This would make for a great work shoe if they were steel toed. The material is thick. Bulky style. Lots of rubber on the bottom. Too bulky for walking. Would be great on the hiking trail.

These shoes were quite narrow, especially in the toe box area, considering they are wide. So narrow that my feet hurt too much to continue my walk. I bought them because I wanted a Hoka stability shoe, as I have another Hoka shoe (where width was fine) that just wasn't providing the stability I need. It did feel like a notable difference in stability and I would have loved to keep them if they were a true wide in size.

I love Hoka brand shoes! However, the Gaviota 3 is not an improvement over the Gaviota 2. The 3's are very flimsy. My first pair ripped. The company was great about replacing them. However, the material on the second pair does not feel any sturdier.

I don’t understand the popularity of these shoes. From reviews it seems they would be good for feet that need stability. For me, that hard ridge that runs around the outside of the shoe upper dug into my foot and caused a lot of pain. I could try a side but the heel was already too wide for me. All Hokas have this ridge snd it’s very painful. Too bad because I loved the low heel and rocker bottom. Never again.

I have worn Hoka for years. I love the fit and they feel like you are walking on air. Unfortunately the last two pairs I have gotten the sole separated from the sneaker. This time it happened in the first three weeks of owning the sneakers. Extremely disappointed.

I love Hoka's. It's my 3rd pair. These came and the treads were peeling off on the inside of my right shoe. :( I super glued them down. I wanted to try these for the support on the arch.

I have plantar fasciitis and wear these at work. The support is good and has helped with some of the pain. I had to return the first pair I purchased due to a defect with the sole of my shoe, which Hoka replaced after I sent them back. However the replacement pair has the same issue as the last, so I won't be purchasing again.

Even though these shoes are a Wide, they are too narrow for my feet. I tried a Medium width as well and they both have the same size sole and do not feel any different on my feet. Also, the pair I received was damaged, with a small tear at one of the shoelace eyelets. I am returning them. This style of Hoka is supposed to be one of their two stability shoes, but neither one of them offer enough pronation support that I need, and not nearly as much as some other brands.

Hoka changed the Gaviota. The width in the toes pinches in the size I have been wearing for years. I am returning and I bought wide to replace them. Since Zappos is out of the wide, I had to order from Hoka directly.

I typically always buy the Arahi shoe; however, I wanted something with a little more cushion as my feet would hurt a bit standing for long periods of time and on my long distance runs. I gave these a shot and they are great for the comfort and for the stability, but I have to say, the quality is not there. Within the first week of owning them, the tread on the bottom of the shoe started ripping off. I purchased them at the end of March and they have not lasted me long at all. The only reason I hadn't purchased a new pair of the Arahi's is because I was waiting for new colors to come out this summer. It seems like the colors for both this shoe and Arahi don't change much the shades of the color are cycled different ways. Would love more color variety like the other shoe styles. Stability shoes should be exciting, too! I would try them again, but may wait until the next version comes out. Hopefully the tread issue is corrected because it is an expensive shoe to have fall apart within your first two wears.

I've had MANY pairs of Gaviota 2 which work great for me.
When I went to order more in the colors that I like they replaced them with the "3'
They said that they were better and had more cushioning so I ordered my usual 2 pairs ( when I find colors that I like)
They were wrong since the "3s" don't fit anything like the "2s"
The front of the shoe (shoe box) is much bigger and wider so my foot moves too much.
I have to wear them with double or fat socks. So I'll save them for
gardening but certainly not for walking. So I have to keep the pair I've tried and I returned the second pair.
I don't understand why they had to think they had to change such a popular sneaker that the "2" was.
If they don't make the '2"s again...I have to go on a search for a new sneaker.

I loved everything about this shoe except the width of the toe box. Too narrow. I wore them a few times and it hurt my toes. I usually wear Brooks Adrenaline. I wanted a shoe with a stiffer sole and a rounded sole so I tried these but they were too narrow. I don't have a wide foot so I don't know what about this shoe made it so uncomfortable.

I just love the way these shoes fit they are so comfortable. However the quality took a huge nosedive, they are incredibly difficult to lace and tie. The decorative materials and craftsmanship are subpar. Seams failed first wearing - maybe just this pair but super cheesy looking lace loops.

I can't ware thick socks with them. They are too narrow in the toe part is why I should have chosen the wider size. I bought shoes also from OrthoFeet the same size but I have room to wiggle my toes.

I have worn hoka’s Bondi 6 and they were perfect. I ordered these and they are much tighter and left little room for toes to move around. You didn’t carry a size12 so i ordered a pair directly from Hoka.

I love the hokas but think you should carry larger sizes in women’s .

I own a pair of the first version of the Gaviotas in a 6.5. I wear them to work (12 hours shifts, lots of walking). At first they were a little snug around the toes, but they seem to have stretched out looser with wear. With this version I purchased a size 7b, thinking maybe I just need to size up. When I put them on my right foot they didn't feel too big. They weren't too snug either, I had a little over a thumbs width of space, a more wiggle room around the toes than I'm used to. I don't think the fit would be bad for just walking, but I think I'd like a more secure fit if I ran in them. I was planning to keep them as I like the overall fit and cushioning, good mid sole support. However, when I put on the left shoe and started walking around I noticed the edge of the midsole was hitting my heel in a weird spot causing a pressure spot...not sure if it's just my feet, but I think my feet have always been relatively the same shape and size and never noticed this as an issue in other shoes. I'm going to chalk it up to the shoes being defective. For the price I don't think this is acceptable.

I like the way they fit and feel but where the laces go in the top loop broke on the one shoe. I would like the same pair back they are very comfortable.
