These boots were made for me. After searching for over two years I found my perfect black riding boots. The quality and craftsmanship is amazing as with any Frye products. I have pretty average calves ~15 in. and ordered regular width (size 10) and the fit is perfect. Couldn't be happier with my purchase and the price. Thank you, Zappos!

I love the boots. The style and knee length is great. The only thing is that the leather is very tuff so they will need some breaking in. For the first wear there very uncomfortable. I would advise that you wear them at home or bring extra shoes when wearing them for the first time.

These boots are great! As with any leather boot you do need to wear them in a bit. They are absolutely stunning. The color detail, the quality, all of It. Will definitely continue to buy with this brand.

Great boots in exactly the style I was looking for. I had to size up one full size for them to fit comfortably.

A little narrow but not enough for me to say they were too tight. The calf circumference is tight. I have small calves so I generally have issues finding boots that are snug enough. I usually buy boots if the reviews say the shaft circumference is tight which reviews for this boot did and I completely agree. These are definitely for someone with a small to average calf. I love them!

These are exceptional quality leather tall boots and the Frye brand does not disappoint if you're looking for a tall, well made, more casual style riding boot. I am typicaly a 9 in shoes and always get 9.5 in boots because of a wide foot and I like to wear sox but in these, the 9.5 slipped on my heel and were loose out of the box so at the last minute I ordered the 9. I'm so glad that I did because despite it being quite tight, hard to get on and stiff at first, it loosened up within a few days and now 3 weeks later, its perfect. Regarding the calf, I did also order the wide calf and it was way too wide but these fit fine. I am active and have an athletic build with what I would consider slender but muscular calfs and I can tuck in slim pants and jeans with no problem. What I also love about these boots is that they come right up to just below my knee and other riding boots that I have tried are often too shor. I am 5'8". Fantastic price and quick shipping at Zappos!

These boots are gorgeous. The redwood color is a rich reddish brown, just as the photos appear on my screen. They're definitely not for thick calves, but I'm super excited to find boots that actually fit instead of gaping around my legs. The only down side is that the leather is pretty stiff, to the point that the top is bent oddly inward in one spot from the way it sat in the box, and it's holding that shape for now. I'm hoping that will soften up with time. I have somewhat wide feet, but these are pretty comfortable as they are, before any breaking in. I'm still deciding whether to keep or return these - I bought these and another pair of Frye boots on an excellent sale, and am having a hard time deciding between them! Anyone want to send me a winning lotto ticket so I can justify keeping both? LOL!

I love these but they WILL give you blisters as you break them in, especially on the back of your heels. They’re also very stiff because of the thick leather so the first time wearing these is uncomfortable. Otherwise they are a great boot.

Just WOW! This is my first FRYE purchased. The leather was excellent quality. I love love this boots. Please keep in mind when purchasing this boots, that it is made for people who have narrow feet and small calf. My calf size is only 13" and the circumference of this shoe is 14". I was wearing a legging and it was just right. The ankle area is a little tight when I put my foot in but with a little bit of wiggling :-) I was able to zip all the way. Like I said just WOW! Thank you FRYE and thank you Zappos for the excellent CS. This one is a keeper.

I am so in love with these boots! They are very true to size. I purchased the black and they are gorgeous. They are snug in the calves but I like the more narrow silhouette. They remind me of my english riding boots only easier to get on and off with the side zip which is a super cute addition. If you have medium to large calves these may be hard to zip up, especially if you plan to wear them over anything other than leggings. The quality is what I would expect from Frye and I am so pleased.

These boots are perfection, and since I got them on sale an amazing deal! I had a pair of LLBean riding boots that I adored, but after heavy use for ten years they needed to be replaced. These Frye boots are the answer to my prayers. The styling is sleek and fashionable. The quality of the leather and construction is top notch. As with all quality leather boots, they were stiff and difficult to get on the first time, but after wearing a few times are very comfortable. I fully expect to be wearing these for the next 10 years.

I had been considering this Frye Boot for some time, it did not disappoint! I’m usually between a 8.0 and 8.5 so I went with the 8.5. So glad I did. From the moment they arrived, they just screamed quality, you could smell the leather, and the color black was perfect. They can either be worn with jeans or a dress. I don’t recommend them if you have large calves, they are a bit narrow in the shaft; but they work for me. I’m 5 9”, 160. The zipper is stiff, but with use it will loosen up. I have other Frye boots and they just need time. These required a little tug to get on, but once on they feel great. I got tons of compliments the first day I wore them. Just go for it, you can beat this current price.

I love this boots! They are beautiful and quality material. The size 8 fit perfectly, which before some size 8 Frye had been too big for me. So I almost ordered a size smaller but glad I ordered the 8. They are a bit snug around the calves but most likely they will stretch with use. And I love a slim fit in boots. Zappos delivered my boots timely and beautifully packed. So glad I bought them!

I love the look of these boots but they just did not fit! I have two other pairs of Frye boots, 8.5 & 9. Bought these in a 9 and could not get my feet in them!!! Also then ordered in a 9.5. Could get my foot in, but couldn't zipper all the way--and I do not have large calfs. Super disappointed because I love this boot, but both are going back.

After trying four different Frye boots I finally decided to give these a try. When they first arrived I was so happy with the color and the feel and smell of the leather! This redish color can be worn with black or brown. I have super skinny calves and a super high arch which has led to me having issues with other Frye boots and finally this was worked. They are not fitted around the calf but there isn't a super big gap and the ankles don't slouch. The one thing was I did have difficulties slipping my foot in the first time because of my high arch, but after taking the boot on and off a couple times it seemed to stretch the leather enough to where it wasn't an issue. I haven't worn them out and about yet so not sure how comfortable they are when walking in them all day.

gorgeous boots, very loose at top of shaft and tight through calves (I have average size calves) so would not have been able to wear with jeans tucked in. Boot is loose through top of foot portion giving it a sloppy look, at least on me. Sad to return.

My favorite brand of boots!!! So stylish and comfortable! After a few days of breaking them in, I wore these to Disneyland with no problems!

I was sad to have to send them back b/c they were very beautiful, but they would not zip around my average sized calves at the top. One other note is that the zippers were VERY stiff... I'm sure they would have loosened up eventually, but just a note

I love love love these boots! I am a 5/5.5 but always buy a 5.5 in boots for thicker socks. These fit like a glove! I am short, 5ft and they are the perfect shaft height and do not rub on my knee at all, the calf feels fine and is a little snug but leather stretches and it is not a problem for me at all! Highly recommend!

I just got this boot and I am in love! At first I had trouble getting my foot inside and the leather initially seemed a little stiff around my ankles, but after wearing them around the house for a couple of hours they felt good. Reading other reviews I have confidence they will continue to soften more and break in. It smells amazing and the color (Bordeaux) is very nice. At first the sole seemed to slip easily but after a couple of minutes that went away. These go to just under my knee and are loose enough to tuck my pants in. I can't wait to wear them again!

The leather is very stiff; wasn't the most comfortable Frye boot!

Oh how I wanted these boots to work! They are absolutely beautiful - but just too tall for my smaller stature. They would be fabulous on a taller gal!!

Beautiful boots. I have a narrow foot, high arch and instep, plus skinny calves. I wear a 6 and I couldn't get my foot in them. Very disappointed!

These boots are gorgeous. They were just a little too tight around the calf so I must return.
