I Love these boots. Very streamlined and classy. They are very comfortable to start but get better with every wear. The calf is narrow, just enough room for leggings or skinny jeans to fit under them so they give a very tapered look. Highly recommend.

Love these boots! Beautiful leather and the color is even better in person. So comfortable. I wore them right out of the box to my son's birthday party and they didn't hurt at all. These are pricey but worth it!

These are gorgeous boots! I got the "dark grey smooth vintage," which could also be labeled as "taupe." They look like brown boots, basically, without any red in the brown. Like, on the "blue" edge of the "brown" spectrum. They'll go with your taupe sweaters perfectly but look somewhat brown against your grey sweaters, which isn't a bad thing because taupe and grey work together well as similarly "medium" tones. I'm 5'8.5" tall and 135 pounds, and these come to directly below my knee and look great with skinny jeans tucked in, dresses, and skirts. The one thing I'm hesitant about: underneath my Gap bootcut jeans, the boots stick out, so wearing the jeans over the boots is a no-go. Maybe other jean brands are wider at the opening, and maybe these will loosen up with wear. Maybe wearing your boots under your jeans isn't your style, anyway. To be clear: the silhouette of the boots is slim (but not skin-tight). Honestly, it seems like the perfect shaft width to go over your pants without a battle but still look polished with skirts. This is my first pair of Frye boots after almost 10 years of admiring them. I'm glad I took the plunge!

The foot bed fit, though it was tight getting my foot inside. Unfortunately, I was unable to zip the boots up all of the way. My calves measure 14.5" and supposedly so does the boot. I guess it was just too close. Too bad because they are nice boots.

They are definitely stiff and if you have thicker calves, this may not be the best option. I can wear mine with thin jeans or leggings, but not with thicker jeans. Very stylish, and I was hoping they would soften up a little, but they haven’t. They are still beautiful and I’ve worn them for 4 months now!

I like these boots but I wish the calves of the size 9.5 were a bit slimmer. Even with jeans they give me cankles. They look heavy on my legs. I still may keep them because I got them at a great price, and though I don't consider them fashionable, they are a timeless design. Some years they may not be as popular as other years, but they are basic so I expect that I'll be able to mix them into more trendy boots, and get many years of wear from these boots. Another thing about the boots, the tops of the boots (just below the knee where they end) flare out at the sides (on the outer sides of the legs) a bit. This is the worse feature of the boots. Maybe I can fix the cankles with some fashion stirrups but I’ll have to live with the flaring. The right foot is not very comfortable. I could see a corn or two developing (the top of the shoe rubs against my toes) but I refuse to have that on my foot. I’ll have to use some moleskin until they stretch, or take them to be stretched if I keep them. If I had a smaller foot and thicker calves these would be a no brainer.

The fit was good - I am a narrowish 8 1/2 and it was perfect. Same for the narrow calf. And the leather is to die for - so rich and, unfortunately, so STIFF! After walking around on the carpet for a half hour, my ankles were really irritated where the boot buckled. No way can I put up with this for breaking in, as I don't know if this leather would ever soften up enough to be comfortable . I remember breaking in Frye boots when I was in high school, long before my feet became really tender and my tolerance for pain was greater. So sad to return these.

I liked everything about this boot except for how narrow the footbed was. I have very narrow feet but these were too narrow even for me. I have had other Frye boots much more comfortable than these. I have small calves and these fit great around the calves. I ended up sending these back and getting the Sam Edelman Womens Penny Leather Riding Boot Black which were much more comfortable and better priced.

These boots are really pretty. They look very nice and stylish; however, the leather is really stiff. I had to return them for this reason. The shaft was also narrow for me.

First, they are beautiful boots! I wear an 8.5 or 9 and ordered a 9. They were snug in the calf and snug at the baby toe and I wasn't sure they'd loosen up at the toe. I am sad to return them.

These are absolutely beautiful boots. Quality leather, comfortable. Unfortunately the shaft is too short for me (5’ 11’) and although they fit me perfectly through the calves, the top of the boot was too big and stuck out a lot on the outer side. If you need a wider calf boots these probably won’t work for you, since these fit me well and other boots I’ve tried tend to be too big through the calves.

Good leather boot that would work well for someone with long legs, as the shaft height is nice & high. Unfortunately, I found the boots to be VERY stiff & did not provide the sort of interior padding that I was looking for. The circumference was also too wide for my thin legs, so I had to return, but the boot itself is of very nice quality.

Beautiful, stiff leather but little arch support and noticeably gapped outwards on top due to the cut—the shape emphasized my bowleggedness

I am petite (5'0" with size 5.5-6 feet) with relatively thin calves so i was hopeful given the reviews that the shaft is on the narrower side. However, I usually have a cobbler take in boots- so these had a seam/zipper which woudl allow for that and the ankle was not too bunchy. The leather is beautiful but stiff and came right up to just under my knee. These are nice boots and i would have kept and had fitted by a cobbler, however the color just wasn't what i wanted. I was looking for more of a cordovan and the redwood was more of a rich brown with no red.

These are beautiful boots. The leather is of great quality and the styling is classic and simple. As others have said, however, they are very stiff and they are very tight at the top of the calf. I am hoping that this means that they will keep their shape and not slouch at the ankle. I think that I am going to keep them and just hope that they soften up at little once they are broken in.

The shaft was super tight and I do not have wide calves. The toe area is also more pointy than round so you probably don't want to use very thick socks. Had to return because the shaft was narrow and uncomfortable.

I really wanted to love this boot, but I experienced a similar problem as another reviewer posted: there was a gap in the heel area. I would not say that the boot was too big, and I did not exchange for a half-size smaller. Instead, it almost felt like there was too much space given to the heel area so that my foot really couldn't fill it and my heel was sliding up as I walked.

I really wanted to love this boot, but sadly, the calf fits fine but the top is way to big and gaps to much! The leather is beautiful and the boot is very comfortable but I need a boot the fits the shape of my leg. I would also appreciate a black leather lining in a black leather boot!

Definitely a beautiful boot but I guess I need boots for smaller calves. My calf is 14" circumference and these boots were just way to big around. Everything else was perfect.

Shaft too tall, I'm 5'2"

The boots are wonderful except for the calf area. I could not zip up all the way because they were so narrow.

These are beautiful boots, but heel runs very narrow and are difficult to get on. I usually wear an 8 but found these ran a bit small. I’m hoping to size up.

I'm 5'4" tall and the shaft of the boot hit right under my kneecap, making it uncomfortable as I walked. There was also a small puncture mark on one of the boots, which is more of a quality control issue.
