I'm glad I read all the reviews on this boot. Order your true size for sure. The toebox is roomy. I ordered my normal size 9 and have been trying them out with hiking socks. They are comfy, don't rub anywhere and the ties make them easily adjustable. I can't speak to waterproofness yet - I bought them for a snowshoeing trip next month. I do recommend giving this pair of boots a try

I bought this boot because I hike a lot in winter conditions in the Northeast and needed something warm, waterproof and with good cushioning because I am prone to plantar fasciitis. I've now been on a few long hikes in the snow and my feet have stayed warm, dry and pain free. I've worn Merrell for years and have several pair and to date this is the best winter hiker I've had. As other reviews mention the toe area is more generous than other models but I started wearing double socks after the first hike and the fit was perfect and the added warmth and cushion of double socks worked well for me. I highly recommend these boots to anyone looking for a great winter hiking boot!

What do I get when I wear my Thermo Aurora 2 Mid Shell Waterproof? Confidence. I live in town (a small, Western one) so I walk everywhere. There is ice on sidewalks, alleys, streets and I have no worries when I set out at any time a day. I like to walk at night so all the more reason to have a great sole..Arctic Trek...to help me exercise. This is my third pair of Merrells with this particular sole. Thanks

These boots are so comfortable and have great traction. I went on a hike in slushy snow and they kept my feet totally dry!

I have had these boots for a few weeks and am not disappointed. We have had some very cold and snowy days lately and my feet have been warm and comfortable hiking or just walking about. I highly recommend them.

So far I've used them a handful of times and they have kept me so warm!

I put the books to the test right away. I went on a hike on a cold day and towards the end of the hike I needed to walk through a flooded pond. The Thermo Aurora 2 Mid shell kept my feet both warm and dry.

These boots are great straight out of the box. I usually always get blisters with new boots or shoes, but there was no break in period, and I've been wearing them daily for long walks since beginning of January. They keep my feet warm, and provide great traction in the snow. I'm usually size 6.5 in Merrell footwear, and they fit great! I love the look too!

I bought these to replace my old Merrells. They are good quality. I've hiked in them a few times now. They did take some breaking in to get comfortable since they are a little taller than my last pair. Happy with my new boots.

These are amazing! Perfect for walking my dogs long distances. Not too heavy like my winter boots but still waterproof and very warm.

I love these boots! I've had them about a week and put over 20 miles on them, over 6 the first time I wore them. I normally would wear a women's wide (or just get the masculine color in men's), and even though these are a women's medium, they accommodate my wide foot with thicker wool socks. The laces appear to be functional and would likely tighten for more narrow feet though. They are definitely waterproof, I walked through deep wet slush for two hours, and my feet stayed warm and dry. I also stood in snow for almost 2 hours without as much walking and my feet weren't what got cold. The traction is great on icy hard snow pack, even up and down some steeper inclines. They don't have the arch support I wanted, but I added an additional insert. These are lighter than any of my other winter boots and perfect for my daily winter walks.

I love these boots. They are so comfortable and didn't even need to be broken in. I've worn them on several winter hikes already and each time these boots have held up to my standards. Highly recommended!!

These boot are perfect for me. I needed a 10 narrow and it is almost impossible to find in a boot. The lacing is well designed and easy and quick to get into.

I like this boots. They keep my feet warm and dry while shoveling snow and slush.

These were comfortable the first time out hiking. The inside is roomy and definitely waterproof as we went on a very muddy hike with water crossings. I wish I could get the laces tighter around the ankles.
