My only complaint about the prior version was how quickly the middle area of the sole would wear down. Version 3 as I'd read elsewhere has changed the central part of the sole to something that seems like it will last longer. That's great. However, the sole on my 9wide V3 is much narrower and the toe box is much narrower. Where I could wiggle my toes in V2, they are now squeezing together. I don't expect to buy again, which is really disappointing after having so much less foot pain wearing Gaviotas for the last couple of years. After reading lots of other Hoka reviews it seems they've given a lot of their models narrower toe boxes, which may lose them a lot of customers. Maybe next year they'll get it right.

I have 2 pairs of Hokas that I bought over 2 years ago. Love them. The newer versions of their wide shoes overall seem narrower than before. I wear a Womens size 8W and the newest Bondi is a little narrow in the midfoot and heal and the Gaviota is even tighter. The Gaviota also causes pain in my knees and legs. I'll be returning these.

Unfortunately, my size in Arahi have been out of stock and on backorder until end of January. Since I need a stability shoe, I tried the Gaviota 3s (had to get Black because it was the only color available in an 8). While they are super cushiony, they don't have the same smooth step transition or push off that I noticed in my Arahi 5s. I am not a Gaviota convert and will be anxiously awaiting my next pair of Arahi!

Different from the Gaviota 2s. I get them wide and they are not the same width. The shoe cuts into the arch of my foot.

I used it for 1 week to break it in and my feet was still sore. This brand is good but not this style. I purchased another pair but different style this time. Let's see if it will help my feet.

I have bought the Hoka gaviota brand for the last few years. This one does not fit as well as the previous ones, does not feel as supportive, and the quality of the material is lower than previous ones. Only after few months of wear and the material is tearing. Still cushy, but dissapointed.

The Gaviota 3 seems to be narrower at both the toe and heal.
I wear these shoes because of a foot problem. The toe is cramped compaired to the Gaviota 2 and the side seam at the heel actually cuts into my foot. I am also not a fan of the material that the upper shoe is made of. Much lighter than the previous version. Will be anxious to see how it wears. I wish HOKA would stop "improving their shoes" and leave a good thing alone. This is the 3rd time I've had to change my shoe style because the previous versions were discontinued.

I was V excited to try the newest wide version of this shoe, with the Gaviota 2 being my #1 in the closet for literally everything athletic I do, especially comfortable for my long hospital shifts (note: I have an average width heel, but wide forefoot so its hard to find wide sized shoes to don't slip in the heel for me, and the Gaviota 2 is perfect). I bought the Gaviota 3 in my usual 9.5 wide and...wait what happened? They're incredibly tighter than the Gaviota 2, so much that my forefoot started going numb. Everything else felt perfect, but overall disappointed.

So these shoes are very comfortable at the sole.
Great cushioning. Unfortunately with my feet they are too tight at the top of my foot. This may be because I have a high instep and have also added a very thin insole.
I use these insoles on all my other shoes and I have never had an issue. They're also very loose around the toes and tight on the midfoot which is an odd feeling. There's no extra room in the back so they are my size but not my favorite fit unfortunately. I won't be buying another pair of these. ASICS and Brooks are probably my favorite so far.

The first pair of Gaviota 3's I purchased (one year ago) were amazing!! I was obsessed, wore them everywhere and recommended them to friends. This year I purchased a new pair and unfortunately Hoka changed the sole of the shoe which impacted comfort, and made it feel like you were walking on tiny spikes throughout the sole. Sooooo disappointed. Hoka please bring back the bottom of the shoe design you were selling in 2019/2020!!!

I am not even close to wide but the toe box on these shoes in wide are still too narrow. Seriously, I have had my feet professionally measured and fitted. The Hokas look huge and wide but the way they are cut is different. These Gaviotas had rave reviews and I tried wide since the Bondi 7 also pinched my pinky toes. I have a pair of Cliftons and they also pinch my toes. Same thing with the wide Gaviotas. Pinched pinky toes and start to leave blisters. Can’t go up in size because then the length would be way too long. I went with Hoka specifically because they are advertised as having a wide toe box in a regular width shoe. Not finding that to be the case for my feet. Also the soles of these are not great on the treadmill because they feel a bit heavy and start to drag when running. These would be good for outdoor running as long as the width was compatible to your foot. Cushion is good but not enough to offset the weirdness in the width of the toe box. I also do not like the shoestrings/lace pattern in these shoes. They are either way too tight and dig into the top of my foot or way too loose and my feet are slipping. Overall not a good shoe for me. Trying Bondi 7 one more time (wide next) and if that also pinches toes, I’m out of Hoka options!

Similar to other reviewers, I felt this shoe to be narrower than I expected. I have wide feet and needed something comfortable following tarsal tunnel surgery. Unfortunately, I had to return. Thank you, Zappos, for providing great service.

I was so excited when I first got these shoes. I am a waitress and I often work 12+ hour shifts where I am on my feet all day. I'd heard so many good things about these shoes so I figured I'd try them out. They were crazy comfortable, they relieved my severe stress fractures, and they were supportive and work appropriate. They lasted me about 3 months until the sole of both shoes started peeling off causing me to trip over myself. I also have noticed threads starting to become frayed and the shoe has overall stretched out and is nearing the end of their run. The pain in my ankles has started to come back and the shoes are just not as effective for my needs anymore. I am extremely disappointed that my shoes couldn't last longer. Bottom line, they are good shoes for wearing once or twice a week for long distance walks or runs, but they aren't meant for every day work shoes.

I bought this upon recommendation of podiatrist who advised that I needed a stability shoe and not orthotics after tarsal tunnel surgery, as orthotics might aggravate the pain by pressing on the compression area. I thought 6.5W would be adequate as Brookes shoes certainly are. I was wrong. These shoes feel tight and small. This is consistent, perhaps, with reviews reporting that model 3 is smaller and tighter than model 2, which is now extremely hard to find.

This style of Hoka fit too short in the toe box for my preference. I found that both the Bondi 7 and the Akasa fit wider in the toe box, which I definitely prefer. I set these back.

I like Hoka shoes thought I’d try a different style Gaviota but with the problems I have with my heels and long hours of being on my feet I was in a lot of pain. I will stick with Hoka Bondi .

I had to return because the padding at the arch was weird. Immediately knew blisters would happen.

This pair of shoes does not compare to my other shoes, even though it is supposed to have more cushioning. It is harder to lace comfortably and the foot bed does not lie well. I am a bit disappointed in this pair of shoes.

With the Gaviota 2, I wore a 9.5 regular width and it fit fine. This year's model (designated as 9.5B) was alot more loose and floppy. I ended up returning them and will go to a regular shoe store to purchase them so I can try them on to make sure I have the right size. Besides, with HOKA ONE ONE, there is no discount through Zappos, so might as well support local.

The shoes are very comfortable and I am pleased a size 10 1/2 is available. However, I am disappointed with the insole. I was expecting more cushion and arch support. I am battling plantar Fasciitis an therefore the reason I purchased Hoka shoes per recommendation from my doctor. I replaced the insole for relief but I shouldn't have to.
