What I like: Soft, stable and comfortable. Feels like your feet are protected. Can pick up the pace or use for easy day running. Primarily a daily trainer however could be used for half or marathon race if you want a "non-plated" racer. I've had some concerns with HOKA widths in the past however this shoe fits well. Nice styling.
What I Would Change: Wish it had a little more bounce similar to Endorphin Speed.
Overall: Recommend to buy. I feel like it fits between the Carbon X2 and Rocket X as a trainer. Very pleased with the Mach 4. HOKA has some great shoes available.

I was hoping these would be as good as advertised. I'm not the fastest or most in shape, but I'd love to feel that way.
These shoes did not disappoint. I'm 6',230 lbs and 54 years old with a total knee replacement and these shoes will you to go faster!! It's like they are dictating to you how fast to go. And they want to go FAST!! I highly recommend these!!!

As an uptempo trainer, which the shoe is marketed as, it does that great. For me it's also one of the comfiest easy day shoes I've ever worn. It's that shoe you always want to grab. It's a little bulky/soft for threshold efforts, but again that's not it's purpose. Great long run shoe, keeps you fresh.
I've put in around 100mi in them so far and they are doing well.

Before running in Hoka shoes, I would wake up every morning and hobble around until my left foot, and sometimes my right, loosened up; I've always had flat feet. First day after getting a pair of Arahi 5's and running a tempo 5k my plantar fasciitis was nearly gone. I was amazed so decided to try some other Hoka's because I didn't want to be limited to just stability shoes. The Mach 4's have the same effect and they fit my feet even better; less room in the front. It's only been a month, but I still haven't gotten used to my feet not hurting when I get out of bed. It's either the wide heel or bucket seat but it works wonders. Carbon X 2 might be next.

I was looking for a comfortable sneaker that would help me with getting back into interval running. This is by far super lightweight and a joy to run in. The build quality seems good and they are sharp looking. It's only been a few days but so far so good!

Great feel underfoot, fine-tuned rocker effect and just the perfect upper for me. The slightly wider forefoot is definitely appreciated. Cushion is great for easy or long runs, but it is definitely responsive for a quicker tempo.

I really like this shoe. It does feel lighter and more responsive than the Clifton, but more supportive than the Rincon. So it might replace both of those styles in my repertoire! I am a woman with a slightly wide foot, so I go down 1.5 sizes and buy my Hokas in men's sizing. Works perfectly for me! The blue color of these in the men's is honestly kind of a girl color in my opinion!

I use it for my long runs. Plan to use it on Marathon Day. Its a shoe that could be used for tempo runs. Especially at race pace. Very pleased with the outcome of this shoe.
If i had to make any changes. One would be the fit in the heel. I have to really tighten down the shoe. Maybe more Colors which im sure you will later.
Don't change the tongue. Its perfect wish this feel and design was on the Speedgoat or some similar. The slight extended heel feels great. Adds stability. The cushion is fabulous. Great job!
I run trails about 60% time. Wish youd make a trail shoe like this like if Speedgoat and Mach4 had a baby! evo mach trail lol

I already have trail shoes and road shoes and cycling shoes and street shoes. I don't want to buy three different road running shoes also. My Mach4's feel good/supportive/cushioned under foot for my regular road running training a couple of days a week and they also feel snappy when I'm pushing tempo or faster. First time I took them out my cadence went up over 10 SPM and I give that credit to the energy return, weight and confident feel. I feel good about the Mach 4 as my daily trainer shoe and racing shoe for 5 and 10k's this year (not doing anything longer this year). I will be watching how quickly they wear out very closely, unfortunately. After less than 20 miles it seems the outsole is "fraying" and "scuffing" already in the mid foot strike area. Fingers crossed I can get the entire season from them. I highly recommend this shoe.

Previously ran in the Rincon 2, but really like that these feel a little softer and seem just as fast. The Clifton is a little soft and non-responsive for my taste, so right now these Mach 4 are the ultimate.

If you read professional reviews you'll hear how awesome this shoe is. I'll have to agree. It is fast, light, and comfortable. I will disagree a bit though on cushion. I've heard people say its got more cushion than the Clifton 7 and while I think it has plenty of cushion I do not feel it's more than the clifton. I'm a bigger runner (185lbs) and I would call the shoe more responsive than cushion. I think this is great for picking up the pace and harder training days but it's not the best for slow, long days...simply because I can't maintain a slow pace in these but I also have more cushioned shoes for those. I do think you can do 10Ks up to marathons in these but I think your legs will feel it if you put all your miles on them. If you can't afford the carbon plate options I think these are a top contender for a tempo and race day shoe.

The Mach 4 is my new favorite daily trainer with option for tempo workouts. The upper has a great fit, lockdown and heel lock. The mid, the ProFly is excellent, just enough absorption with energy return. The outsole should last with EVA rubber. Would highly recommend to any Clifton owner.

The uppers are probably the best fitting I've had. I went from the Clifton rerelease to these and I'm really enjoying the fit and ride. Highly recommend, good looking shoe, great response and energy return.

These are the most comfortable and springy shoes I could ask for without going for a carbon plated shoe (the Carbon X2 is a wonderful complement to the Mach 4 for long runs and speed runs). The plush upper and early stage meta rocker are the difference makers here, for sure.

The Mach 4's are comfortable, light, soft (but not too soft) with just the right amount of bounce, and the transitions are buttery smooth. I'm using them as a daily trainer and will be buying another pair just in case Hoka changes them next year.

It has all the great things that I love about the Rincon, the Clifton, and the Carbon X. Finally a shoe that I can wear any day.

Great all around lightweight shoe. Cushioning is sufficient without feeling mushy. I think this does a better job than the Rincon as a lightweight daily trainer or the Clifton as a long run trainer. Best upper on a Hoka shoe. Definitely an improvement over the same tired EVA foam used in many of the Hoka's. Better upper and more versatile than the Rocket X (though the Rocket X is still a faster shoe). Outsole is holding up reasonable well after 100 miles. This is a real winner.
