worn in my 60+ years of active exercise - running, walking, cycling. When I couldn't get the 4's I switched to the 5's. Not as good but still a very good shoe. Why, why, why did Merrell change the style and make a shoe that is much more narrow and just not a comfortable shoe, doesn't look good either. Trail Glove 4 was the best ever.

Shoe is extremely narrow. Other Barefoot shoe I have - same size - fits perfectly. I couldn't even get this shoe on because it was so narrow.

The last generation was so much better than this. Too much arch support and it got narrower. WHY.

I've had the Trail Glove 4 for a couple of years and it was my go-to pain. The new version is very, very different. Extremely, extremely narrow. Check the Amazon reviews as well and you will find confirmation that Merrill has ruined this model of shoe.

I have owned 5 or 6 trailgloves over the last 10 years. My wife now enjoys her merrells and my son also has a pair he loves. This new style is very different from the previous 5 styles. Please bring the old style. I am very disappointed in this change from a shoe I love. Thank you

I bought a pair a few days ago. Very comfortable. Unfortunately, the second time I wore them one of the cloth eyelets ripped right out while I was just snugging up the strings. I don't know why shoe companies make them this way. Seems like the older style was much more durable. Sadly I'll be returning these shoes and buying something else.

I've been devoted to the trail glove for years and need to replace my current pair. I tried these on in the store and with the sort of upper overlap instead of a proper tongue it is difficult to snug the laces comfortably.

I have always worn and loved the Trail Glove shoes. But the fit of this redesign leaves much to be desired.

I do not understand how you can take A shoe this good and turn it in to the opposite of what the community enjoyed. Make A new product line then. To shallow in the toes, to much support and stiff sole. I have owned 5 pair of trail gloves ranging from v.2-4 but this will be my last pair. Also I use to recommend these to all my friends, no more.

As an avid fan of the trail glove 5 I purchased the trail glove 6 expecting great things. How wrong was I, very! The huge arches feel like you're standing on someones fist inside, not comfortable at all and how that is a "barefoot design" is beyond me. The toe end is narrower, squashing the toes into a narrow channel, this may suit some feet but definitely not mine. Time to get back to the best designed trail runners ever to hit the market, the Trail Runner 5

I have owned nearly every trail glove since the beginning. When one wears out I buy the next one. These will probably be the last ones for me. The tread falls apart almost immediately after purchase, the store I purchased them from replaced the first pair no charge but then the second pair is already falling apart again. I should have taken their offer of store credit and gone with a different shoe/brand.

After 2 months of use the vibram soles are peeling apart in several places on both shoes. Very disappointing since the sole usually outlasts the rest of the shoe. Also, way too much arch support

The trail glove 5 is a superior design to the 6. Unfortunately, the 6 is way too narrow with high arches that feel like they defeat the purpose of having a barefoot style shoe.

Merrell's slogan: We used to make a good shoe years ago, but now manage to make it worse each year. The tongue is held in place by some stretchy material that wrinkles or rolls up as you insert your foot. After that you have the added discomfort of a painfully high arch and two strange lines that are felt across the arch. The toe box is now also more narrow. I had to share this experience with my wife and as she put on the shoe she remarked "wow, this is horrible!" It is hard to make a worse shoe. Many people that wear older models say the same thing. "Merrell used to make good shoes, but they just get worse every year." Please remake the early models. Trail Glove 3 was great for me, but the earlier versions might have been better. Let me know when you do and I'll buy 20 pairs.

These shoes are very narrow compared to older trail gloves, and the arch support is incredibly high. When standing in a neutral position, it is difficult for me to have both my heel and ball of my foot making contact with the ground because the arch is so high. I've owned 3 earlier iterations of trail gloves, and am sad to see where this line is going. They are unwearable for me.

The Trail Glove 5 are super comfortable with no break in period reqired. The TG 5 have plenty of support and room for the toes so I expected the same from the TG 6. While the TG 6 are great in every other aspect, the toe box is noticibly smaller squashing the smaller toes together. If you are used to conventional restrictive shoes you probably won't notice this at all, but if you only wear minimalist/barefoot shoes you will be itching to pull them off after a short while.

I own the vapor glove 4 and the trail glove 5. I bought these because I wore out my trail gloves. I would not buy these shoes again if I wanted a barefoot shoe. They are very comfortable as trail runners, but they are NOT barefoot shoes. As a result I cannot recommend these shoes because I feel they are being falsely advertised.

First off I need to state that prior to this most recent purchase Trail Gloves have been my favorite shoes ever. In fact I would go as far as to say that the Trail Glove 4's are one of the best shoes ever made. I have raved about them ad nauseam to many people and got several people to make the switch. I skipped out on the Trail Glove 5's as the 4's were still available and the 5's have an arch support so I was holding out for the 6's to see if they would be more like the 4's. BOY was I wrong. The Trail Glove 6's might be the worst shoe Merrell has ever put out. The 4's had a wrap around tongue that made it both easy to put on and one of the most comfortable shoes ever made. Why did they change this on the 5/6? I will never know. They made perfection with that innovation and then went back to mediocrity, mindboggling. Now lets talk about the MAJOR issue with this shoe, the arch support. This shoe (and the 5 as well) CANNOT be marketed as a barefoot shoe. A barefoot shoe doesn't have an arch support as it is supposed to mimic your natural foot movements and, importantly, allows you to feel the ground. There is no ground feel as the shoe has now become too rigid and it feels like a rock in the middle of your foot. The arch support has also reduced the flexibility of the shoe overall which is sad because that is what made the Trail Gloves so appealing in the first place. I have put countless miles on my Trail Gloves over terrain as varied as the Rocky's, to the Ozarks, to everyday in the city, and my feet always felt great no matter what I was doing or for how long. I can't walk for more than 10 minutes in these monstrosity's without major foot pain on account of that ridiculous arch. BAREFOOT SHOES DO NOT NEED ARCH SUPPORTS!!! How hard is that to understand? Bring back the wraparound tongue and get rid of that terrible arch and I'll be back. Way to go from being one of the best shoe company's out there to subpar trash in one fell swoop. I will be returning these shoes and looking elsewhere for the foreseeable future until Merrell decides to make another Trail Glove 4. If they don't chose to listen to the complaints of their base customers (especially after 2 shoes now) that's fine, no sweat off my back, I just won't be recommending them to anyone anymore and will let my money talk by taking my business elsewhere. Incredibly disappointed.

The trail glove 4 is the most magnificent shoe ever they finally have been retired to garage shoes because they are falling apart after and obscene about of miles. I bought the 5 because the 4 was no longer being made and they are ok but the 6 is trash and the 5 isn't much better. It's ugly the tread is too knobby the mesh is uncomfortable and worst of all they don't have that magical elastic tongue that the 4 had. I'd gladly pay twice the price for another pair of 4s. I guess I am back on the search for the perfect shoe. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
